What we know so far about NBA 2K14 - FAQ/QA:

My thoughts on how replays should be handled:

Hire a private investigator. I never said I know who has them. There are "rumors" from credible sources everywhere. These things have to be kept secret for obvious reasons. My point is they should focus on developing a next gen NBA game. I don't see what would stop them from doing that if they aren't already, because other companies have been preparing for next gen. They can save the resources they are "wasting" on Live 13 because even if it comes out this year, I believe it will be a fail. I could be wrong, but it's my opinion.

Re: EA should scratch Live 13?
Why would anyone who loves basketball want EA to "scratch" Live 13? That's ridiculous. I don't even know why I'm responding. EA needs to continue the Live series because not everyone wants to play the same 2K basketball game every year. We need variety. If they want to work on other games like NBA Jam or Street or whatever, fine, but that's no reason to cancel Live.Comment

Re: EA should scratch Live 13?
Here is an interview that Gamechurch.com conducted with NBA Live 13 producer Nick Wlodyka back at E3 2012, which we somehow missed posting back in June. The interview provides a good rundown of the info we know so far from their approach to the game, their main goals with NBA Live 13 and the sharing of ANT ...Currently playing:

Re: EA should scratch Live 13?
But who in the right mind would play Live 13 over 2K13? That would be like if had a Lamborghini Gallardo, but chose to drive my Ford Pinto just because I wanted something different. I think it should be scrapped. It's not even close to being a competitive product.
Secondly, the 2K series is far from perfect. In fact, I would say it's been regressing since 2K8, and Live 10 was the best recent basketball game I've played. I'm not really knocking 2K, the animation and look of their basketball games are top notch, but other areas leave a lot to be desired. Again this is just my opinion.
I will be buying Live 13 no matter what. I'm ready for a change of pace from 2K, and if Live 13 is anything like Live 10 or Elite (which I think looked very solid in the few videos I've seen from it), then I already know I'm going to be very happy with my purchase. It may not have the animation level of 2K (thank God!), but it will probably have some great controls, fun gameplay, ESPN presentation, Synergy Sports DNA, etc etc. Lots of good stuff for bball heads.Last edited by fluent2332; 08-28-2012, 02:56 PM.Comment

Re: EA should scratch Live 13?
That's an excellent interview. Thanks for posting!
I usually wouldn't respond to something like this, but I'm bored. First of all, we haven't even seen NBA Live 13 yet. We've only seen some pre-alpha footage. It's far too early to try and judge whether or not it's as good as 2K. For all you know the retail version could drop and it could have better gameplay than 2K. Who knows. And honestly, all that talk about which games are better than other games is just relative. One man's trash is another man's treasure if I must use that cliche. Apples and oranges. Live will probably be much different than 2K and deliver a completely different experience.

Re: EA should scratch Live 13?
Some people will play both. One as the PRIMARY game and the other for a change of pace. And I'm one of those guys that gets all of them just to support them if I feel they are trying. I have my doubts with Madden though and I don't like the deal - so I don't buy that one. But I buy everything else. Even in sports I'm not a big fan of such as Fifa.Comment

Re: EA should scratch Live 13?
Of course I kid. But you do seriously have a WILDLY different view of things. Are the skies yellow in your part of the country?
Boy. The conclusions we can draw from this - animations are bad. Very bad. The fewer the better. And basketball heads are all about Synergy data and ESPN presentation. I repeat: Wow. That's all I get when I read your posts. Just wow. I do enjoy your post though.Last edited by Boilerbuzz; 08-28-2012, 03:56 PM.Comment

Re: EA should scratch Live 13?
Live 10 was brilliant. It played a very solid brand of basketball. And you could actually control your players. Live doesn't have the depth of animation that 2K has but you don't need animations to make a great game. I consider Morrowind for the original XBOX to be a great game, and the animations in that game were considered poor by most. 2K tries to emulate a real basketball game with their breadth of animations but they sacrifice a lot of control and other things in the process. That is why I prefer Live 10 over almost any 2K game I've ever played.
2K6 to 2K8 were some great years for the 2K series. It's been all downhill since then. But like I said before, I still have played most of the recent 2K games and had a blast with them. They are good at what they do. But since Live 10 I have preferred the Live way of doing things over the 2K style, and which is why I'm way more excited for Live 13 than 2K13.
I don't see what's so crazy about that. It's called having an opinion.
