Did I miss something? I was under the impression that it would be a launch title. Considering the new consoles should come out around November, I would think that this title should show around the same time. With that being said, I think that it would be better for EA not to say anything at all until they're ready to actually show something at the same time. I think that's what many people are complaining about.

I think 2 to 3 months is a lot of time. We've seen the foundation. It's good dribbling with signature moves and shots within the 1 and 2 man game. Live has always been good with spacing and movement so I'm not concerned with the rest.

Well, if the game of basketball was just about signature dribbles and OK spacing, then you'd be on to something. "Always been good with" movement is a highly debatable subject that I won't touch. I just think that after years of all of this blind faith, you still have nothing to show for it, then what's the point? They can just come out with a 10 man dribbler demo and call it a day. It'll have "NBA Live" on the cover and it's better than nothing at all, right? I have no problem with what I'm seeing or hearing from EA, mind you. It's just getting silly that people are ready to jump either on or off of the ship before any REAL information comes out. Why don't you wait and be sure before you start saying it's the same old OR before you start saying "that's good enough for me". I'm sure that the majority here would agree with me that's NOT good enough. I want more before I start believe. But I'll also be the first to admit that I don't expect to see any real meat until later. So I'm reserving judgement. And this comes from a guy that played with it at E3. (No, I won't post my impressions. Steve posted his and that's enough).

My expectations for this first release is that this game will be on par with what live 10 overall had to offer. I think that's reasonable and we've already seen improvements in some areas.

Why do people keep asking for 5 on 5? EA will put it out, its July, the game's 3 months off release. 2K gave us a 1 minute or so of Lebron highlights and that's it. Live will obviously have 5 on 5 eventually, but its JULY. Its rare, really, it never happens to see a 5 on 5 or full gameplay video when the game's months off release. Why has it been that since Live 14 news came out its been all "5 on 5 gameplays, stop talking about stuff, 5 on 5, that's it."? I get that Live has a lot to prove, I want to see what they've got too, but asking for 5 on 5 pretty much since this game was announced is pointless.

Its about 4 months off considering it has been announced as a launch day title for X1 and PS4.

5 on 5 gameplay will come...They have to have some marketing behind it , nobody comes out and shows all the goods right off the bat. Example - 2k has been confident in their game the last year or 2 with no competition and they put out a good product , but they didn't come out after 1 week and say , here is our game , 5 on 5.

As much as I hate the word "hype-train"... but they have to have the whole build up.

Imagine as a kid opening your best present at Christmas first... everything else is a letdown /downhill from there.

I think it's warranted. Elite and Live 13 had a lot of hype about them from EA but they didn't manage to deliver. Now they're back and they are hyping their game again but by just throwing out buzzwords without showing us how it works is, at least for me, rehashing the same thing from 2010 all over again, and we all know how that went.

Ea has a lot of competition from 2k so they need to really prove themselves this year instead of just selling the hype. If they had a solid base and sales and rating to back it up then it would be alright with just buzzwords at this point, but in the current state of thins I don't think it is.

I don't think there was crazy hype for elite or 13. This board simply wouldn't allow it with Pre conceived notions and undying love for the other game.

All I can remember about 13 is the devs/media hyping it with stuff like... "Gameplay Never Seen Before In Basketball"...

No hype...? Did you forget all the interviews with Live's developers last summer? If all they said was true, Live 13 would have been the best sports game ever with no competition.

What did calm the hype down a bit was life experience. And again, it proved itself useful last year.

Still curious to see 14. No judgement until gameplay arrives. Tabula rasa.

I swear, some of you have selective memory. People were eating the Elite hype up like a waffle breakfast. (Ummmm... Waffles....)

But seriously, don't pretend that there aren't blind loyalist to either game and don't pretend that many people don't have enough reasons to be wary of the EA hype machine. It has nothing to do with OS or the other game.

I dont even remember the media focus for Live 13. I think it was the ESPN and more sig stuff which everyone has been asking for. You dont think 2k would get crazy hype if they got espn?

For Elite- the dribble mechanics and shot stick was revolutionary and really took skill. I thought the hype was warrented there since no bball game had even tried it offering a real shot stick.

The hype for 14 is coming directly from people that played the demo.

Actually, ESPN was first included (all the way, finally) in NBA Elite, not 13.

The hype for 13 didn't get off of the ground because of the hate coming out of E3. Then the leaked demo hit and it was pretty much done from there on.

Elite - the dribble stick (shot stick was already done) changes were intriguing and people were all over that. I mean everyone - including folks that claimed to be 2K fanboys. That hype hit a fever pitch until footage from an EA marketing event (seeing Boozer flying like Jordan) and the demo hit when folks actually got a chance to play with the dribble stick and "skill based" shooting.

The "hype" for Live 14, however, is coming solely from EA. Reception of the E3 demo from the majority that played with it has been lukewarm at worse, to cautiously optimistic at best. Pretty much everyone is saying, "let's wait and see". I would hardly call it "hype". But ask Steve. One the other hand, you have EA throwing around buzzwords like "Ignite" and phrases like "never done before in a game"... And folks are rolling their eyes at THAT kind of stuff. Nothing more.

Yep. And how rage-inducing is that? You locked up an exclusive deal with ESPN in 2004 and you do nothing with it until year 6?!?! Ugh!

Nobody's done a shot stick like elite did.

Ignite is not a buzzword. It's the engine for all ea next gens.

If you are expecting some epic fail from live this year I think you are mistaken. The game will be released. The news has been nothing but positive. The head guy from 10 is in charge and since I prefer the live gameplay over 2k I'm hyped for its comeback and whatever they want to call their tech is fine with me.

What I don't get is why people constantly come to the live boards to rip on a game and the people that enjoy it when they never even liked it before or prefer 2k outright.
