Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
That would be blaming me.. or do you not get what you type?
I have nothing to be mad about. In fact, its pretty mind boggling that a game company is trying to win back the trust of gamers for a game they cant seem to get out on the market. They are having as tough a time putting out information, that could be written up within a few hours, edited with footage etc, like thats more time consuming than making the game itself. Live devs/marketing are like XboxOne at E3, lots of backtracking.
At this point, lots of people want to see "ingame footage." A full game or more. nothing spliced, nor 1 person alone in a gym dribbling, etc.. Its bad enough EA cant even keep articles up for a day, like they have to tease the limited fanbase they have already, with "now you see it now you dont."
As far as people having opinions, feel free. bringing up the other game to point out its faults, while totally disregarding the faults of the game that cant get on shelves is quite comical. That why I mentioned you, you get it correct? Maybe you dont.. yeah you dont, thats why Im explaining it to you in this post.
carry on..NBA Live is the epitome of Cancel Culture..

Why is it so hard to reserve judgement until we see actual gameplay from either camp? Last time I checked neither company has shown us anything that we'll actually see when we play.Comment

Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
Man come on. When are people going to stop making excuses for this game before it even comes out.
This has nothing to do with 2k, they just released a game, and have a freaking commercial on tv for nex gen.
NOTHING has been done over here at all. One goofy spliced up dribble in place trailer, and now all I see is a denial of something from an official site (NBA.com) and a bunch of talk from these nobody gaming sites with nothing to show for it.
Its been 4 years... how much more time do they need?Comment

Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
I'm not defending EA by any means. I've even said that they aren't doing a great job marketing Live. But I'm tired of the double standard that says 2k can do no wrong and never needs to release anything.

It's hard to reserve judgement because we've been here before....repeatedly. You must not be all that familiar with this side of the situation. This is the norm for EA. All people are doing is trying to get some of you guys to open your eyes to the red lights flashing in front of you. "Reserving judgement until they release footage." You aren't the first dudes in this forum singing that song. Waiting around for EA got them nothing but broken games every year and eventually a bunch of cancellations right after they did the same kind of shady stuff they're doing right now. It's not rocket science.Comment

Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
us live fans can't post anything without being attacked by the other side. 2k and ea are two different companies who make a basketball game that look different from each other. leave it at that and move on.@KingTate84 on twitter.Comment

Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
There is a difference between reserving judgement, and believing every word that comes from EA, there is no double standard every flaw in 2k is made into a thread, video are made every day, exploits are posted I have not seen a game more scrutinized like 2k other then Madden but theirs is deserved.Comment

Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
I don't really see the argument here.
First, I have to admit that I've been visiting the site/forums daily hoping to see new information/gameplay regarding Live because I'm genuinely interested in the game. I'm assuming most people here, like me, feel the same way and are really hoping EA puts out something great. I love basketball, and if I can get another game to put on my shelf then I'm happy to do so.
Having said that, lets look at the situation critically. NBA Live has not held a place in the general consciousness (with the exception of the lack of releases) for several years. Meanwhile the 2K series, regardless of anyone's particular opinion of the games, has garnered pretty much all of the attention from those who are interested in basketball games. Moreover, they've just released this year's iteration on the CG systems.
I may not be an expert in marketing or business, but I would expect the primary focus at the moment for 2K has to be about pushing as many units of their CG games as possible. Given the tricky nature of this year's cycle, with the release of the NG consoles, I'm assuming that cannibalization is likely top of mind for the company.
On the other hand, EA does not have the same issue to contend with and instead can be hyper-focused on their release of Live on next gen platforms -- both in development and marketing. Given the challenging task before them of gaining market share for their product and share of hearts and minds with the community you would think that EA would be dominating the next gen conversation. The lack of information, footage and general excitement-building is a missed-opportunity in my mind -- a failure even.
Surely there is still time for both companies to drum up the hype machine in support of their next gen ventures. However, I don't see the validity in any argument that suggests that 2K, "needs this as much as EA." In fact I believe that 2K has all of the momentum at the moment (with the release of the CG game and most recent "teaser trailer") and they can afford to hold their cards close to their chest. The decision is even easier so long as EA keeps quiet on the matter.
I'm not going to speculate on why EA has seemingly missed a huge opportunity to seize the NG basketball conversation because I really hope they put out an exciting product. I'm sure in the coming weeks we're all going to get our fill of information from both companies, and as usual the community will dissect every nuance. Until then, I'll keep visiting and hoping for more information, but I firmly believe EA has whiffed in the marketing department up to this point.Comment

This is looking like NBA Elite all over again minus the awful demo.

Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as every next gen is mum. I don't care about videos and such, just give me the demo next gen and I'll decide. I'm not throwing hope on ea like the diehards are, if they don't take the proper steps to restablish a fanbase, its on them. ball is in your court ea.#dairyfreeComment

Re: NBA Live Interview with Gary Paterson
It is kind of scary how this is starting to look like years past. Live 13 went down similar to this. It showed up at E3 behind closed doors (the gameplay got murdered by the people who saw it) and then it disappeared the rest of the summer only to turn up again with the "leaked" gameplay that looked like **** and they swore up and down that it was from version of the game that shouldn't have as many features in it as it did. They had all the screenshots that they dropped and yet and still, we know what happened to that game.
This year we see what's happening. Showed up at E3 only they made it a dribble demo and no gameplay whatsoever. It disappeared for a while with the odd screenshot here or there until that MSG trailer and then silence again when people criticized the lack of 5v5. It's crazy how things have gone.Comment
