I think this is not a big problem, since they can have several game modes, like Arcade and Simulation. They can make the Arcade mode like NBA LIVE 2003 so players who prefer flash games can love it, they can tweak the gameplay to be realistic in Simulation Mode, which would please hardcore gamers.

This is what I suggested. It seems to be the best idea to appease both types of gamers. They could just implement Live '03 or '04 with minor tweaks like the graphics upgrade, new moves, and different things they are already putting in the game anyhow, and there is your arcade game. You won't have to change much at all as far as coding, and you have the best of both worlds there.

Maybe critics panned Inside Drive cause it was just a bad game.. The players dribbled like hunch backs, every players shoulders were elevated.. The success of any sports title is it's franchise mode.. & Drive had the bare minimum to offer gamers.. & try taking a 3 near the sidelines?? You can't. you'll be out of bounds!! & too assume only casual nba fans play ESPN/Live is absurd. Just cause you like Drive better, doesn't mean it's strictly for BB zealots who know the ins & outs of the game..

Hmm, I can take a 3 at the sidelines pretty easily in Inside Drive. As for your comments re: the animations of Inside Drive, you obviously have no CLUE what a good game makes, because the animations, while weak don't undermine the gameplay of ID. ID's strength is its AI, which neither Live nor ESPN's can match. Live is much closer than Espn though.

Some of the players do look like hunchbacks, but their faces are spot on, unlike Live.

I've got some bad news for you- franchise mode has nothing to do with whether a game is a good simulation or not. The only relevant issue is whether the game engine accurately models the sport or not, and ID absolutely does. It doesn't have the prettiest graphics (although it has much smoother gameplay than either ESPN or Live), but it is the only game that models NBA offensive sets, that features a truly effective mid-range game, that features multiple off the ball fouls, and the list goes on and on.

The great thing about ID is that you can spot someone who has been playing other games right away. They're used to using the steal button over and over, and to defending by shot blocking. What happens in ID when you try to steal the ball without being in position? Reach in foul. What happens when you jump in the air to block a shot? The shooter waits for you to get in the air, then draws the body contact. Foul. ID makes garbage arcade game disappear (not entirely, but certainly more than the competition).
