Re: Crazy Dunks
i disagree.
I am a huge fan of the dunk contest and have a DVD with every single contest on it. I have noticed that as the years go on, the physical limitations of the contestants become more noticable. This is because with fewer "new" dunks to perform, guys are just adding variations to the same dunks over and over. That being said, the dunk contest has gotten somewhat boring after 20 years of the same 360s, windmills, and self-alley-oops off the bounce.
Then there are people like V.C. and J-Rich who take these ingredients and bake something extra-special. V.C. did a simple 360 Windmill but approached from the behind the basket. J-Rich did a regular bounce to himself but then put it through his legs... BACKWARDS!
The point is that dunks are evolving only by combining simple elements and adding them up to spectacular slams. I admit that some of the dunks on the game could never really be done in real life, but they are all made up of things that COULD happen. For that reason, it feels like we will truly be creating dunks that would feel just like J-Rich's off-the-backboard through the legs in that it would be pregressive, but not impossible.
If we start seeing triple backflips in mid-air, or players dunking the ball with their feet, then it will be less cool. But until then, lets create some "futuristic" dunks.
I can't wait.
