I think the odds are high given that they put out 14, 15, and 16 when they knew what the competition was. Also, since they have only said 1st quarter 2017, they don't have a definitive date. It'll probably be around all star weekend. The extra dev time should give them confidence in the game since it's not rushed out. They've gotten better every year, and had the self awareness to recognize they needed more time to do more than incremental improvements. So yeah, I think it comes out lol
They've responded to so many people on twitter that they're making the game and excited to share stuff "in the coming months" that if they didn't I'd just shake my head forever
usually a year to year sports game has a 6 month production cycle so im thinking they wanted a longer cycle?
But even then you need a 6 month down time even after a game is out of alpha or whwatever that final phase is called
so heres a scenerio:
they said we want a full year to work on it
well if they wanted 12 months add 6 months to that
that meansfrom the time of release of the nba live 16 say sept 28th to this years sept 28th thats be a year and to todays date maybe say almost two months in then we're looking at another 4 months before any news and then another 6 months before its release
so 10 months from now IF they were actively working on it
this all hypothesis though LOL but the closest thiung i can wrap my head around IF they do come out with nba 17
Brand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...
Welp, the crappy game that is 2k is making me hope Live 18 has Frostbite Engine and and some decent pro-am type gameplay, think I'm done with Visual Concepts attempt at basketball.
this is the best time as 2k is at an all time low. they really don't have to do much to win a lot of people over this year. it just has to work and be at least a 7.5/10 in realism
A lot of people are frustrated with the competition this year. I didn't think it would happen but EA has an opening and a chance to make some noise if they can at least deliver an above average game. I'm not even a Live fan but I'm curious to see if they'll be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
So much depends on if they try to fly before they can crawl. If upper management's first thought is how to maximize micro-transaction purchases, then they'll fail.
If the focus is on solid, fundamental, non frustrating gameplay then they can make some headway. Unless of course the brass pulls a replay of NBA Live 10, where they threw a hand grenade into a solid framework, because sales weren't instantaneously great.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
I still have my doubts but I do think it will. Not too.long ago I seen some guy on twitter go back to Vancouver to do more mocspping. As some posted above I seriously hope everything around the rim is improved.
I think I speak to most when I say we all root for NBA Live to make a comeback. Especially if they can introduce something in the lines of My Career/My Player
After what 2k17 threw at us this year a very high % is really angry. The entire mode was destroyed and ruined because of greed and awful caps/limitations.
I'll be one of the many rooting for this game to hit stores and hope to see similar mode.
Hard to imagine how they can possibly release it...absolutely no publicity etc.
The ps4 pro would have been a great chance to release some video of the game running at 4K.
Something / anything to get some hype.
It is too late now imo. I always buy every basketball game, but I won't be buying a full priced Feb / March type release.
Having said that...I will not be surprised if Live 17 is simply a cheapish mobile game. I do not play mobile games, but I guess a lot of people seem to do so nowadays.
