Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Note: Still waiting for the demo to be out on US PS4.
Could you have pressed the pass button earlier? Would that have helped.
Side Note: Personality touch. At the end, looks like Tristan Thompson was scratching the top of his head, then his forehead sort of like "darn, I blew it."Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Shimmies are done with the right stick.
Drop stops are Sweep the Right Stick in a half circle to the ball side hand/outside shoulder.
Hop Steps are sweep the Right stick in a half circle to the opposite hand or inside shoulder.
Post hooks are Square (on ps4) and Left Stick to the left or right.
Post fades are generally done by holding the Left stick back and then Square. I think you can choose the side of the fade by holding the left stick diagonally down left/right.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I'm not sure how I feel about this game so far.
Positives:
- I love that The One has this built in story and it's making for some cool cut scenes and stories to make you feel engrossed but without feeling like you have no control. Your performance is still your performance.
- Still can't get a quality face scan but I do like how easy it is to upload and you virtually have no load time in loading it into the game once it's uploaded.
- Like the unique feel of the different Parks you play in, it makes the game feel different and just looks great in terms of the atmosphere.
- Defense feels natural, even as a non defensive type I've gotten some nice blocks including blocking a jumper and grabbing the ball and slamming it down the other end on a break.
- Liked being able to go on a scoring run. During the little Pro Am at the start, I was down but James Harden just went off getting inside of the paint and got that little hot streak icon before he basically polished off the game making for a fun sequence.
- EDIT: Had to throw this in there after just now seeing it. Brick wall screens are great. Twice when I set a screen for CP3, Isaiah Thomas went falling to the ground while my guy stared him down.
Negatives:
- Granted I did pick a stretch big which is a Kevin Love archetype but my playmaking is 61 and I can still bomb passes down court like Kevin Love. It seems weird for a 71 overall to be able to do this. I haven't tested doing it too often but a couple times now I've thrown it down into heavily contested traffic with no penalty, something that's been an issue in Live for a while.
- People have said it but shooting is very awkward and I feel like I probably shouldn't have chosen a shooting archetype. It's going to take some getting used to but I haven't played with actual players outside of that opening Pro Am game.
- Not really a fan of this crate system so far. I like the idea of being able to buy what I want to wear and not have to spend RP to build a collection of stuff I may not want (there may be an option to do that but I haven't figured that out so let me know if so).
As a whole, I don't really know if this has convinced me to buy it yet. If I can get at least one friend to download it and run online, that'll help me see but I can't see them being blown away by this game. I just feel like what I like about this game is that it's something different in presentation but I haven't had any truly breakout feeling yet in gameplay to make me want more.Last edited by Inzombniac; 08-10-2017, 10:18 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
It's alright. Once the new hoops game hype went away, I was left underwhelmed. The shooting is a paradox. It feels sluggish while at the same time comes off as easy(scoring feels easy). The game, while having some animations here and there, feels floaty at times and seems very animation centric(it doesn't flow well at times). While the courts are wonderdul, the player models are hit and miss, with more misses for the most part. That said, there are some positives such as a neat progression system, how defense works(at times), and The One mode...just how it all integrates. Definitely an improvement over 16, but not where it needs to be. Can range from an Average game to a Good game depending on what type of experience you want....caters more to fan of Arcade-style gameplay in my opinion. It's fun for what it's worth....just not long term...especially with the rumors about the franchise mode not bwing super deep.Comment

Is there anyway to choose which hand to lay the ball up with?

Feels like Live, that's all I can say!!!
People when you get out of that mode of playing it like the other game, you can appreciate what is here...so far no complaints love the game. Had to start that Drew League over two times and still lost...lol
Won my first time playing streets, I will be playing this mode a lot and love the text messages.
Will rescan my face too, cheeks too plump....lmao...Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Finally won a game on all star difficulty. I had to push the tempo and on collapses kick it out to open shooters. There is a lack of urgency on some of the catch and shoot plays like coming off of screens. Even on some dribble separations to go into a jumper there is a slight delay in the jump shot which allows the defense to gather in time.
On pro difficulty the shooting window allows for more positive outcomes for the lack of urgency releases but on all star you have to make sure you have a good look or its brick city.
Had a 5 point lead with 10 seconds to go but did not see the cpu intentionally foul me to prolong the game. It was on star difficulty.
I have blocks on 30 for both human and cpu. Did not see the amount of crazy blocks like on 50. Think im going to stick with 30.Comment

You can get some nice bounce pass assists with the circle button. Sometimes i forget there is a button specifically for bounce passes.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I'll kinda do a running impressions thing here. Just finished the intro Drew League game and I came away very impressed.
This is what Live 16 should have been.
Defense feels great. It's so nice to be able to keep up with guys.
Dribbling is cool, I think I gotta learn how to do more moves. Haven't really been able to blow past guys yet. Did it once though and it was sweet. Broke Kyrie's ankles with Steph.
I don't really see the issue with shooting that others have seen or are feeling. Feels fine to me. May be a personal thing.
Everything just flowed better. It's just simply a solid game of basketball so far.
I really like everything that's going on in the post. And I see bodies hitting and reacting as they are hit. No clipping or warping that I've seen so far.
Overall after a very short sample size, I am impressed. I'm not gonna sit here and say Live is back just yet. But I think we might just have two good basketball games this year.
I'm not sure I'm gonna get into "The One" very much, but it's fun. The game is fun period.
I've seen a few negatives, seems like sometimes the players don't move quick enough. Maybe that's just my player though.
I love the emotion the players show. Game feels alive. Crowd is great and love the presentation.Last edited by PVarck31; 08-11-2017, 12:36 AM.Comment
