I think people are legitimately having issues with some lag. Shooting is fine for me, but I don't think people are making it up. It could be system specific, it could be people not on game mode, could be people's TV's.

Seems like it's more isolated, but there is something going on.

I wonder if it could be related to different players shooting animations? Or specific shooting animations in general.

Or it could just be something I'm not noticing for whatever reason. Maybe a minor bug that can be fixed by launch.

Whats funny is- even the biggest Live YTers have been mentioning it on stream...

Livea jump shooting has always been fairly smooth from a neutral position so its a bit bothersome to me....doesn't feel good at all especially on catch and shoot situations to me...and its combined with the fact theres a little delay when you recieve the ball...
Idk what it is . But I even released it early and the game still was holding the shot without my input and released it late. I will keep trying tho.

I've messed around with the demo today on the PS4 & really enjoyed it. I know there may be issues in areas but to me I'm having alot of fun. I like the controls & everything has felt smooth for me so far. Graphics are really nice & detailed. Announcing may not be as in depth as 2k but that doesn't really bother me. I like the street court stuff as well. Its more on the lighthearted side of things but it fit's the mode. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised.

Oh that sounds like it may be an actual issue rather than feel then.....I don't know....

Yes, this is definitely in the demo. I made an and-1 in the one 5 on 5 game I played.

Or some people just don't like Lives interpretation of foot planting...players take a quick step and pull up for a jumper all the time, not always the exaggerated step Live has you do allowing the defense to contest in some situations....

Not every dislike is a 'because you are used to 2k'...yall gotta chill with all the scorned stuff man, lol

Actually in 2K if your feet aren't set the motion is off and you'll most likely miss the shot

I just don't see it, this game is stiff compared to 2K. I want Live to win as bad as anyone but this is a bad sim basketball game, some encouraging things but overall bad. I may just cop because I'm a big fan of street/Pro-Am basketball and it's only 40 bucks.

I know people want to be optimistic but let'a keep it a hundred.

The game is decent. But, I dont like seeing Love block 6 shots in a 5 min game though. He and Zaza seem way to explosive on both ends. The speed and athleticism gap between players seems off.

These are the things I'm talking about I mean are they serious with these last gen glitch animations?

Klay Thompson looked like a person who never played basketball before reacting to J.R.'s move with his back turned completely out of position. Jeff Green traveled morphing into some finishing animation over 2 defenders. This is comically bad like something you'd see in a 2007 video game not 2017.

The player scans for Steph, D-Rose, Klay, Jordan Bell are absolutely awful. LeBron and KD look amazing I will give Live that.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

A couple of criticisms that I forgot to mention in my first post:

Let us use the right joystick for steals -- I only have one thumb on my right hand, and constantly moving that thumb back and forth between the steal button (X) and the shot contest button (up on the right joystick) creates a biomechanical delay that makes my defender's on-screen reactions late whenever I need to press one of those buttons and my thumb isn't already resting on that needed button. This would not be a problem at all if the shot contest and steal commands (the two most common defensive actions) were both assigned to the right joystick. I'd really prefer to have this control scheme for defense:

                      Flick up = contest shot
Flick down = steal when the offensive player has both of his hands on the ball
Flick left = steal when the offensive player has the ball in his left hand
Flick right = steal when the offensive player has the ball in his right hand
Click the stick in (R3) = take a charge

The automated dribbling animations have got to go -- It's frustrating when you're trying to quickly bring the ball up the court, and instead, the game decides to take control of your player and make him do a lengthy sequence of uninterruptible dribble moves. Please let us have full control over our dribbling at all times. The ball shouldn't be randomly changing hands or moving around at all unless I tell it to move by flicking my right joystick.

Blocks are too easy -- In Play Now mode, I saw Kevin Love leap from a flatfooted position and send Kevin Durant's dunk attempt into the stands like he was DeAndre Jordan. In The Streets, my 5'10" backcourt defender point guard has been regularly rising up above the rim and blocking centers like he was actually a full foot taller. Somehow, I even managed to get a two-handed snatch block from behind on a fastbreak against Chris Smoove's CPU team.

@jyoung : Everything you just mentioned control wise in your negatives IS in the game. Take 5/10 minutes and hit the drills or read. From the dribbles to the complete shot stick.
I know that the shot stick in Live lets you control your release hand on driving layups. But from what I've seen, it doesn't seem to have much of an influence on your dunk animations. I wasn't able to consistently trigger a reverse dunk or layup animation while driving along the baseline like I could in 2K17. Pressing up on the stick in Live doesn't ensure that I'll go up with a two-handed dunk, and pressing left/right doesn't consistently make my player use that hand to dunk (it seems to trigger a lot of accidental hesitation dribbles instead of dunks). Live just needs to copy 2K17's right joystick stick inputs for dunks and baseline reverses, and then that part of the game would be fine. The current system doesn't offer nearly enough control, though.

So true, there is a place for Live and 2k. But if the roles were reversed and Live put out what 2k18 is doing and 2k put out this same demo live did people would be tearing into that demo like johnny manziel tears into his unemployment check.

Late contest on laups matter too much.

I'm actually enjoying the game lol

The developers put THOUGHT into it. The players look great. The animations look grade. I don't really enjoy how slow people feel when sprinting, but it's something that can be patched. Also, the sound of a "block" is something that can be patched.

This is the right step and as someone who hasn't bought a live game sinceNBA LIVE 10, this game will be getting purchased by me.

Do me a favor. Try the game out with an open mind. Forget about 2K for a second. Appreciate what this game actually offers which is a GREAT my player mode and attention to detail. Stop writing the game off. TRY IT OUT.
