NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

Any particular reason for the cutoff for online play at level 20 instead of say level 25?

This is going to sound really really rediculous. Trust me, what I'm about to suggest is nothing more than a pipe dream and I can understand why it won't be possible. But any way to simply patch the ability to still play online past level 20? An easy fix would be to just lock the upgrades out past 20 (while still accumulating them for the base game if someone wants to carry over)?

I agree 100%. I wish they would have at least told us that in the beginning because I would've waited and just played online games w/ friends instead of randoms. I was for sure they'd let us keep playing by just not giving us anymore upgrades and etc.

Also wish they gave you a chance to make multiple characters.

For anyone that got drafted. Has everyone got drafted by the 76ers or do your performance really matter?

Thanks I'll give that a go.

I just went back to play 2K for a while and the first thing I noticed was that the dribbling felt nowhere near as nice. Bear in mind myplayer has maxed out dribble ratings and on live my guy has a 75 dribble. Also drives to the rim are so much better on live. I felt more in control of my player and the action on live.

Playing 2K again actually makes me wanna go back and play live asap.

Yea it would wipe out the current one, so like I said either try a different one or go back at it with the same now that you maybe know more about the game and could improve or assign your skill points differently.

I made two videos breaking down the sheer realism of the on court action when it comes to creating space and respecting angles. It's a thing of beauty and is absolutely something that will go under the radar of more casual hoops fans (Not that there's anything wrong with casual, just saying). We have a really good hoops title on our hands this year.

Performance matters... I didn't play well in the draft combine game so I got drafted 17th by the Bucks.

I'm very surprised by the game, both the look and feel are great. If what 2K has to offer is more or less the same I'm definitely pre-ordering Live.

I love the upgrade system, it doesn't feel like I'm grinding through pointless games just to get my overall up for The Street, I like how it's all tied together.

I only wish there were 3v3 games in The Street, too many ball hogs in most games.

I went 4th to the Suns after having a really good game. I think my "Performance Score" was a 90.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

The short and sweet review is that This game is not good, but it's fun. I understand that may be contradictory to some who think fun is all you need, and if it is, you may actually like this game a lot. I actually like it a lot, but that's more about the fun factor.

I love the Drew, Crawsover, & other Pro-Am aspects of the game. I LOVE the clothing (Hate MyPark clothes) I like what I seen of the narrative and on a casual level the gameplay is fun. It actually has some aspects I like. The traits that stack to give you boosts (I always wanted to be able to make an inside out styled player in 2K). Their 1 on 1 dribble moves seem to have a lot less freedom than 2K, but the way that on-ball D and the dribble moves work against each other is amazing. It's very risk/reward heavy and you always feel 100% in control. It's something 2K had in the prelude but lost after patches and honestly, it may even be better than what 2K had. Stopping James Harden was hard as ever, but on possessions that I clamped him, it felt amazing. At a $40 price point, and somebody who subscribes to EA Access, I know I'm going to pick it up eventually off of fun factor alone.

I'm not gonna harp on it with a long post of the cons, but just know if you want anything like a realistic experience, run. Don't even look at this game, but if you want some lighthearted, hoops, with a dope story mode and some cool clothes and hairstyles, pick it up.

I really wish companies could just come together and work to make one game. It feels like 2K does 96% right, but that 4% works great in Live.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

I played the Rucker Park and Venice Beach games. Then 1 one game of Cavs/Warriors.

Obviously a very small sample but my initial thoughts are that I really like the game. The thing that I notice more than anything is that this game has significantly less sliding than "the other game". I can't stand the player movement in 2K. I feel like I have better control in NBA Live.

The one thing that still sort of bugs me are the physics when the ball hits the rim. I'd say they're slightly improved at best. Something just seems off. Even on shots that hit nothing but net. This needs a little improvement.

I also notice that off ball player movement is quick and precise. I never feel like I'm waiting on my teammates to get into position. They get into the offense quickly and there is fluidity and purpose to off ball movement. And when your offensive teammates get held up the physicality looks great.

I'm buying this game without hesitation.

But has it been improved upon from Live 16? That's the million dollar question.

I'm liking the way the game plays so far. The only problem I have is that the camera options are so limited and everything seems a bit slow.

If I could write another review after playing more games, it would look exactly like Jyoung's. Couldn't have said it any better.

I got drafted by the 76ers too! Scored a 100 grade in my Combine game (I was lighting it up).

Glad to see that performance matters -- I was hoping to fall to the Suns, honestly, but the 76ers work for me. I just wonder if we're replacing the real draft picks with ourselves -- I kinda want to beat out Fultz for the job, but if I have to replace him with me, so be it.
                                Any comments are welcome.
