Re: After Playing the Demo, Are You Buying, Not Sure or No

I have pre ordered it and paid for it. Myself & a buddy have been having a ball with it. With the sliders tweaked right the game is really good. I've had some wicked games that were really enjoyable and it just made me want to go back and play again and again.
I am new here please be nice

i will also be picking this up! i will get both basketball games just because i always look forward to this time of year (basketball games are all that i play usually) lol i think i may get both on ps4 still undecided but i'll definitely give live a shot i've had live 2014, 2015, and 2016 i saw small improvements but this year i'll definitely be putting most time into nba live. i will pre order and use bestbuy's GCU to get it for $32 but even if it was regular price $60 i would still pick it up. CAN'T WAIT TO USE #HEATNATION JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY! WOOOOO

Nope. Honestly I played the demo once when it released and haven't touched it since. I just don't like the gameplay for Live at all.

And it certainly doesn't help that 2K18 is looking like the GOAT basketball game.

Hard no. I have EA access so I'll play it eventually, but it's just not a compelling package (though it does have some interesting elements).

Re: After Playing the Demo, Are You Buying, Not Sure or No

This year is shaping up to be a very interesting one for NBA video games. I was leaning towards getting NBA Live 18 AND definitely getting NBA 2K18 and I dove straight in and preordered BOTH Live 18 and 2K18 because I want to be able to enjoy both because they are DIFFERENT experiences and each has their own things to offer diehards and casual NBA gamers.

I'm just happy that NBA Live 18 has begun to take some positive steps to improve and I am EXTREMELY excited for all the improvements and enhancements in NBA 2K18.

2K18 is better overall as a complete package but having NBA Live 18 will be a good change of pace.

            Just my two cents...

              Agree.

I don't have plans on buying Live(unless a good deal pops up). But I do plan on renting Live for a while and giving it a try. It will be a different experience than 2k. So will enjoy of them.

Live seems to be heading in right direction. Might not be next year, but by Live 20, I expect Live to be a legit game

I hear you on that, Will. What made Live 18 more attractive to me to buy this year was the $39.99 price tag for pre-order. Live 18 doesn't justify, imo, a full retail price of $60 Day 1. There's simply not enough depth there to satisfy the hardcore NBA gamers not to mention the casual fans out there.

That said, I applaud Live 18 for developing The One mode as a single player experience but I honestly have to spend some time in Franchise mode and the One single player mode to really make an HONEST assessment of Live 18 as a whole.

If NBA Live 18 and their dev team continue to make strides in the areas of GAMEPLAY, ANIMATIONS, PRESENTATION AND add real DEPTH to their other modes (esp. Franchise) then Live will offer legit competition and a QUALITY alternative vs NBA 2K.

Long story short: substance matters. You build a good game rooted in solid, fun gameplay and real depth, then you will have something special on your hands.

I totally agree, Will, Live 18 is not quite there yet as a complete package. But, if and when they do get it together, LOOK OUT!

Lastly, I think the move to Frostbite for NBA Live (hopefully next year) should be amazing for the franchise as a whole.

I agree Frostbite would be great. But I hope it doesn't have same effect on Live that it had on Madden development. They said with Frostbite and Longshot, they didn't have resources to work on CFM. If Madden had that issue, imagine what Live would with less resources.
But if they could focus on Frostbite, Franchise, and Gameplay next year, that would be a step in the right direction.

                    I agree with this.

I know Live is fresh and new for a lot of guys...

but as someone who has supported Live this entire next gen cycle...its time to add some depth to the franchise....

Its time things like focusing on adding roster editing, fleshing modes out takes priority.

Definitely agree with the need for roster editing. The main focus should always be on gameplay and presentation in my opinion, but that should be a major priority for next year if they haven't added it this year.

Totally agree and on point, Will. I also hope that the eventual move to Frostbite for Live doesn't shortchange needed attention to improving gameplay, Franchise mode (roster editing would be wonderful) and presentation.

                        Time will tell...

I really do think ROSTER EDITING is out the question this year and moving foward also... That's old!! That was a thing back in the mid 90's and that's where it should stay if you ask me! You would think that implementation could take away from other modes that bring in revenue! Not happening anytime soon...

Biggest Sale pitches for Madden 18 was Frostbite, Longshot, MUT. None of them enticed me to buy it this year.
So it wouldn't entice me to buy Live in 19. Live needs to work on depth and customization
