i hear where you guys are coming from but realism is very subjective. to me, 2k looks pretty real ( not the CAP, just real players) but doesnt play like real basketball AT ALL. like, AT ALL lol

even in just the demo Live's AI behaves alot more realistic to me. it doesnt look as good as 2k, but plays worlds better to me. again, its all subjective. this is coming from an original 2k fan (been playing since dreamcast)

the best part of all this, is we have an option this year. if you dont like live, cool. you got 2k. if youre not feeling 2k, you got live. theres no definitive answer for which game is more sim unless you value someone elses opinion more than your own

I have been playing basketball games since double dribble on the NES, and I have no problems saying that this years NBA Live is the most realistic playing basketball sim ever. It plays just like you feel on the court. Live has been a trash franchise for a long time, but I'm going back to it BECAUSE of how the game flows. It's not without its warts, for sure....but it feels right.

yea i almost played at southern, then i recieved a full ride from a pac10 school but my mom and sisters all ran track/graduated from southern

ive been lurking on OS since like highschool days 02-03. my first name screen name was acolbert around 2011/12, but i forgot the password info so i just made this name (same as psn)4

OT: serious question though, how do you feel about the AI player movement versus 2k? not the animations, but do which do you feel does a better job with ai court spacing, ai defensive responsibility, game pacing? i mean, i know 2k18 isnt out yet. But 2k is pretty consistent in terms of the ai.

MODS i promise this is a calm discussion - nothing venomous here! hopefully the thread will stay that way - old school OS style lol

I was sure I was buying this game after the demo released...and then they released a patch. Now, neither myself or the CPU can score and the block shot numbers and missed layups are ridiculous. If the player ratings meant anything they wouldn't have to tweak shooting.

Game is no longer enjoyable. It seems like I would buy it, hope the out of the box game works well, if not, screw around with sliders, until the next patch drops...rinse repeat. Sick of that nonsense.

                  Dope man!!!

You already know that's not going down (issa trap) the whole comparison thing vs the other game.Honestly, I hold live up against itself vs the NBA(likewise with the other game).
We can talk about live vs the NBA (spacing, flow, def awareness/ off awareness, play recognition, player abilities(what they should and SHOULDN'T be doing) and also penalties etc....

Are you playing with default slider on superstar? I've been playing Live18 ever since the demo dropped. My latest game yesterday definitely still had guys driving the lane, dunking and scoring at will. Outside three point shots are still at an all time high. This applies to both CPU and user. I've seen some misses on the interior and outside contested shot, which makes for a much better game. Seeing misses is a relief, and honestly I wish they would make things much more difficult to score.

And thirdly, I wish they would implement a variation on the degree of fluctuation for the shot meter. Everyone's meter fills up at the same exact rate. If they could tweak how fast the meter fills depending on who it was and whether you were guarded or not, and various different scenarios, that would make things a whole lot better. If I'm still making 75% to 80% of my shots, which is what it felt like yesterday on the PS4 on superstar default slider, then that's still too high of a success rate.

To me what's not fun is the cpu and user making all shots at will. Imagine what the score will be when we put the clock to 48 minutes, 12 minute quarters. We're looking at scores in the 150-170 and up to 200 mark if the shot success continues to persist.

What level are you playing on? I shot 51% against the CPU on Superstar last night, no tweaks to anything shooting. The CPU, I held them to 41%. Points in the paint were low, less than 50%, most coming from mid range or 3pt shots. We both had 5 blocks, which is still a bit much for 5 minute quarters, but they're continually coming down. The stats were really good, and the game felt excellent.

It's weird, I wasn't planning on buying any basketball game, as I have the 16 version of the 'other game' and was fine with it. But seeing so many gameplay vids of Live and the price point, I actually can't wait to play it. The last time I was this excited to play a live game maybe was live 05 on the ps2 lol.

Who said I was doing that? All I said was that Live impressed me enough to deserve a buy, which I didn't expect. I have bought games from both companies for years, so if you trying to come across as some gaming elitist trying to label me as putting one game against another, you are sadly mistaken.
