For the total price of $33.91 after my BestBuy GCU discount, it was a no brainer. The game has issues no doubt but it's a lot of fun to play.

Doesn't seem like there are many hardcore sim players here. Like everyone prefers fun over realism. I'm not making comparisons just observations.

I play it SIM like... But ultimately, if I can't have fun while playing a game, I shouldn't be playing a game. If it's frustrating me to no end, I need to put down the controller and walk away. I need to have fun to destress from every day life. That's why when I can play the game, and get a good challenge while not feeling frustrated, I'm happy.Twitter - WTF_OS

I just hope they aren't looking at comments saying we need to win those guys over. The games become dumbed down and will end up being casual fun.

There are certain aspects to Live that I personally see that is simply ahead of the other game right this very moment (pre-2k18 release).
(1) Player control - Absolutely more player control and almost none to less fighting over the controller. With the other game just yesterday, I was pushing Draymond Green towards the paint to grab an opposition miss three, and low and behold, the computer was moving Draymond Green to contest the three pointer. That's definitely an extreme case but these types of uglies do rare their heads. When stuff like that happens, that's enough to sway some individuals to look for an alternative.
(2) To a certain extent, Teammate awareness, specific. - My adjacent teammate having the understanding to not double team and actually go find another guy to defend if I bring over someone else to guard the ball handler. With the other game, my teammate sometimes (on occasion) will remain guarding the same ball handler even if I bring someone else over to defend.
(3) Awareness to get around a person - The ability and awareness of the person I'm controlling on defense to actually use his hand to get around people when I push him into another player. With the other game, my player often would run in the same exact spot as if he was on a treadmill, or running into a wall without awareness. Doesn't know how to get around the person.
(4) R3 replay button and halftime presentation - The ability to watch every single offensive made bucket with true ESPN presentation using the R3 button, that could sway individuals. The halftime report (despite the commentary sounding like Jalen Rose strictly reading a script). I still absolutely love the other games halftime and pre-post game shows, but Live 18 have taken it to a different level (minus the commentary).
(5) Atmosphere - no explanation needed.

To play devil's advocate, and truthfully to a certain extent, sports is about bringing emotions to the table. I sometimes see actual real players doing stupid stuff that I start being vocally colorful at my tv screen. If a sports game is able to do that, that seems like a partial success. Obviously, I think you're simply referring to fighting the controller. For those moments, I just figure my digital character actually has his own brain and is doing stupid stuff, allows me to justify my internal disgust for that brief moment, that almost immediately dissipates by the next play.
I see what you're saying. I saw it said a few times that 2K controls are too hard, or it has too many options.
I just hope they aren't looking at comments like that saying we need to win those guys over.

And truthfully, the way I want to run an offense (i.e. ball movement and player movement) is much prettier with the other game than Live 18's demo. What I thoroughly enjoy about Live 18 (including Live 16's demo) is the total player control aspect.
Two things that I would change/implement in Live 18 to be able to run a more free flowing, ball movement, player movement offense is if they rework the "screen (L1 button)" to allow me to immediately call anyone of my teammates to come set a screen wherever my teammate may be on the floor. Secondly, more "freelance motion" rather than me having to initiate freelance motion through various means.
This year, I likely will be getting both games digitally (hate swapping disc). Both games will have my attention this year, despite Live 18 still having some wonkey contextual animation and scoring currently is too easy inside the paint and three point shots are too easy as well.Last edited by strawberryshortcake; 08-20-2017, 09:32 PM.Comment

I said that I would get it if it looked okay and it was priced around $25. With my best buy gamer's club membership I think it will be around $35 so I think I will go ahead and preorder it.Comment

Re: After Playing the Demo, Are You Buying, Not Sure or No
I'm all about sim, but there comes a point where it's no longer sim and taking itself too far even the players in the GAME are worse than real life. I think Live is pretty sim from a gameplay user control standpoint. You feel like you're controlling real NBA athletes and stars, on offense and defense. That is incredibly sim to me. I value that type of sim over animations. They feel way more explosive (not just dunking, but first step, dribbling, foot work, defense, etc)

Yes good times TP is my 3erd favorite video game franchise ever behind only Zelda and batman Arkham. Tony hawk 4 was hard the other ones for the most part were easy. TP 4 is my favorite. Underground 1 was good to and underground 2 a close second behind TP 4. American waste land was like the last good Tony hawk game but also when it started to get worse.Comment

Re: After Playing the Demo, Are You Buying, Not Sure or No
to each his own that the beauty if gaming and free will lol. I value playbooks, advanced moves, etc etc and i am one of the that enjoy organized bball more than arcade. Ive has pip and 3pt problem but they can remedy that in a patch i hope. The stree game is not for me. Its all prime dwade in the paint shots and randoms trying to play hero ball.
the main issue with it being too sim is it's the NBA... NBA IS a lot of freelance and talent differentials over playbook. Always been that way.

The real test for me would be seeing 2 users play (NBA setting). Playing The ai left me with a bad impression. I'm strictly an online player.
