Re: Franchise mode what are you looking for?
Good news, WTF. Eager to see what Live has brought to the table ... The One is serious fun, but I'm a diehard franchise guy. (As my sig indicates, lol). Really hoping to hear some news soon -- I don't want to Live to lose the momentum is has. Having two basketball games again, both offering solid experiences for the consumer, is refreshing.Comment

I'd say we'll get a blog maybe the first week of Sept. That's just speculation. You still have LUT etc. To go through as well.
Just a question, so don't read anything into it, but how many of you guys would want a cfm like Madden? I'm not an online guy at all, but I often see people talk about wanting a cfm.Twitter - WTF_OS

As for the cfm: not really my bag. I bought Madden last year for the 1st time since 2012 (remember Peyton Hillis? No? It's okay) when it was on deep discount. I barely touched it.
In comparison with 2K's MyLeague, the CFM (and all the menus, IMO) are way too loud and cluttered for me, really distracted me from the game. Personally, I like solo experiences and stay offline as much as possible with my sports games.
Now, IF they take what they have with The One and incorporate that into a CFM-like franchise mode, they have my attention. I'm really impressed with the direction they took with The One and wouldn't mind a similar direction being taken with their franchise mode.
Like The One has with its various trait badges and skills, you could outfit franchise mode with similar traits/skills by treating each franchise as an organization, one entity -- for instance, take the Spurs.
Each franchise has three equipable traits that can be leveled up to three levels (bronze, silver, gold).
The Spurs, as an organization, have a gold "Master Tactician" trait badge, because of Pop (of course). This badge, at gold level, allows you to alter minutes of players with little to no morale hit, while also guaranteeing a minimum team chemistry level of 75, and gives boosts to the individual members of your team's "clutch" rating for all players in closeout games.
The next badge could be something like a gold "Hometown Loyalty" which ensures that players, due to your franchise's longstanding stability as one of the leagues best organizations (say, a minimum of 5 years with 75+ team chemistry and fewer than 5 trades in that timespan during the regular season), players will sign for less and have a higher likelihood of re-signing with you at the end of their contract.
Their final badge could be a gold "Diamond in the Rough" which is based on how often a player taken outside the top-14 of the NBA draft develops into a quality (say, 75+) starter. The Spurs are experts at finding players other teams have passed on and making them solid to good, so because they have a gold badge, they get extra scouting opportunities during the course of the year for draft prospects, as well as a smaller chance to draft a bust and a greater chance for their prospects potential rating to exceed the estimated potential rating by 5-8 points (a difference between, say, a role player and a fringe all-star candidate).
Each franchise would have those three trait badges equipable, and one non-removable trait badge. Each team, at certain points of the season, could switch those badges out -- say New Years, the Trade Deadline, and the Playoffs. So, if you're a rebuilding squad, your equipped badges would probably be more of the player development variety.
Take the Kings, for instance. Their three badges would probably be something like:
1. Silver "Fresh Start": Players who haven't had success on other teams (lets say they have only developed little and played less than 2000 minutes on their last squads) get an increased chance to develop faster with in-season training during the season thanks to extended playing time.
2. Bronze "Young Guns": Players in the league less than three years and currently starting get slight bonus boosts to their offensive attributes and see their offensive BBIQ score go up slightly.
3. Bronze "Path to Relevance": You've cleaned out the roster (less than 5 returning players from last year's team) and you're trying to get back to respectability. Players on your team get a slight bonus to their stamina and hustle scores, as they fight for every possession to prove they're trying to make your team good in this league.
I really think if they took the badge system and skill-points from The One and do something similar in franchise mode, making it far more RPG like while still giving you the ability to do common things (like make trades, edit players, load custom draft classes in-season), then EA will be able to offer a vastly different -- and more personal -- experience for their customer base, allowing them to compete with 2K without trying to replicate what 2K has done copy/paste style.Comment

I think that would be an amazing addition to the game. A lot of people are really into playing a shared franchise with friends. I have only played once, I believe it was a league or smth online on 2k11, ended up being the undefeated champion after drafting yao and d-wade, no one could play the post (lost art in bball gaming).
But yeah, offline franchise improvements all over the board are the priority I believe, even more because the competition is really stepping up the franchise part of their game every year alsoLast edited by leoribas3; 08-18-2017, 02:58 PM.Comment

Re: Franchise mode what are you looking for?
I'm not looking for anything crazy for the franchise mode; as I'll spend majority of my time in LUT. I understand the game is trying to reestablish stability, so anything they put out I'll work through.
The only thing I would hope they put a little focus in was putting in some type of trade logic for the CPU. I like to move pieces when I play a franchise, as far as getting better role players and stuff to help my bench. But back in 16 I remember I offer my worse player and get a starter caliber player in return. I would have a team full of starters, and that was just bad lol.
Lastly, as far as CFM mode I don't care. If they can appease both online and offline groups, then I'll be good with whatever.

Re: Franchise mode what are you looking for?
Keep in mind fellas, my estimate of the blog timing is just that, and estimate. I don't know when it'll drop. It may be next week, or 3 days before release for all I know.
I'm certain that logic etc was tweaked for this years franchise, so that alone will help the game have a little more longevity.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Franchise mode what are you looking for?
AI needs to be solid, the ability to control every team so we can fix any AI mistakes (things we may perceive as not right as far as lineups and trades).
The ability to set desired minutes per player, big lineup, defensive lineup, bench lineup etc. Realistic injuries.
I really hope they take a lot of cues from 2K’s brilliant MyLeague as far as interface and ease of doing basic coach and GM functions.
But where I really feel we may be in for a surprise is the franchise presentation. If The One is any indicator.....the ESPN presentation package plus the great in game presentation on the demo....we may have a truly immersive franchise in terms of presentation which in my opinion can keep you engaged and coming back for more, longer than you think.
I am only purchasing Live 18 this year, so I hope it can bring a good solid franchise experience.
I am not expecting 2K like brilliance, but more of a functional franchise with better presentation elements.
We shall see.Now Playing on PS5:

Ensure that AI SIM games are also at the same quater length as the player's games so that stays don't get inflated.
I assume it'll be an option to set human and CPU game lengths to 6 mins per quarter? If that makes sense?Packers | Tottenham Hotspur | Heat | Dodgers | Carolina Hurricanes | Volunteers | BvB DortmundComment
