And no CPU trades in Franchise mode.
No draft prospect scouting in Franchise mode.
And also a random 90 ovrl rookie messing up the game.
I'm seeing a lot of people cancelling their pre-orders, people that were saying that they were going to buy the game for EA's amazing feat at producing a fun and really enjoyable gameplay experience. I dont necessarily blame them. I think we have been very active in this forum and in other media outlets voicing what we as consumers want from the game, for years. And we spend our hard earned money to buy it.
... But my point is, look what EA has accomplished already.
I was one of the few that bought NBA Live 14 when the new consoles came out. That was the worst purchase of my entire life. That was complete unplayable garbage.
But time passed and with each game NBA Live improved every year, I believe its fair to say that.
And then all of a sudden, after a big hiatus (again!), NBA Live 18 videos and the demo came out, out of nowhere. Look at the gameplay of this game. This is absolutely beautiful. It's really possible to give real arguments about how it plays better than the other game right now.
Keep in mind that, while Live was trying to rebuild itself for a 3rd time, 2k was on full auto mode, creating more depth on Franchise mode, Career mode, pro-am, MyTeam, MyGM, etc etc etc.
NBA Live managed to produce this level of gameplay from probably around 15-20% the budget size of 2k. Managed to build a career mode in The One that, in my opinion, is already a more fun and more interesting approach to a career mode than the other game as well.
Now, look at the demo. The dudes updated the demo like 3 times (I'm gonna repeat, the dudes UPDATED A DEMO) to improve the gameplay and user experience through OUR feedback. They improved it and made it more appealing to us, listening to our thoughts.
I know that roster editing and franchise mode may not eventually be improved THIS year. I believe it wont, I believe it will be the focus of next years game...
But the bottom line is, I believe this game and these dev's deserve our support. Have faith in them, have faith in this game, SUPPORT IT.
Pre-order it, buy it later for 10 bucks, whatever you do, support.
Because at the end of the day, if live dies again for good, there will be no competition, there will be no alternative, no real incentive for the other game to top itself, and thats only a lost for us, consumers and sports gaming lovers.
I dont know if this is worth a thread of its own, but I really wanted to give my 2 cents on this current situation
