Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
I was one of those who cancelled their pre-order after hearing some impressions of the EA Access trial.
That is not to say that I don't think the game will be good and fun. I just was already questioning how much I would play a 2nd NBA game that was released at the same time as 2k18. So once I saw some reports I decided to cancel. If NBA Live did what they planned last year and released their game a few months into the season when the NBA 2k18 hype dies down I would be more inclined to buy it then. It is easier to hook me when I am tired of 2k.
Maybe I will still pick it up a little later, but it is different picking up a game after everyone's Career player and Ultimate Team's are all high level and you are joining the party late.Comment

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
You said exactly what i have been saying about live 18. but if you're truly a franchise only guy. there is no reason for you to purchase live at all. for me..I already got the preorder because I understood exactly what you said above and I'm a my career/The one type of gamer now. I havent played franchise mode in years. That use to be my favorite mode.

Also i should note i was turned off a while ago with MyPlayer as it just didn't interest me anymore but with 'The One' i found a whole new love for this type of mode, EA have done a great job and i can't wait for Friday.
Even if franchise mode isn't fixed to the point its playable which is my mode, i know i still will be enjoying Live 18. People can say what they want about Live but i haven't enjoyed a basketball game like this in years. I won't go into why. I'll be first to admit there are thing's that need to be fixed for sure but the game is too damn fun to worry about them at this stage.
If EA keep this up i'll be purchasing Live every year.I am new here please be niceComment

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
I pre- ordered both versions but after reading the no roster editing is a game breaker for me! They are forcing people to spend extra money on their Ultimate Team BS. I have been making All-time rosters for years but EA is doing everything possible to eliminate gamer rosters so you have to spend money to play with old school players.
I'm cancelling my order today!

How are they "forcing" you as you said to spend your money on UT ? They dont have like 30% of the content in MUT and FUT
Wanna talk about "forcing" you to spend your money? Go play 2k where you have to pay for attributes, hairstyles, sleeves, shoes, socks, beards, balls, court, animations, ETC ETC ETC.... not even talking about the MyGm and MyTeam (also a money grab)Comment

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
Pre-ordered immediately, played the demo fully, used up my 10 hours of EA Access - and will be continuing on Friday. Live is a less "complete game" right now but it is the game for me this year as life is too busy to pretend to have a second life in "the neighborhood". I just want to run 5v5 and feel I can compete without playing 8 hours a day.Comment

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
Everybody's concerns about this are totally valid---to each their own.
Me personally, I've gotten disgusted by 2k's practices. I used to be an online league person but they killed that mode...it still exists but it's so poorly designed. Since then I migrated to Pro-AM, but long story short, they've made it so that in order to play 5 on 5 competitively, you have to grind for quite a while or drop $50 so you're on par with the rest of the community who doesn't care and is willing to pay (And unfortunately, there's far more of those) I'll be happy to drop into The One and be able to enjoy myself right away, while steadily making progression with my character.
But yeah, if offline franchise is your thing, 2k's is far superior right now. Not even close. But I personally think one of Live's biggest objectives was to draw Pro-AM or 5 v 5 players away from 2k, and they succeeded with me and many others. Here's to really hoping that Live improves its offline mode drastically, so that the rest of you have better options and that 2k will have real competition.
I myself was happy to give them my money, because in order for them to keep growing, they gotta have support. I know a lot of it is barebones...but I do think they're trying their best. Now if next year is similar junk? Then I'll start being wary. I wasn't a Live 16 player so I may have a different perspective.Comment

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
At what point will you guys stop putting up with a barebones game? Not trying to ruin anyone's fun, but a game made by a major company like ea shouldn't be releasing games lacking features like this, and I see the same comments that I saw for the other next gen live games from people trying to justify buying a barebones game year after year.
Im still on the fence about purchasing the game. I'm going to see how much I get out of the EA Access trial version first. I do feel like EA is in a good place with this game. You are right that it is "barebones" in the sense that it is missing key components of others sports games (especially the other NBA game); however there were some fundamental aspects EA needed to focus on before they could worry about adding some of the smaller features and components. To me gameplay is the most important aspect of any game and with Live 18 EA is finally delivering an NBA game with good and fun gameplay. It's not perfect but they are now at a point where, going forward, they can work on adding more features and depth to other areas of the game instead of having to focus on getting the fundamentals right.
Next year I'm expecting a more fully featured product with more polished gameplay and graphics.Comment

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
I'll def be getting Live because of Live Run...
but I completely understand guys frustrations. For some this is year 4, so all the tread on the 'couldnt give us options because.....' tire is pretty much gone for some of those guys...
so I feel Fist when he's asking 'At what point is it enough'....in fact, its word for word what I've heard guys taking a stand against VC say, ha...
at the same time, everyone has their own limits/standards/concerns...and you cant expect all to feel like you do....

i think if youve been supporting a series for a decent amount of time, say anything past 2 or 3 years you have a pretty good understanding of the companys track record.
like you said im really enjoying The One, but im a "player locked" mode guy for the most part. i really FEEL for the customer who has supported Live for "x" amount of years and feels they are being ignored yet again.
i was really hoping that Live would cover all of my basketball gaming needs this year however it doesnt look like this will be the case.
as a frustrated gamer with the other series, as much as i dont wanna admit it - i gotta get both games (😂 OMG! the roasting im gonna get from OS friends and my psn friends with as much crying as i have done thus far 😂 😣😥
i think the difference for me is i have options to work around MOST of my displeasure with 2k, where as the frustrated Live crowd doesnt have that. Its simply play the other game or deal with Live in its current state and thats no fun.
feel for you guys - seriously

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
I did cancel my preorder I'm mainly a franchise guy in all sports games. I will however pick up Live 18 on a black Friday deal for sure. I've like the gameplay from the demo and while I have my issues they've def come a long way.
I hope that with the unhappiness over the roster editing and franchise they really focus on that next dev cycle. The gameplay is there for the most part if they tighten up a few things I could see myself buying it day 1 next year.God, Family and The Chicago Bulls.

Re: Keep that 1% of hope left alive
I kind of understand the sentiment, but EA is no charity.
All that matters when it comes to my dollars is the final product that I can play today (well Friday).
This year's iteration will only get my EA Access support.
I agree that the quality is trending up, at least in the areas where Live tries to compete.
all companies need money for R & D (research and development).
they get their money thru sales. some companies are cheap and keep all the profits for the big boys at the top and do very little R&D. those companies should be punished with a No Buy from customers.
Other companies have small teams(live does), and dont have a ton of budget money(live doesnt). so they need all the R&D money they can get. Its not just about the cash. its about getting their sales numbers up to pitch to their overhead bosses to say SEE it worked. we did this, and this and this. Some people are mad see these threads due to a lack of features(roster editing, franchise mode, etc.) if we add those in next year...we will probably sell X 1000's more. overhead bosses looks at the stats and says "you're right, here's double the budget and double the devs on your team."
wash, rinse, repeat. until Live becomes a viable option on par with 2k.
Kickstarter scenarios are not charities either. These are real people or real companies that need R&D money/purchase to give the people what they truly want. but again, if roster editing or franchise mode is the only reason you play. then by all means Do not waste your cash.Comment
