Unlocked the WNBA and NBA game of the day and after a few games I have to admit this is a very fun basketball game to play! Game looks really nice too. Commentary is not the greatest and hopefully something EA can improve on for NBA 20. Love the mix of offense and defensive plays. Saw a play with Green of the Warriors running down the court and making a Two-Handed Block. Looked pretty sweet!

I like how players interact with the environment after a play (running into a cameraman and during a celebration.)

It feels just about right. I'm sure there will be some tweaking of the sliders and patches added after the game is released. Glad I pre-ordered the game. My initial impressions weren't the greatest but after unlocking the other gameplay modes i'm pretty impressed! For those still on the fence, give the demo a try and unlock the other gameplay modes.

The icon represents your play style. The grey meter is your stamina and depletes over time (short and long term). The one that starts to turn green or red is your mentality meter. If you are all the way red or green, you'll have different boosts/penalties based on your playstyle (shooters shoot, rim protectors block and rebound, etc.).

I always turn that stuff off but I think I’m going to play some games with it on and check it out. The mentality meter has me intrigued. What kind of things effect this? Are you saying if a guy is a shot blocker and he blocks a shot it goes up?

I've never like playing with meters and icons on I like my game to look as real as possible visually. But I find myself using the shot meter a lot in Live so maybe I'll try it and see how it is.

seems the 2k infection of green releases is way to easy in live it seems. Also wasuup with these layups that are heavy contested going in so much?

Played the demo and Play Now games a few times and this is actually the first time in the past few years where I had fun playing Live like the old days.

It's so much smoother and cleaner this year. Except for some of those heavily contested layups going in, I never got frustrated or thought those same old legacy issues were holding the game back. Feels like we have finally have more control now.

Now I'm hoping they've finally fixed H2H.

Can't wait to play the whole game

Played a bit more of The One today and the 3 on 3 game is a lot of fun. I'm still more of a 5 on 5 sim guy and also more of a MyLeague player but as long as 2k has an in depth MyLeague mode I'll stick with them for my primary focus and use Live as a secondary game to play The One mode. Still a lot of fun though.

Yeah that was probably an oversight. Or maybe the crowd was programmed to do what needs to be done to prevent any player of either gender to be injured by any means necessary.

2K has established foot plant in league / game management simulation game.

EA is just coming back on a market where 2K has the lead in market share and community engagement. EA can’t make a dent in simulation but found a niche in NBA street ball game - in The One. That’s where EA is good at. Perhaps as good or better than 2K’s MyCareer.

I don’t think right now EA should foray into sim nation. That’s too much to spread thin their focus and getting The One right and all improved should be rewarding for them and for us players.

I don't disagree. I think The One mode is pretty good and definitely worth my time. I'm just worried there'll be a day when an in depth basketball simulation league isn't an option. However, as I said, as long as both E.A. and 2k are putting out something similar to what they are putting out this year and last year I'll be a paying customer because both corporations are excelling at different things; which is really what your point is as well.

Yeah CPU cannot defend the pick and roll, for me it's nearly gamebreaking in terms of playing vs CPU 5v5. I'll criticize this the same way I did with the 2k18, which was also terrible in that regard, I really with all my heart hope they'll fix it in 2k19.



But, to add, I cannot believe that in 2018 we have basketball games where the CPU is unable to defend one of the most basic and fundamental basketball plays. I know games today have online gaming probably set as a priority number one, but still, I mean I enjoy 2k14 more than the latest basketball games because it's challenging to score and outsmart the CPU.


Eh, I guess I'll just have to forget about these days and adapt to the online community that is accept that games today are built to play online
