It doesn't have one because there isn't one, that assist is for the USER to assist him/her the CPU uses the same thing except its called On-ball assist and I got that info from the manual same as last years nothing changed it still called and goes by the same name and has the same effect, in the manual last year they broke it down and explained it.

So lowering the user one has a differnce on the cpu one as well right? If so thats what I've been doing and I see a change big time except that I can't shoot over taller guys then me (kobe) which is VERY realstic.

Correction to my last post the CPU does not have an assist and uses On-ball Physical Defense is what I ment to say.

User On-ball Defense Assist is used by the USER that being a Human being ,when your CPU players/teamates are guarding other players they use On-ball Physical Defense, now when you the USER are guarding a CPU player you may need some help or "assistance" thus the slider is for use by a Human being and that slider is called "User On-ball Defense Assist" named for what it does it helps or "assist" you in guarding your CPU opponent.

Its an extra slider for the USER ONLY and the CPU has no use for assistance its just there in the programing its the CPU as in the "COMPUTER CODE" or program it requires no help its self effcient and very good at what its programed to do we can alter it program but theres no way the CPU needs assistance we only adjust its parameters by adjusting the sliders.

If you try this in one on one mode you will see that the CPU still gets the blocks BUT if the player is equal to your height or shorter he won't get the block but if he is 1" taller then you, he will get the block. So I figured if you put On Ball Defense Assist for User down to 0, which what I'm finding also effects the computer, you will be able to shoot over people that are 1-2" taller then you but no someone whose 5-7" taller then you.

You are correct in your thinking on that it does effect how the CPU reacts to your adjustments and will assist you in guarding CPU opponents.

Imagine trying to guard AI and hes pretty crafty in his ball handling so just crank up the "ASSIST" and you should be able to guard him better with assistance simple.

Lowering the ASSISTANCE puts you at a disadvantage because now you "Guard" has been lowered and the CPU can take advantage of your off ball play so don't lighten up tighten up or lower the CPU's On-ball Physical Defense.

This is straight out of the manual....

ON-BALL DEFENSE ASSIST...Set the amount of defensive positioning assistance for your current defender on the ball.

The USER is for you personally to guard defenders...you the USER.

WOW what did EA do to this game. Confusion galore LOL. I understand you though. Keep Assitance at 56 (Pared 1.1) but lower CPU On Ball Psycial D to 0 or something else. I would say 0-5.

Strange thing about zero its really not zero but the CPU's code imbedded to function at some level...how much I've no idea but its never really going to be at zero maybe the level of minimum acceptance for the CPU to function and be effective some call this the "Hard Code" or CORE progamming.

It will never be at the true zero number it can't by design its a running computer program is all with an advance default for its AI.
