Then leave the autism out of it. Take any HS Basketball manager who NEVER plays in games and then he scores 20 IN 4 MINUTES. That is awesome!

The autism, I don't care what level, that just adds on to the awesomeness of his accomplishment.

This kid scored 20 and was the high scoring player of the game + player of the game and he tied the 3 pt school record. One shot that he took was a 2pt because his foot was on the line.

There would be very few kids that could do what he did in their first 4 minutes of varsity basketball.

Redbird, sorry to disappoint, but his 2-pointer was a "double pump layup"

There was a story about him in the local paper today. It says he didn't start talking till he was 5, and he was cut from the JV team because he was "too short." Also, he can't play in sectionals b/c he only played one regular season game.

lol i wouldnt exactly say im a *****. i gave him his props and defended him early on.. just recently i was just questioning his degree of autism. knowing what I know now, i dont take back what I said, how could i? but im glad hes getting the respect and media attention.

the dude has overcome alot... helluva lot more than me.. all i had growing up was a speech problem... on the video site thatvideosite.com, there is a video of him on CBS. He seems to hold his own rather well after a shaky start of life. Quite proud of him.

Well let me just say they are turning this whole thing into a Huge spectacle... I am from Rochester, NY and greece Athena is a suburb of Rochester, NY... Well I went to the sectional championships tonight and J Mac, thats what they are calling him, his team won their class AA championship tonight.. But let me tell you The whole damn game they had a camera trained on J-Mac, Tons of fans were wearing J-Mac T-shirts, they even had a damn Boom guy holding the mic over J-mac the entire game...

After the game he had at least 15-20 reporters surrounding him asking him all kinds of questions... I mean come on its a feel good story, but damn this is going to far...

Re: Autistic kid gets in the game and goes wild

were the cameras expecting him to play again? or were they just there to see his reaction to the team winning the title?

i know the last thing he wanted was to shift focus away from the team and its recognition of winning and the BIG GAME with all the cameras... damn media has to ruin everything alot of times.

no they knew he wasnt gonna play, because he is just the manager he never even suits up.. He is just on the bench in his shirt and tie, he gets the players water, and gives them pep talks before the game and during timeouts... So no they didnt expect him to play... It was a freakin circus, a lot of people were like this is just crazy...
