I read all of your post about Live. That's were I got that you don't like Live. If you did like it, it would seem that some of your post would be positive. That's all I'm saying. Hey, if you do like Live or don't it makes no difference to me.

I thought we were going to have a discussion about a game but, like most people like yourself you resorted to calling someone a fanboy because I disagreed with you.

See, none "fanboys" can talk about a game and have a mature conversion. Discuss they're likes and dislikes about games. Look at post from Pared, countryboy, FF, Dre and some others who have both or one of the games. They can have a discussion (mature by the way) about the games without name calling.

Re: Where Live absolutely blows 2k out of the water:

I have Live and I only rented 2k9 this year. I was turned off by the demo. I am also a member of the 2ksportsforum but I mainly post in the real basketball part because of how bad 2k9 is as well as the fanboys/people whining about the game.

To dude with the blazers icon in his name, I dunno what to tell you. Like you said, you only played the demo of Live. I've played 2k mainly on next gen, but like I said I had to stop because of their lame online play. Esp with that glitchy 2k9.

I agree that people in NBA Live travel. It's weird. If you don't believe that they do major slides run into the lane and fake a fade away... you will slide like 2 feet.

I'm not here to make excuses for either game, but I prefer Live this year and it's in my opinion a better basketball product. I'm sorry we got into this argument about help defense when the point was that 1 vs 1 on the perimeter Live blows away 2k. And has always. 07 and 08 Live were just stupid lame, though.

You can trust me or not, dude, you can call 2k sim all you want, but it's all hype. Both games are on the same level. 2k has better animations. That is the main difference. You can be totally cheesy in both. That being said, in LIVE there are actual counters for cheese. Remember the lead pass last year in 2k8...? So, as someone who has played thousands (not exaggerating) of hours of online gaming over the course of my lifetime, I endorse NBA LIVE has the true medium for testing skill.

You can say there should be help defense, and I agree to point... but when certain teams have 'hep defense' that makes you miss just because you are next to a certain player (like KG) that is BS. And yes 2k does have something like that. 2k, as I have said, has plenty of hidden formula that decide that game. The only way to bypass them, is by DUNKING EVERY TIME. That is why dunking every time is how you win online. Where as in Live, if your release is good you will make shots.

I played this cat online who picked Team Canada... I picked Team USA... going in all overconfident and by using ball movement and making 3s dude BEAT the crap out of me. It's a 2k way of thinking to say "WHAT THATS UNSIM ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!" Like... "OMG RONDO CANT MAKE A THREE!!" But to me, I'd rather have 'unreal' user control (the ability to make every shot with a perfect release) than 'forced realism.'

Really, I could debate you on this for days... but my point still stands. We can stop talking about help defense because you don't understand what I am saying, You keep focusing on the same thing and saying it over and over again. You sound like a republican presidential candidate...

Argue with me on the main point: do you believe that the on ball offense/defense system is better in NBA Live or in NBA 2k? I, for one, believe that it's years ahead on NBA Live. Isomotion is kind of a sham and I prefer the 'dribble stick' to the 'shot stick.'

Peace

Oops, btw. I kept wondering why you said "Agreed"

You say Live blows 2k out of the water and you came in here to defend 2k. Sad, dude.

^ I meant SAW. Sorry.

And you absolutely have to play Live for a long period of time. You are very ignorant to have played the demo (what for 20 minutes? lol) and tell people who own Live or, even, own both games, which one is better.

as a 2k fanboy there is sliding in NBA2k (just watch the defensive player trying to keep up with the offensive player)...the hitchy transition animations doesnt help either and no i dont have Live (just based off the demo the footplanting is far more superior) will get it later on since i have other games lined up at the moment...

I played both demo's at least 50 times and when I say 2k9 is the best sports game (with the right sliders/rosters) its comparison to CH 2k8 which IMO was the best. When I said you were on to something I was thinking about 2k9's one on one game which I have three major issues with that havent been touched on.

This is exactly why comparison threads dont belong in the individual game forums.

There are a million of these redundant threads in the basketball forum, which is wher this one is now

Re: Where Live absolutely blows 2k out of the water:

I just picked up live over the weekend so now I have all three titles my opinions:

NBA 2k:
Really strong, especially now that the online play is better. A little glitchy, frustrating misses that nba players would never miss, wacky computer trades in the franchise mode, but all in all a wonderful game. Special feature:www.theotherseason.com

NBA Live 09

Fun, quick paced, a little to arcadey to me. I hate how guys like d wade are practically kissing the rim on their dunk animations, but the one on one stuff blows 2k out of the water. Its fun sometimes but I get frustrated often, and I hate the signature shot feature, good concept poor execution. Special feature: www.easports.com/nbalive09/dna.jsp

NBA 09

Really quick paced, very fun. Really good move in my opinion by making the game different then the other two. By making it simpler, and adding things like mini games they have made the game simply more fun. Some weird animations and one on one defense is equally strange but its quickly forgiven with what i think the best feature in any of the 3 games the life mode. Consoles: 360 and PS3
Games I'm Playing Now:
Fable 2 9.5
NBA 09: The Inside8.0
Madden 09 : 8.0

Re: Where Live absolutely blows 2k out of the water:

I'm such a Live noob. It's been so long since I played I am just enjoying all of the new features. Like I said, the ability to push off your defender and create space is just amazing.

Lately, i have been working on taking charges. At first I thought that left and right on the stick was stupid for taking charges, but now I realize you can use that for which way the person is going to drive and flop. It works really well with Steve Nash.

That's what I love about Live... I know for a FACT if someone was really good at it (I'm trying to get that good, but I don't have as much time as I like) they could literally shut someone down EVERY time. Even if it was Kobe. They could either rip him, take the charge, or bump him.

The only problem is I am like a kid in a candy store. I find myself ALWAYS trying to take charges or go for the steal when I am playing the computer and practicing my defense.

It's also cool that they have certain animations, like that one animation where you are pressed up against someone and your hand is out and they are dribbling... where it's like 'press steal now to knock it away.' The first time I saw it, I was like wow his hand is really close to the ball... I bet he can steal it. And bam. The only problem is it's hard to force people into that position lol obviously.

i don't like the perimeter play on Live it's scripted like and all you do is keep switching hands until you get pass the defender.

I like 2k's better

What i mention is things that Live is better at not what 2k is bad at

Hmm AI. I dunno. Maybe. I might give you that one.

But gameplay, graphics, and animation all fall into the same category. The gameplay of 2k is actually worse and 'more scripted' than Live it just looks so much more fluid that you fall into thinking it's better.

Like I said, we know that if you get inside you can score every time on either game ,but at least Live gives you the chance to really stop someone one on one. If you gave yourself some real time to play with quickstrike offense/defense you would see what I mean.

NBA Live used to have a 1 on 1 mode, and I wish they still did. If they did, people would really be able to appreciate it more. A lot of people just cross back and forth and try to get inside, but it's much more involved than that. IMO Quickstrike is way more advanced than isomotion. Isomotion is meant to look good not to be effective.

Like I said, 2k just LOOKS sim it doesn't play sim. IF you wanna 'play sim' or adjust sliders... Live can be really sim, too.
