The consumer is not the problem here.

You have some complainers but that's hardly the core of the problem.

My point on consumers was separate. The main part of my comment was price and quality.

if backbreaker is 110% all players editable, names etc.. i wont buy madden either. tired of the same old same. spending 60 bucks and getting beefed up graphics and rare gameplay upgrades that matter. not worth 20 bucks!!

Sadly, I'm not having fun with either title as well. 2k's crazy player control and Live's ridiculous contact animations make each game unplayable to me. This is the first time I haven't had fun with ANY title in a given year. Upon release we were all gaga over the games, but soon realized it just because it was a new hoops title.

I won't say I'm done with each series because they're the only shot I have at a basketball simulation. I just want an overall better effort from EA and 2K.

Please just give me 2k8 player controls and some decent graphics and I will be happy.

I can't believe I was driven to play live this year. That lasted about 2 weeks. What a depressing year for basketball games, it looked so promising.

I hate doom and gloom about video games, but basketball gaming this year just wasn't fun.

I share the same sentiments as you. I still have 2k10 but will probably trade it in soon. It's weird to see this happen though as I remember for about the 1st 2-3 weeks after these games released how everyone thought this was the best year of basketball ever. Don't know what happened.

Re: Done with Live and 2K...

Both games looked great from the outside, but once you got under the hood it was a different story for two different reasons.

For me personally 2k started out great, another year some better additions, but then you realize the lack of ability to control what your doing, the bugs and glitches(I lost 4-5 associations and myplayer seasons alone from some of these-inbound glitch/clone glitch etc.), the lack of a semi-decent server to play any team-up games/pick-up games, It just got to be a bummer to play and struggle through.

Then with Live, well improved from last year from the control and animation stand point, but just very poorly executed from the cpu-ai standpoint. I love franchise, it was unplayable to me in Live(bad stats, poor cpu gameplay). Playing with my friends in Live run was very cool, but you can only play against cheesers for so long before the game becomes monotonous. After that there was nothing else me.

Im still confident that 2k can return to form next year, I hope they do. Maybe Live can stick around aswell to keep them motivated.

It's doesn't have to be a homerun. You need to lay a foundation to show the consumer were the game is going.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

If you have an Xbox you could try Inside Drive 2004. I think it was backwrds compatible on the 360. That's the last hoops game I truly enjoyed for more than a week or two.

My whole mentality when I play these games is fun man, IMO thats what it should be about.....I play video games for fun...If I want hardcore realism, ill step on the actual hardwood lol...and I do often.

I finally just realized that as long as im playing a GAME, GAME-like things are going to happen. Im so passed all that other nonsense people go back and forth over its not even funny lol. I think im changing like alot of other members on here....But im not giving up on sports gaming, im just embracing them for what they are I guess...I dunno

Im going to play the games I enjoy man,

And ive been enjoying 2k10 alot this year. Live was a great alternative for awhile as well. win-win for me...this sports year has been great to me.

If playing NBA JAM brings the FUN back for you, I think thats exactly what you should do man.

Sports gaming companies don't have time to lay foundations in this day & age from a bottom-line perspective.
