I believe the buyers in there early 20's would know a little about Jordan. So I say its a wash.

@ people not knowing who Michael Jordan is...

If you even say Michael people either think Jackson or Jordan...

Guess kids dont know who Mr.Jackson is neither???

My 8 year old cousin went to go see "This is it" a movie she asked her dad to see...

Guess I dont know who The Beetles are...

Sure they know who he is but many young people don't understand his significance.They don't know why players worship him and try to be him. They weren't there for "the shot" or the flu game etc.

I really wouldn't be surprised if you sat MJ and LBJ side by side to 15 and under kids, asked them to pick their favorite, and lbj won........

I think the argument has changed to what significance Jordan would have on a cover to who is currently more popular than him among kids. It's not about comparing Jordan to who is now. To me it's more about having the greatest player as a symbol of what the game is.

Peter Moore is right.. Micheal Jordan won't make me buy nba 2k11 just as LIVE changing their name to ELITE won't make me buy their's either.

You know if we weren't living in an era where information was available to you at the touch of a button you might have a point. However, considering you can find countless Jordan mix videos on YouTube as well as the Flu Game along with all his other huge moments. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, I was born in 84, not exactly the time to be born to see exactly how BIG Star Wars was when originally released and the kind of impact it had. I got into the series simply because my mom had the VHS tapes of the trilogy. You know how many Jordan fans have the Jordan VHS' and DVD's for their kids to find? Not to mention NBA TV showing all this stuff and of course YouTube and the like. I remember the "Air Time," "His Airness," "Come Fly With Me," "Learning to Fly" and "Above and Beyond" tapes that came out during the dynasty and have been re-released on DVD since. Jordan and basketball are synonymous at this point.

Watching Jordan on youtube, VHS or DVD doesn't have the same impact as to watching as it happen, especially when they can now see Kobe or LBJ in there prime... I bet AAU players of today are probably saying pattern the game after Kobe instead of MJ.

I totally agree with this point. Watching the guy since his Freshman year thru his his whole career is much more impactful, than watching a few highlight videos.

Unless younger generations watch hordes of footage they cannot fully appreciate what he did for the game. I doubt there are many that would be students of the game to that degree. I know that when I was younger I didn't seek out old Oscar Robertson vids.

EA says its not important today. Soon enough EA will have exclusive licensing to any basketball player with an M or a J in their name.
