That is like saying "Why do you think Bill Gates isn't in the Windows 7 commercials?"

He's the greatest to ever lace them up, and he's the man on the logo. He's still relevant in basketball in almost every single way. (NBA owner, Basketball sneaker company owner, apparel, basketball camps, slam dunk contest judge, etc.)

If I can make my nephews 10-12yrs old, interested in Pistol Pete (who is definitely not relevant anymore) it wouldn't take much to make Jordan relevant in the eyes of a young kid who isn't familiar with him.

Being on the cover of the best basketball video game in the world for example.

While all of that may be true for people who like basketball but coming from a casual basketball gamer I dont think MJ has the same pull for casual gamers as he use to. The Jordan brand may be doing well and making Nike a lot of money but thats for more hardcore basketball fans. I would assume most of yall are pretty big into basketball but for the casual gamer I dont think they care that Jordan is on the cover vs Durant. Also I think some people buy MJs shoes not because its from Jordan but since he makes good shoes.

Jordan will matter a little bit. Many people will be psyched to play as His Airness, but I do think that if Elite somehow beats 2K game-wise that the playable Jordan won't matter at all to most.

I couldn't care less about MJ being in the game, and that's not because I don't know Michael Jordan or what he represents, I just don't buy into the hype. Likewise, I wouldn't be tempted to buy a soccer game if it had Pele, or a hockey game if it had Gretsky. The gaming experience itself is the only thing I care about when purchasing a game.

I was a bit surprised that Jordan was there, even as big as he is. Still, it just goes to show how much of an impact Jordan makes.

If kids don't know who Jordan is, then they don't really know the sport.

Even TODAY, all you hear is about him and his impact to the game. Anyone that follows the sport knows who he is, and kids that somewhat know will have Dad right there explaining to him why he is the greatest.

Peter Moore was just doing his job - to downplay a seemingly big move for the 2k team.

Nothing wrong with that. Just don't follow his lead... you have people buying the game TWICE just to frame the damn cover, unopened. It's silly.

I can't see how having Durant on the cover has something to do with the game itself. So ok, they have captured his motions (have they?)...but from what I've seen, it's not like it makes the game totally different because of Durant (unless I'm wrong here). But the MJ challenge gives you some true connection to the cover. Even if you don't care much about Jordan, you know you have a mode in the game that got something to do with the cover. It's not just the graphics of the cover, it's really in the game. And I'm sure that by Oct 5, most, if not all, people who think about buying 2K11, know it.

Sure, some people will ignore this mode and buy the game because they want a new basketball title, and maybe bought previous 2K's, but I'm pretty sure that the Jordan impact is much bigger than that.

When you have a specific mode that concerns the guy on the cover, it's totally different than just having the guy on the cover/have him as your spokesman (among others).

Your absouletly right. THat is peter moores job, I love that ELite put Kevin Durant on the cover though, a great up and comer that will be an allstar for many years to come. I bet portland feels dumb (again) nolw.
