Re: Has EA finally given this series an identity?

I got to wait to see it when I play it in my hands. I remember they said they had "Total Control" in Live 04 and they really didn't have it. So it is a wait and see approach for me.

Damn I should've waited on this thread, I'm forgettin most people still have to play it lol!

Guess I'll bring it back it round demo time if it doesn't stay up long enough.

Jano sense you had a chance to play the game, although it was limited, how do you feel about the I can't go back because of lack of control statement I keep hearing from the ea people.

I know you didn't ask me. But since I played it, I'll bite. NO. It's really good and the total control is rewarding, especially defensively. Offensively it's not a far cry from 10, although with more time that feeling may change. Using what ever hand I want on the fly like that is super intuitive.

Really? I would think the difference would be huge.

I think so, I've played Live for years (Never liked 2k) and Live 10 kinda copied some things from 2k which was ok, but kinda felt like 2k won once they did that.

As a long time Live fan, I am skeptical of the new controls, but I think it will work out once people actually play the demo...I'm all about gameplay and control and I'm excited to see what I can do with the new controls...

just waiting on that demo now!

the lack of 2 man anim. makes a huge impact, but Im saying the scope of control available. I mean basically your using the sticks in a really similar way and style offensively.

What is the point of playing a game that determines everything for you through dice rolls and animations? I don't want to miss a jump shot based on some under the hood math problems. In real life do players lock into each other? I understand where EA is headed with this game and its going to make people think about everything they do and this is what I would rather have.

You sound like some kind of EA commercial man

Ive been in this forum for years and nobody has ever used those words to describe this or any other basketball game

Good Lord at least give your own thoughts.

I would say depends on what you think an identity is

OK, but even though your using the sticks in a similar way it's my understanding that the response and control is a major step up, right?

you must have also missed the point that the other game got rid of two man animations or has found a way to get around canned animations, while still bring a realistic experience, i can really see this displayed in their gamescom videos, i haven't ruled out nba elite 11, i just don't want to see anymore videos (except for the one that EA will release), i don't want to hear another thing the Elite mods have to say concerning nba elite 11, i just want to get my hand on the demo, and try it out for myself, but i doubt the demo wil be much different from the videos we have been seeing, as is that elite used live 10 as the foundation and these issues were present in live 10 and earlier.

I can easily tell that 2 player animations is not all gone from that game just by looking at some dunk on screen shots. The videos show no physics at all and if you think 2 player anims is gone, can you please explain to me what replaced them in 2k11?

imo no. I didn't get that in my limited time. Possibly I don't understand exactly what you mean by "control" . crossing over is the same motion. it didn't feel and different really. doing a spin move wasn't as simple as 10 in which I think you just pressed up. this game I had to do a full qtr. circle I think. don't quote me tho. point is, I didn't feel as If I had any more tools at my disposal. But what was there was fine. the real difference is how the physics tie in to the inputs and the reactions. not specifically how I use the stick to input controls, they're just not that different.
