Scoring should mimic real life games; guys shouldn't score what they'd score in 48 min. in 24.
lessen the effectiveness of dunks down-low; not everyone in real life can dunk simply because they have the ball under the basket.
Every single thing being said about D is true, it's just not effective enough. It's way too easy to make full court passes, as well.
One more thing, if their gonna continue to use the shot meter, it should be a factor for every shot, not just the 3's and perimeter. I think bad shooter should miss most of the time unless the persons timing is impeccable. While I'm on the subject, I think the meters speed should be dictated by the amount of pressure thats on the shooter, and the situation at the time. They should also put a meter on layups.
    Thanks, I needed that!

Uh, what game DOES mimic real life in scoring? Especially one that doesn't sacrifice a real NBA pace for it? There is none. I used to be adamant about playing 12 minute quarters but now I realize it's just foolish to expect realistic scoring in that amount of time in a game. Especially if you don't slow down the game. I think ID 2004 is just the right pace for the most part. I'd like to see more variable speed when players are in a half court set. Like, sometimes, players will jog through the plays, sometimes they'll run, stuff like that.

Personally, I think the D needs to be improved in two crucial areas. One is defending the entry pass better: make it tougher for lobs to be successful, have defenders more active, jumping up and down waving their arms, trying to deny the lob pass. Another is, have players step up to take a blocking or charging foul whenever a player is going up for a dunk or layup. This would significantly cut down on penetration, and only the good penetrators will be successful, and the rest would be discouraged from driving into the lane.

I also think the passes need to be improved, where timing becomes much more critical in passing the ball. Maybe have slight indicators to show a player is ready to catch the pass. Have ratings for players good at catching and stuff. For instance, you should be able to tell if a player is ready to catch a pass if you see his head is turned towards the passer or something. If he's not turning his head and you pass it to him, the pass should either go out of bounds or be stolen.

give me some motion cap. with this game and it's perfect don't touch nothing. The players already go around screens and everything else if they just did it with some animation it would be beautiful oh and better graphics but who cares when it's fun.

                  Name Database...

I think the announers should recognize same last and first names. Names such as Bryant, Collins, Duncan, etc. Should be recognised on the created players because they are in the game.

Also, I think there should be a database of First and Last names that can be used in the game. Maybe the 50 most common First and last names, with an emphasis on names not in the game.

                  Lynn, Lyn, Len

                  Shawn, Sean

                  Terry, Teri, Terri

I would suggest either a couple different spellings, or a Sound Like option. Such as:

                  First name: Teri
Sounds like: TERRY (In database) or if it is not in the database None...

                  Heck or Initial Recognition:

I would rather be announced as LM Collins or LMC than #29.

The Annoumcers could just take the first letters of yr name and call yu that. Tom Jones is TJ and so on...

                  Introducing #29 L...... M........ C.......

                  Assist by LM Collins

LC with the Flush, he's on fire... Heck, it works better...

                              Perfect the FTs
And 1s are horrible. There's TOO MANY of them. The fouls on the lane (and everywhere for that matter) need to make the shot or lay up harder. Now it seems that the shot actually has more of a chance to go in when you're fouled. I've taken lots of bad shots that rarely go in otherwise but when I get fouled, they find their way in the basket amazingly often (like 60-70% of the time). Add options to try and draw the foul. Make fouls on jumpers and other non-lay ups more frequent. Keep in mind that the NBA averages for FT attempts are about 18-33 per game. Ofcourse, this only if the quarter length is long enough to average 78-87 shots per game not counting those shots that are called shooting fouls. That would make it so that if there is 100-110 total shots durig the game, FT attempts should go by the NBA averages. This is IMPORTANT to the realism of the game which is a must.

                              Perfect the fouling AI
Make the AI try to stop a hot player by fouling him. And when a player is in foul trouble, make him to try and stay away from contact. This would add strategy as you try to go at him and he has to try and avoid the foul while still playing defense. But don't make it so that he just stops playing defense or miraculously stops getting called for the foul.

                              Miscellanous
Lay ups are too automatic. Add different shooting sliders for lay ups, short range, medium and long range. And a new attribute skill for lay ups. The traffic rating should come into play here cause in real life it means everything how free you are to do what you want. Traffic animations need to be added.

As mentioned above, being in traffic affect enormously in what the player is able to do (pass, shoot, dribble, look around...). Sometimes it's impossible for the player to do anything except pick up his dribble and fight for the chance to pass the ball away to the nearest guy. And sometimes he isn't even able to do that.

Add moving screens. Bad passes. Double teams have to be restricting, not just a sign that somebody else is open which is followed by a simple button press to beat the double team. Make the player more prone to turnovers. Now the only ones (almost) come off steals and if you really concentrate you can average like 5 turnovers per game. Turnover frequency slider (other than steals)?

Give the player the option to try a jumper, a lay up/tear drop or dunk from anywhere. Feels generic having to get to a certain distance from the basket until your player goes to a lay up animation. The one handed tear drop-like shot is nice but you have to have more control over how and when you want to shoot. Simply put add different buttons for jumpers, lay ups/tear drops and dunks.
