i have pasted all the info you supplied me with into notepad and will tackle it soon. i believe though i may go ahead and sell 08 on ebay as i really like 06 much better. i am basically fed up with the whole gaming market as a whole not just ea.

just a quick note the reasoning behind the cpu v cpu. i really don't like to sim because it just takes something from the game for me. i really like coach mode but it just takes too long to finish. i often try to kinda hide when playing hoops then my wife would say from the kitchen "who's winning?". I can set up cpu vs cpu go out and mow the yard and when finished whola game finished and i didnt have to sim.

it's been awhile since visiting this site but i'll put it in favs this time. i need to find a good ncaa football 06 thread when i get a chance but i may go back to 04 like you said ( i currently have 6 games in my ps2 port, ncaa 04 & 06 is two of them).

I really enjoy NCAA 2004. My CPUvCPU sliders and house rules are posted on the football slider board. Between that and CH2k8, I have no desire to play anything else, although during baseball season I will probably drop in MVP college baseball (which is also pretty fun IMHO).

Personally, I would encourage you to hang on to 2k8 rather than revert to CH2k6. I really enjoyed 2k6, but if you like legacy mode the crazy recruit heights, player progression, and editing bugs ended up killing the game for me. 2k8 has its own quirks that are frustrating, but legacy is much more stable over several years, gameplay is just as fun, and anything that is a little wacky is easily editable in open legacy with just a few extra minutes of work.

Whatever you do, I hope it works out. If you need any info about my settings, lemme know.

For what it is worth - PS2 users

I had a lot more time on my hands last week and tried an experiment. I noticed that the recruit heights are still all whacked, so I went through a few conferences (including my own) and knocked many players down. Previously, I had noted that I was slowly moving my BLOCK slider back down every few games. Now I know why.

Bottom line is that the game is even more fun with players having more realistic heights. I let this go for several years so editing is a little slow, but I now know that I will take the time to edit Freshmen each season. This also affected my sliders enough that I will most likely post another version soon. (unfortunately, I am very busy again)

PROS:
- Gs can now drive to the hoop and dominate
- more fouls than before
- more action, the game really moves up and down the floor
- "Open" legacy works just like "Closed" except you can pick the starting team AND LEAVE AFTER ONE SEASON (first team only)

CONS:
- editing
- b/c you must edit, legacies must be "Open"
- you inherit stats from coach you replace (W-L %, etc., but not attributes)

My system for all teams was taking 2 inches off each player EXCEPT:
- PGs
- any player rated A- or higher
- only 1 inch reduction of B+ players
- other instances of discretion (e.g. SFs not lower than 6'4", PFs not lower than 6'5", etc.)

My plan for editing Freshmen will be similar, but based on rankings. I might consider editing Cs over 7'1" by 3 inches. Most likely, the top 15 recruits will not have their height changed, and the next 15 only by 1 inch. I will also jack up stats on the top 5-8 recruits to simulate the "one and done" recruits, and the next 10 as well just a little, since these guys will be early leavers eventually.

As always, when I have this worked out, I will make a more official post so people can try it out or comment.

I picked up 2k8 for the 360 on yesterday. The coach mode is pretty good. I played as Florida hosting Oregon and lost by about 8. UF has some pretty good shooters. I then played as USC on the road facing UCLA. O.J. Mayo wasn't very aggressive offensively but he did distribute the ball well in the loss. Diarra did his thing in the paint offensively and on the defensive boards though. The only thing I hate is that the on-the-fly subs don't work. It's not a huge issue b/c if you access the substitution menu as soon as a foul is committed you can get your subs in and out.

The only thing I see under Coach Settings in-game is the messages. You can have it show only plays called by user, show all plays (called by user or cpu controlled PG) or off (shows no box when play is called).

Also, I posted these numbers after 1 game with juk34man's sliders last night...

Well I've been silently reading for some time now and I use a ps2.
I posted a thread in the forum and someone redirected me here.
I'm on a PS2 and I was wondering if you could call an offensive play.
I press a button on the D-Pad, but nothing.
My players just stand there until the shot clock runs down and they are forced to take a shot. I really want to be a coach mode player, but I cannot get passed this problem. Help please!

Anyone know how to get the players to purposely commit a foul at the end of a close game where you need to foul them to stop the clock?

Also, if I don't wanna spend time doing the development drills, do the players still progress throughout the season just by playing in the games?

simply press the back button while on defense to get an intentional foul.

...and yes, your players still progress without doing the bonus drills.

I just started a career legacy with my alma mater (South Carolina State) using ninjoid's sliders. Leading South Carolina in the first game of the season, 22-12, with 3:43 to go in the first half.
