Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Well... started a new legacy with Florida A&M, took them to NCAA tourney in year one but was fired in year 3... no other teams signed me so had to start over AGAIN.

Started brand new with Maine, began incredibly well, 5 coaching points in each of my first 2 years led to a good job offer from San Diego. In 4th year with San Diego took them to NIT... in 5th year took them to the NCAAs, and in 6th year took them to the Final Four. Was offered (and of course accepted) North Carolina job after only 8 total coaching seasons, this has to be the fastest I've ever gotten to a power conference.

Even more amazing, I only played one half of one game my entire Legacy to this point. Roy Williams retires exactly when I'm red hot as a coach and I get offered the best job available... crazy! I was thinking my eventual power conference job would be with a team without much history, and I would work with them for years to turn them into a powerhouse, instead I'm gift wrapped arguably the best gig in the country

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just finished season 5 at Nevada (season 7 overall), finished 40-0 16-0 WAC (all hoopcast sim). Won WAC reg season and conf tourney titles (5th consecutive season winning both), had #21 RPI ranking and entered the tournament ranked 1st in both the Media Poll and Coaches Poll got the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tourney.

      NCAA Tourney Results

      1st round- Defeated 16 seed Holy Cross (14-19) 134-73
      2nd round- Defeated 8 seed Michigan State (22-12) 100-60
      Sweet 16- Defeated 5 seed Texas Tech (27-7) 105-73
      Elite 8- Defeated 2 seed Clemson (29-5) 110-77
      Final 4- Defeated 1 seed West Virginia (29-7) 101-77
National Championship Game- Defeated 1 seed Georgetown (31-5) 97-95

As you can see my tourney run was pretty uneventful until the national title game where Georgetown played much better than they did in our regular season meeting in Hawaii (beat them 85-67), we were down 93-84 with just over 3 minutes left when at a dead ball I decided to forget playing matchups and put my 5 most effective players out on the court in an effort to make a final run; PG-G.Whitworth(88), SG-D.Neal(88), SF-I.Sorrentine(91), PF-A.Thompson(83), C-B.Frey(86).

My relaxed defensive pressure contributed heavily to my deficit so I turned it all the way up and we were able to cut the deficit to 95-94 with 21 seconds left and possession of the ball. My best player Sorrentine made a close shot and got fouled with 16 seconds left, after he hit the free throw the score was 97-95. Georgetown went down and their SG J.Milton missed a medium shot with 1 second remaining, Neal grabbed the rebound and the clock expired. Final Score 97-95, perfect season accomplished and history made in the process. The national title was the first in Nevada’s basketball history and the first for a mid-major in the 64/65 team era.

The season featured a 40 game winning streak (from 12/6/2013 to 4/7/2014) we finished ranked #1 in the Mid-Major, Media and Coaches polls. My coach Matthew Graves won WAC Coach of the Year for the 5th consecutive season and National Coach of the Year for the first time. I had 2 All-WAC players, C B.A. Frey (1st team) and PF Allen Thompson (2nd team. We averaged 113.2 ppg (32 100 point games) and had a 44.8 average margin of victory (NCAA record).

I lose 7 players (5 starters) from my national championship winning team so we’ll take a big step back talent-wise heading into next season. I had 5 coaching points and used 2 of them to improve offense (now rated A-), 2 for defense (now rated A-) and the other to improve discipline (now rated B+). My overall coach rating is now A-, my overall career record is 226-19 (.922) and my NCAA Tourney record is 14-5. I fired assistants Jim Yarbrough (B-, former SE Louisiana HC) and Mike Adras (B-, former Northern Arizona HC) and hired Pat Kennedy (B, former Towson HC) and Rick Scruggs (B, former Gardner-Webb HC) who are better at teaching and discipline.

I signed the #1 recruiting class in the country featuring the #1, #6, #7, #15 and #17 players in the nation so my team will continue to have great depth despite the overall talent decline. Though we will take a step back we’ll should be a preseason top 10 team and national title contenders and should still finish with another dominant 30 + win season.

      Coaching Tree

Dartmouth- D. Felton 20-10 (5th year) (11-3 2nd place Ivy League), no postseason

Princeton- D. Rhode 23-8 (3rd year) (12-2 Ivy Champions), got 9 seed lost to 8 seed Ole Miss 82-66 in the 1st round.

Binghamton- K. Lidzius (1st year) 17-14 (8-8 4th America East) won A-East tourney title, got 16 seed lost to 1 seed Oregon 82-56 in the 1st round.

It was an eventful year in the Ivy League and teacher (Felton) and student (Rhode) went into the final game of the Ivy League season tied 11-2 (with Dartmouth holding the tiebreaker taking both games versus Princeton) but Dartmouth lost to Brown by 1 (finishing a surprising Brown sweep of Dartmouth) and Princeton beat Cornell giving the Tigers their first Ivy League title in a decade and capping an amazing turnaround (last place to first place in 3 seasons). Lidzius also pulled off a huge turnaround at Binghamton taking them from 8 wins and the America East cellar to the tourney in just one season even more impressive is they did it by taking down conference standard bearer Vermont (won 6 out of last 7 reg season titles) in the title game.

      The Nevada program’s current streaks:

Regular season wins: 48 in a row, started 1/5/2013
Conference wins: 37 in a row, started 1/5/2013
Home wins: 96 in a row, started 1/27/09
Road wins: 15 in a row, started 1/5/2013

Very nice recap Jenkins. Did you alter the non conference schedule? Just wondering if your 21 RPI was from a weak WAC or from easy non conference. Either way 40-0 is crazy impressive. What skill level and half length do you use? I've never gone through and done a hoopcast sim but your entire update has me kinda fired up to try one.

Kudos on the #1 recruit class, too. I swear I've played this game since the first month it came out and have never gotten the #1 class lol.

Any pointers on how to do a hoopcast sim?

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Yeah I played a very weak non-conf schedule with only 2 games versus ranked teams (#2 Georgetown and #8 Vanderbilt) and they came as a result of playing in a non-conf tourney which I scheduled to get my game count up. My WAC schedule was weak as well with only 1 team other than myself finishing in the RPI Top 50. My skill level is MOP and my half length is 20 minutes.

I thought I lost the #1 RC when 2 of my original 7 targets (#4, #19) signed with Oregon, Duke was lurking but I out-dueled them for the #17 player in the country and that pretty much locked up the top class for me. I also added the #36 and #41 players to fill out the class.

          2 key tips for Hoopcast

-Put the simulator speed on 0

-Closely tailor shot tendencies because you don't have the same level of control as you do when playing. For instance I set all my players to shoot nothing but close shots and drive to the basket.

My success mainly comes from weak scheduling as I mentioned, recruiting 4 and 5 star players that can handle the ball well (mostly point guards), working on nothing but close shooting and awareness in practice, playing fast on offense (100 tempo) and fast breaking often and not using any defensive pressure on defense (unless my opponent is shooting lights out) so I don't rack up fouls and so my opponents are more inclined to shoot jumpers rather than take the ball inside and most importantly shooting nothing but close shots so I get my opponents in foul trouble making their starters play much less than usual and taking advantage of my superior depth. Pretty much the only way I can be beat is if my opponent just shoots lights out from downtown and they don't commit a lot of fouls.

The great thing about Hoopcast is that you can through games in a timely fashion (10-15 minutes) while having complete control over your rotation. Regular simming and playing the games doesn't afford you those luxuries

Brought in the #9 overall in the nation and #2 SG Colin Freije from Texas. More on him later. Also was able to get the Indiana Mr. Basketball Linden Wong. Along w/ plenty of guys who redshirted last year and are Freshman now. Quite a deep squad. But young as well, only returning 2 starters.

Now, to start the season, opted to play the 2K College Classic. Played in the Oklahoma Region, so my 1st game was Alcorn St. Bit of a struggle at first b/c of the youth, but pulled away at the end to set up a game w/ #20 Texas to see who would advance to MSG. Texas jumped on us early and led 41-32 at the half. Things were not looking good. They kept it up and led 62-51 in the 2nd half. We didn't go away and an 11-0 run helped us tie it at 62. UT pulled back ahead by 4 late but a 3 by Freije cut it to 1. We got a steal on the other end and lay it up on the fast break to take the lead. Texas in desperation mode...and they can't hit a shot. They foul and we hit our free throws to win 83-79 and advance to NYC.

In the SF we played 4-0 Rhode Island. It was a tight game all the way through, but we pulled away in the end to win 77-70 and set up a matchup w/ #7 Marquette for the title. Marquette was strong. Press all day, fast tempo. But we held tough halfway through the 2nd half when my star 7'1 C Clinton Arline got injured - strained achilles --out 3 weeks. Arline had 17 and 9 rebs before he got hurt, so it was a big blow. After that we couldn't stay in it, and the press forced turnovers, which led to our downfall. Marquette won 84-71. Return home w/o Arline and beat Steven F. Austin 64-39.

Now with Arline out we have to go down to Baylor to play. We came out strong and hung with them to go up at halftime 36-28. My star JR Ron Ebong was carrying us. In the 2nd half Baylor kept coming, but I hung tough. Eventually we get down inside a minute. We're up 72-68. Baylor PG pulls up for 3 barely past half court - and makes it. They foul, we make both free throws, Baylor calls time at half court. 31 seconds left Baylor down 74-71. Right off the inbound Baylor guy comes off a screen wide open 3 - BANG! Tie game 74-74. I bring it up and let time run down before calling a play. I go for the Pick and Roll w/ Ebong but the Baylor 2-3 covers it up. Ebong kicks out to Freije for the 3 and the win...clank...clank....IT'S GOOD!!!!!! UNT wins 77-74.

So that's how our season starts. 5-1 w/ wins over Texas and Baylor. Now we go to East Carolina, who beat Duke in a conference tourney earlier. Another tough game it looks like.
Just picked up and started playing this again after taking a few months off for 2k10/Fifa/etc.

In the thick of my conference schedule right now at UNT. 20-4, 10-1 in conference tied for 1st w/ Lousiana Lafayette and Western Kentucky. Lost earlier in the season on the road to WKU, but haven't lost a game since. Was able to go on the road though and beat Louisiana Lafayette after that, and am now on a 7 game win streak.

It's been a struggle though. A few close games in conference against teams we should be handling easily. It seems like we always jump out early on teams, then let them crawl back into by halftime and late in the 2nd half. Seasoning for the tourney, I hope.

Just finished the regular season and conference tourney. Finished the season on a 13 game win streak; won Sun Belt Tourney over UL Lafayette 78-63. Now I'm a 3 seed in the NCAA's, taking on #14 Eastern Kentucky in the 1st round West Regional.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I finally won my 1st National Championship. It was quite a run.

                R1: Took out #14 Eastern Kentucky 70-50

R2: vs #6 St. Joes. Was down 43-40 at halftime. Then started the 2nd Half on a 25-0 Run, and outscored St Joes 46-19 in the 2nd Half to win 86-62.

Sweet 16: vs #2 Duke. Jumped out to 39-25 lead at halftime. Held off Duke to win 72-64 and advance to Elite 8.

Elite 8: #1 Alabama. Jumped out to 25-4 lead to start the game. Bama came back to make it 39-28 at halftime, and came within 6 at one point in the 2nd half. But we pulled away late to seal it 78-55 and earn my first Final Four appearance.

Nat'l SF: vs #4 Vandy. Vandy jumped on us early 8-0, but we held tight and were able to take the lead into halftime 39-36. After that we stepped it up defensively holding Vandy to 21 2nd half pts to win 67-57.

Nat'l Championship Game: vs #3 Kentucky. Got their star C Radakovic into early foul trouble, which helped us alot. Led at half 33-29. 2nd half was back and forth all throughout. Trading the lead multiple times. Big shot after big shot. Finally we had a key sequence where our star PF Wong got a steal and an and 1 to put us up 6 late. Finally outlasted the UK onslaught in the 2nd half to win it 81-75 and clinch the first National Title in North Texas History.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I have a fresh legacy going as Mercer. After my 2nd year I was lucky and picked up Latavious Williams, a big time transfer from Memphis. I looked him up online and found out apparently he's already in the NBDL so I'll have to take him off my roster file after this legacy is over. He's an 88 overall for me, and in his 1st season after the mandatory redshirt year we won 27 games but lost in the conference tourney final and had to settle for the NIT.

I made a mistake and forgot to give pep talks during the season, I simmed the entire regular season and played the first 2 conference tourney games before I made another mistake in assuming my team would win the tourney final rated 15 points higher than Lipscomb.

I had zero scholarships and set 5 high school juniors on my target list to sim and see how high my recruiters would build their interest without my help. Since I forgot to give pep talks to my sophomore backups who were starters as freshman, 4 players left my team. Having not scouted or recruited ANY senior this should be an interesting offseason as I scramble for last minute recruits.

Latavious Williams ended up returning for his senior year so we'll be loaded once again as far as the starting lineup is concerned. My bench depth will be pretty dependent on whichever freshmen I'm able to pick up this offseason, which means I might be REALLY thin on depth next year.

Started a legacy as Charleston Southern. Chose them because I wanted a team with a good young PG. Only problem he's a 5'11 midget and has a weird shot release that I can't get down. Struggled in year one went like 13-15. Lost first round of conference tourney partially because he got injured.

Didn't manage to pull in any major recruits went into year 2 with no capable PFs or Cs. Went a little below .500 again and out in the first round of conference tourney.

Gonna restart with a new team and hopefully recruit better this time.

I guess I'll sum up where I've been in my legacies. I was at Wagner (NY) for three seasons before being offered to the job at UC-Irvine. I took both teams to the NCAA tournament and even led UC-Irvine to the Sweet 16 my last year there on the strength of my excellent center who was actually a rare 70s + rated freshman as a 2* recruit. Then I got called up to the big leagues when Boston College had a head coaching vacancy.

I could never quite get settled at BC and I was fired after 2 years after signing a 5* AA and 4* recruit in the early signing period. I went through the coaching carousel and landed at Kent State where I turned them around pretty fast (they had a good existing team but their coach left for a better job) and I'm now in season 5 at Southern Illinois where I was bounced from the NCAA Tourney in the 1st round after a close fight with NC State. I've really made my focus on recruiting guards that can shoot because I find far too often even the elite 5* AA guards are no better than a C+ at outside shooting. I've had some big recruiting misses on 3* and 4* players that were being underrecruited, mainly guards who were B to A in 3pt shooting but am hoping a breakthrough year next year with almost my entire team back will lead to a bigger job offer.

i signed a 3* power forward out of california, he was the #113 overall prospect, #8 power forward i believe... big sign for me, and i signed a 3* SG/SF out of france who's 6'6 combine that with the 3* PG/SG and i had a very good class, though i left three scholarships unsigned because of transfers away from my program.

so i've started year 3 right where i left off last season. lost my first game in a tournament to florida (who seems to be a national title contender). it was interesting they had a walk-on center on their squad and it was the same french center i was recruiting last season.

i'm finally starting to make some noise on the mid-major top 25 poll as i was at #14 to start this week and just beat 5-1 #2 valparaiso...

recruiting this year is going very well i have 2 seniors and the 3 scholarships that i did not fill from last year... i already lost a 3* SG who was my top priority as my scouts had him as the best shooter and with the most potential as anyone else i was lookign at. but as of right now i look to be getting a 4* point guard from puerto rico, i think 2 4* shooting guards, one from washington, the other from utah. a 3* small forward from queens who looks to be the shooter of the bunch and a 3* center from cameroon (will hopefully be reunited with lucca mbaha moute his country mate and my small forward) he's 7' 270 so he'll bring some beef to my front court though he will probably be redshirted.

this point guard seems to be the real deal, its not often you find 4* world recruits so far he's a C+ at close, medium, and 3-point shooting and a C at free throws as well as a B at shot of the dribble... i really like the shot of dribble rating because i like my pointguards to work that pick n roll game and if he can shoot coming off of those screens that will be an added dimension to my offense

so far my only real weakness is i don't have a single 3-point shooter. my only3 point shooter graduated last season and the 2 guards i signed are very good at getting to the hoop and scoring but neither are a knock-down shooter

well i haven't updated in awhile, i am into year 4 now, so i'll give a quick recap of year 3 it was basically a carbon copy of year 2 with an easy run threw conference play and then a loss in the opening round of the NCAA's
actually i ended up simming the last part of my season so i could get my recruits in and damn i had a great recruiting class.

i had 5 scholly's and then i had 1 more open up with my last inherited PF transferring out. i ended up signing 3 4* players and 3 3* players. 1 of each were from the world.

best player i signed was 4* #12 SG and #59 overall Koko Jimenez. dude is an absolute beast he already had a 37 point game for me this year basically leading a 20 point comeback by himself against Dayton.

my other recruits were a 4* SG/SF who at this point doesn't have any real skill, but he has A- potential and is a 71 overall right now so i redshirted him.

also signed a 4* PG from puerto rico. he isn't as good as most of the other guys i signed but has B potential and a decent 3 pt rating. he's redshirted behind senior corey wright (my last original player) and sophomore Jarret Butler

as far as 3*s i grabbed a 7' 280 guy from cameroon and redshirted him because he won't be playing behind my 2 now junior centers.

signed a 3* SF with not a lot of potential but he came in as a 75 overall and the more important rating is his 82 3 pt rating.

also signed a 3* point guard from alaska who will be a backup his whole career, but has an 86 defense rating and a decent 3 pt rating.

i redshirted 4 of the 6 with the only two players getting PT are Koko Jimenez and SF Dee Coleman. i would have liked to have redshirted Dee as well because he's takin PT away from now sophomore Marion Ross who played well for me last season but i NEEDED 3 point ability and i got it with Jimenez and Coleman.

                              so my starting 5:

Corey Wright, 5'10 PG, SR, great defender, smart player, team leader. quick as lightning scores points in transition, floor general

Koko Jimenez, 6'5 SG, FR, pure scorer, quicker than everyone who guards him, can shoot the 3, clutch scorer

Lucca Mbaha Moute, 6'11 SF, JR, not in the role of team scorer anymore with other guys i've brought in, point forward, good rebounder, good defender, great shot blocker for a SF with his height and wingspan

Myron Graves, 6'8 PF, SO, best post scorer, can shoot midrange and open 3, good in transition

Roland Jordan, 7' C, JR, best rebounder, range is limited to under the basket, athletic for his size and a good dunker, serviceable shot blocker and post defender

                              Bench:
                              (in no order)

Dee Coleman, 6'6 SG/SF, FR, energy scorer, 3 point specialist, weak defender

Marion Ross, 6'6 SG/SF, SO, lockdown defender, decent mid-range shot, ability to make athletic plays at the rim

Jarret Butler, 6'2 PG, SO, quick for his size, good ability to finish at the rim, decent 3 point shooter, very good backup floor general.

Demetrice Cripe, 6'9 C, JR, lots of meat inside, good low post scorer, impossible to push against him in the post, good rebounder, will always backup Jordan because of the height.

thats my 9 player rotation, i also play a 6'10 PF walk on soph who gives me good minutes whenever he's on the floor and even gave me a double double a couple games ago. i'm sittin at 7-1 on the season after a huge win just now against #22 Boston College. lost a heartbreaker in the first game of the season, lost by just 1 on a fadeaway 3 pointer with about 3 seconds left but i've been great since and am hoping with a win over ranked BC that i might make a hop into the top 25.

would you believe that with that recruiting class i didn't even get the coaching point for top 20 recruit class???? ridiculous. anyways i just recruited a 6'10 power forward in the early signing period.. another 4* he's the #7 PF and #59 overall so i got another beast.... sadly i'm going to have to get outta this conference pretty soon i think cause its going to be so boring playing against NEC competition lol my team is a 78 overall right now

if i stay at Long Island for awhile i feel like Koko Jimenez will probably be my first NBA draftee but i don't know if i'm going to be staying that long, i think i'm looking for a MVC offer preferably SIU, Bradley, or Illinois State.

EDIT: sorry for the extremely long post guys, but it will be an entertaining read

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Question. I'm trying to complete the career legacy goal of beating all teams. I load up my schedule with teams I haven't beaten. After the season I go back and they still dont have "Won" by them. I'm using the same user name and not simming the games. Any one have any reason why they are not counting as winning in my legacy goals?
