Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

11-0 heading into conference play in year 3 of my Texas State legacy. My big wins were @ Iowa State and @ Texas Tech (trailed by 10 at half).

My team is an 80 overall and I'm still not in the top 25 mid-major poll.

Started a closed legacy with Stetson tonight. Sitting at 3-4 with wins over Georgia Southern, Florida and Florida State (all wins were Sim wins). Blowout losses against Bethune Cookman and UAB in the two games I actually played.

Trying to recreate those insane Loyola Marymount teams. Don't work as well when you can shoot a 3 to save your life. Recruiting is looking good though, I have a chance at a good 3-star and a pair of 2 stars that can shoot.

8 of 12 teams in the ACC are top 16.

I'm already 2nd guessing myself. Played the midnight madness scrimmage, and boy, this team is weak. Going from my 93 OVR 91 CHEM North Texas team to 81 OVR in the ACC is going to be tough. We're going to get hammered. But I passed up on my dream job for this, I'm ready to step up to the challenge.
1st season at Wake is so far so good. 9-1 on the eve of the conference season opener at #4 Clemson. But we've played a weakish schedule, only 3 of the teams we've played are over .500 (@ IU, vs Coastal Carolina, vs Richmond) and we lost to Richmond at home 77-64.

This season really reminds me of my years at UC Riverside where I had to grind out wins with a not as talented team. Just came off a game against my 'alma mater' (hopefully soon to be real alma mater) ODU, @ODU where we were down 15 at the half and 18 with about 6 minutes to go but dug in, made plays to get it to OT and win in OT 84-74. Too bad ODU's only a 3-9 team.

I'm really not sure how this conference schedule is going to go. I eluded to in my previous post, the depth of the ACC. As of now in the rankings its #1 Duke,#2 Maryland, #3 UNC, #4 Clemson who I play next, #7 Miami, #9 NC State, #14 FSU, #17 BC, & #24 Georgia Tech. So now 9 of the 12 teams in the ACC are Top 25. None of them being Wake. So my work's cut out for me.

Made the NCAA tourney as a #2 seed with Siena. Clark called me a "paper dragon" and went on to say he can't see us go too far. If I can bring home the school's first Final Four visit, I can sleep good on that. With the #3 recruit coming next year, i'm ready to see what role he will play in my style of play.

P.S. playing Louisville in a tourney for the second time this season. Won by 10 last time. Wish me luck.

Jumped off to a early lead:
23-9 with 8:08 in the first. Their star player Jamareo Carbaugh is a three point marksman is 1-4 for the game.

Boris Zamore my SR SG has been with me from the day I got there. he was never a good shooter or hand handles so he never really fit my style of play. He was more of a defensive SG. He has always rated 75ish (which was just below my starting SG) but most of that was defensive skills. Now a SR he has some type of scoring abilites and has always been a good defender he has stepped up in the tourney.

Finished year 1 with Mount St. Marys (14-17) I didn't qualify for my conference tournament and it was frustrating because we finished the season on a 10 game losing streak, we dropped from 1st place to 10th!

I am in Year 2 and currently (17-14) just upset the #1 seed Sacred Heart in the opening round of the NEC we trailed 29-20 at the half before going on a 15-2 run with 5 3 pointers. The game finished 58-53 and I am hoping to win the tournament to get my first NCAA berth!

just reminded at how frustrating this game can be. Just lost to KSU in the 2nd round of the tournament because they shot 70% from the field. I'm pretty sure they could've beat me shooting from half court because it sure didn't matter what i did on defense.

I hate games like that. You can adjust defensive pressure, individual pressure, change up which guy you guard, or switch between man to man / 2-3 zone / 1-3-1 etc... and nothing works.

I almost always run man but typically in games like that if i throw in a little zone they'll have a few bad possessions but it just didn't happened. Any time i went zone they'd drill a 3. I love that it is competitive but 70% is excessive.

Yeah that is frustrating, especially when it's guys rated C in 3pt and who don't normally shoot 3s when you look at their stats. The only thing you can hope to do is play off ball and anticipate when they pull for the 3, but even that doesn't work.

I'm currently in my 5th season at Long Island (just my legacy for the week while I'm home from college, figuring out strategy for recruiting and stuff for when I take this back to Syracuse). I've won the conference the past 2 years (17-1 in conference play last year) but failed to reach the tournament each time because of my soft schedule, so this year, I scheduled games against Michigan, UConn, Rutgers, and St. John's. I was able to beat Michigan, Rutgers and St. John's (my LIU team is an 86 overall). So hopefully after I run through my conference this year, even if I lose in the conference tournament, I'll have a good enough schedule to get an At-Large bid, but we'll see.

Through the first 2 weeks of the ACC schedule at Wake. In the home opener faced #13 NC State, and we shut them down defensively. I usually play 2-3 Zone, but I knew that wasn't going to cut it due to the shooters every good team seems to have, so played a bit more man and it worked beautifully. We controlled the tempo and were able to pull the upset 58-46.

Next up we had to go on the road @Maryland and @UNC. Against Maryland we started slow but held the composure to take a 4 point lead into halftime. The lead grew to 8 when we went up 48-40 on an and 1. But MD would come back to make it close at the end. It turned into a FT contest, and for some reason my team sucks at free throws. Missed the front end of a 1 and 1, but got the O reb to go up 3 with less than 20 sec left. Then I decided to foul rather than let them make a 3 and tie it, and they made both of their FTs. So I was at the line again, and missed the front end of a 1 and 1 to give them 1 last shot. They brought it up with 6 sec, had a seemingly open shot, but somehow I got enough pressure to force the miss as time expired. WAKE 64, #4 MD 63.

Next up was UNC, the team I turned down to come to Wake. They had beaten Duke earlier this week, so a win would mean the #1 ranking. Went up 5 at halftime, but they went on a 7-0 run to take the early 2nd half lead. But we stuck with it. My freshman big man Raius Matela was a beast on the boards. 10 second chance points was the difference, and kept us in the game. But UNC was just too deep, too much talent, and pulled away late to win 82-70 and claim the top spot.

So now I reside at 15-3, 2-2 in the ACC w/ games vs #15 FSU and @ Va Tech next week. Not too bad for a team that only won 6 games last year, and went 2-14 in conference.

And the ACC is still a juggernaut. 6 of the top 7 in the media poll are from the ACC, and Ga Tech and FSU are also ranked in the top 20.
