Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

A 26-10 record in Year 5 earned Howard the regular season title and MEAC automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Howard was named a 13 seed in the West Regional, and their first round opponent....Gonzaga (overall 89 and Coach Few is still there). Gonzaga finished 25-7, 13-1, #12 in the polls,

I earned career win #100 in the MEAC Conference Semifinals vs South Carolina State. Also, Howard broke into the Mid Major Polls, claiming the #21 spot.

WE BEAT GONZAGA! I could've sworn that the game was theirs but Howard shot 57% from the field, 7-7 from 3, and won 82-71. Howard advances to the 2nd round to play #5 Oregon, who beat #12 Holy Cross.

WE BEAT OREGON! Outscored them 41-30 in the second half to run away with a 88-71 victory! Moving on the Sweet 16 to play the West Regional's top seed Texas, who scored 125 points in their first round win over High Point.

Texas rolled over us in the Sweet 16, winning 103-69.

Texas would go on to make the Final 4, along with #3 Michigan State, #3 Kansas, and #4 Ohio State. Texas would lose to Ohio State in the NCAA Championship Game.

The NIT Final Four consisted of #3 Memphis, #1 LSU, #5 Washington, and #5 Villanova. Villanova beat LSU in the NIT Championship.

I was finally named Conference Coach of the Year. But not a single Howard player was named to any all-conference team.

I decided to leave Howard, and after declining positions at East Carolina and Valparaiso, I accepted a 3-year deal with UNC Wilmington in the CAA.

I'm currently 11-1 as Arkansas Pine-Bluff. How? Unity. 3 Seasons ago I had a team of 4 Fr starters (All 68-74 overall) and a Jr... I believe I went 30-8, making it to the round of 32. The next yeear, I made it to the Sweet 16. This year, I'm starting 5 Jrs, so my chemistry is amazing. I've topped 3 AP Top 25 Teams. Hopefully I can make it far in the tourney.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I just finished up my first season with Iowa in an open legacy (but they are so bad it's almost a closed legacy ), using 500 Bloc's sliders.

Anyway I scheduled their real 2010-2011 non-conf schedule, which was fairly easy, and was hoping to go about 8-4 or even 9-3 but we stumbled to 6-6 after having our starting point go down for the last 4 games.

After dropping the conference opener to Indiana our PG came back and we got lucky with back-to-back wins @ Wisconsin and @ Ohio State. Wisconsin had Taylor and Leuer both in foul trouble early and shot just 31%, then OSU has Sullinger out with an injury and somehow we lit it up from 3 enough to win on the final possession. We faultered quite a bit the rest of the way but managed to get hot down the stretch to finish 8-10 and 14-16 overall, which is above what I was expecting.

I don't know how but everything came together in the Big 10 Tournament and we went on a tear. Opening round we had Purdue (who was sub .500 somehow, E'twaun Moore was hurt most of the year). We rallied from 12 down in the 2nd half to force OT. Then Moore and JuJuan Johnson fouled out and we won it in the 2nd OT. My PG put up a career high 36 and just took over in the OT's.

In the 2nd round we played #3 Wisconsin, and Bryce Cartwright (the PG) continued his hot play and was able to drive at will. He drew two fouls each on Leuer and Taylor and they ended up only playing 31 minutes between them. That, and Cartwright's play allowed us to win 72-56.

In the semi's we had Michigan, who swept us in the regular season with their 1-3-1. We played a lot of 3-2 (a rarity during the regular season) to try to stop the 3, and backup F Zach McCabe went 14 and 4 in 13 minutes off the bench in a 2nd half surge for the win.

In the Big 10 Championship we got #8 Ohio State. The unbelievable run continued and we shot a season high 56% from the floor, including 7/11 from 3. We doubled Sullinger all night in the paint and walked out with a 5 point win and a birth in the NCAA's.

As a #12 seed we drew 5 seed Kansas State, and Pullen and company promptly put an end to the magical run and blew us out of the water, putting up 107 (yes 107).

Finished the year 18-17 overall with the Big 10 Tournament Championship. Only lose one player to graduation and managed to bring in a 75 ovr C, a 72 ovr PG and a 72 ovr C that I will likely move to PF. I never expected to make the NCAA's this year but I think we can get back next year.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Just started our 6th season in our online career legacy. I am still at Chattanooga while he is in his 2nd year at James Madison. I am 3-0 and he is like 4-1. I gave myself the easiest non-conference schedule of the entire legacy while he gave himself his hardest. My team doesn't like to start games off well, but I always outscore the opponent in the 2nd half like crazy.

So far I have either gone into half only up around 5 at the most or tied, but have won by 20+ points. I am better than all these teams easily though.

This past season I didn't get that many recruits that were that great, but I did grab my first Juco players and I love the,. I have one guy who has came in as a Junior and sits the bench, but gets even time with my starter. Name is J. Muhammad and leads the NCAA in scoring off the bench! Guy is absolutely crazy. Shooting over 50% from 3 with over 25 attempts so far. My starting PG also hits the three just as well. They're the only two who score, though, so I can't start both at PG and SG or my bench would never score.

My best 3 players OVR-wise are my C, PF, and backup C, but they haven't gotten into a groove yet, so its up to the two PGs to carry the team so far. My sophomore SF and freshman SG have woken up a bit and are starting to drain the mid range jumpers with ease and I love it.

Last season was a crazy year with me being the best team OVR wise in my conference, and this year my team feels even better. Hopefully I can keep up the dominance and finish with less than 5 losses for the first time. My past three seasons have all be 23-25 wins and 8 losses exactly. Thats what happens when you are constantly in the top 3 of your conference though, ratings wise.

I want to leave this school, but I also want to stay and really turn them into a strong program, like consistent high 70's-low 80's overall. Right now I have gotten them to constantly be low 70's, but the first two-three years they were in the 60's.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

This game makes me so mad sometimes. I've lost 2 of my last 3 to Lehigh and Nebraska. The Lehigh games was dumb because I shot under 30% while getting destroyed 20+ in the rebounds. Tell me how a team that is low 60's overall can destroy my team in rebounding when my best 3 players on the team are my starting C, PF, and backup C. And the rebounding rating is the best rating on my team at a 79 or 80.

Then the Nebraska game should have been mine easily. I am up 60-65 with 50 seconds left and they come back and win 69-65. How? I got called for foul after foul while my players were getting tackled on the other end of the court. Such BS. Easiest schedule I have had all legacy long and I am 5-2 so far. Turning into a bad year so far.

After that Cinderella Sweet 16 run, my team can not make it back to the NCAA's.

We just lost our 2nd straight SWAC Championship game...

I jumped from Arkansas Pine Bluff to San Diego State, since Coach Fisher retired. He really built up that team weel, however. They are 2nd best in the MWC at a 86 Overall... I've made back to back final Fours with them, and they currently are a 89 Overall with 70 Unity...

Just finished up the 2013-2014 season of my Guy West Closed Legacy (see sig) and I don't want to spoil it. However, I'll just say this: it is really satisfying playing a close, tight game where you have the final shot. Even if the play got botched, and my first two options didn't have a shot, at least I got the shot off.

That was a heart wrenching moment. Especially when I realized I only had 12 seconds of regulation left, not 20.

I'm saving my posts for later in the other thread, but I'm very happy with the season. If you want to know how I did, just PM me and I'll let you know.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

So I started a sim-only career legacy. Originally I wanted to have a team that played a slow pace and shut down teams on defense, but that changed.

I started out with the Liberty Flames, and I struggled the first year, going 11-19 and losing in the first round of the Big South tourney. My second year, I made the NCAAs after winning the Big South tourney. I got annihilated in the first round. To my surprise, Stony Brook offered me the job and I took it.

I was at Stony Brook for three years, and I made the tourney all three years. I made it to the second round in my first year, the Sweet 16 in my second, and the Elite Eight after a 34-3 season and going undefeated in the AEC. At that point, the Wichita State opened after Tommy Amaker left to go somewhere or other. I jumped on that job in a heartbeat.

I have to admit, Wichita State is not a hard job to win at. The MVC is an easy conference to win in, and Amaker left me with a team that was rated a 93 in my first year there. I won Natty's in 3 of my 5 years there. I had 30+ wins in every season I was there. I also perfected recruiting, and my first recruiting class all ended up being over 80 overall at the end of their careers. After my fifth season at WSU, the Louisville job opened. I took that and I have yet to start the season.

Pretty much I have been dominant, with a total record of 291-62. Stony Brook is still an AEC power, as they won the AEC four straight times after I left. Liberty has also made the NCAA tourney in each of the past three seasons but I doubt that was really because of any influence I had.

People mistake landing a few good players and winning at schools less then national powers as they have perfected recruiting. I'm 20 years in with 4 NC's at 3 different schools and over 500 wins, but I know I have not perfected recruiting. While you can land some good players and have success I can't say that is becoming a black belt in recruiting.

The biggest headache has been recruiting. I lost three 5* guys that I thought I had only to have HAL pass me even though we're both at 100%. I've still yet to sign a 5* in season...very frustrating to say the least.
Since this post I've played through 2 more seasons. I ended up winning the NC at UConn for the 3rd straight year in the first. We struggled through the season but after we switched to a 1-3-1 zone we actually learned how to play defense and made a great run through the tourney. We even managed to beat Syracuse in the Final 4 after they killed us twice during the season and in the Big East Tourney.

In the 2nd season we didn't make it to the tourney for the 1st time in my coaching career. We just couldn't beat any of the Big East squads that have been killing us in recruiting for 4 straight seasons. We did make it to the NIT though, and played a relatively easy schedule and won that.

I guess the best news though was from reading this forum I finally picked up some good tips for recruiting and signed 5 guys...2 of them 5*, 3 of them 4*. I converted a PG to SG, and a SG to SF so I now have a completely freshman 2nd squad which comes off the bench. I'm sitting at 9-1 right now after breezing though an easy early season. I did lose to UNC at UNC when they hit 15 3's and I couldn't get a call to go my way in the 2nd half. On to conference play now.

I have continued to stick it out with the 1-3-1 and my center is leading the nation in blocked shots. He was a 3*world player I recruited from Africa who grew to 7'2 and almost a 90 block rating. I edited his hair to 'large afro' so it's hilarious to see him against some of 6'8 centers smaller schools put out. He is pretty agile around the rim too so he get's a ton of dunks. Despite his size he doesn't pull in the boards very well though and is in constant foul trouble because of opposing players getting offensive rebounds inside of him.

Great game. Great depth. What a shame the franchise died.
