I'm assuming I can't get file share without the gold account for names or whatever? I'm honestly a noob when it comes to that stuff now.. like I said I haven't played a game in so long I don't even know how live really works anymore.
I can verify what cubsfan said, you do only need Silver to use 2Kshare. When you go to it, a box will come up that says your account can't use multiplayer features, but you just hit okay and then you can download files. I just got this game a few days ago, and I was glad I didn't need Gold to get rosters.

How different is this game from the NBA game? I have owned all of he NBA series but never got into college hoops.

2k9 kinda disappointed me this year and after reading your impressions I'm going out to pick it up tomorrow.

What should i expect? Controls similar? gameplay similar?

Also what is the difference between closed nad open Legacy's?

        Thanks fellas, i'm sold.

Don't worry man. It won't be long until you'll forget about all that money you shelled out for this game. I'm sure you'll get your $12 worth.

The biggest improvemennt over nba for me is the much more immersive legacy mode. Recruiting and seeing your guys develop is just so much fun. It's also great to take small programs to glory. Closed legacy = start at small school, open legacy = start at any team

In the middle of a Siena Dynasty, Im in my fourth year. Ive yet to have a breakout season, and finally in my fourth year go 22-7 only to be rewarded with a 13-4 match-up with Duke. This was my first conference tourney championship as you may have guessed, so I sort of feel like I deserved a higher seed. Also I have a 33-0 Kansas as the 1 in my bracket. WOW. Love this game, great recruiting, great depth overall in the legacy. Im assuming this wont be my last year at Siena unless I make a deep run in the tourney (which seems highly unlikely with the opponents I would face barring any upsets).

Hey Doc, do yourself a favor and get this game quick, lol. The controls are pretty similar to the NBA 2k series, so you should be able to pick this up right away without any problems. I haven't played an NBA game since 2k7, so I'm thinking the only things that may be different is the R-stick for low-post moves.

Gameplay is similar in that they're both 2k games, but CH 2k8 certainly has a distinct feel from the NBA games. Captures the college game very well, imo.

Legacy mode is addicting; closed is where you start at a small school and work your way up through the ranks. Open is you start at whatever school you want. Recruiting is fun.

For sure Doc. It's an excellent game that will control your Xbox. There are just so many things to do, the replay value is amazing. Deepest sports game I've played.

It will be the best 12 bucks you ever spent. I read the this thread last year at this time and forked out 19.95

Re: This game owns my soul.

Ummm the controls really aren't like the current nba games, especially NBA 2K9.

                        1. The controls on here aren't as fluid when doing isomotion moves.

                        2. Once again if you played NBA 2k9, don't expect to see all the iso moves you use to do, because they aren't on CH2k8.

                        3. CPU rarely throws alley oops on here and for you to throw one is damn near impossible to do, especially in a half court set.

                        4. Legacy mode is intense, mainly because you know you get more attached to college kids working they way up to becoming stars.

                        5. Coach mode is addictive.

                        6. Maxium passing.....I doubt you will use it and probably, like 98% of people do switch that button over to be dual player control instead.

                        7. The only downside is that bigs don't play like bigs. You know Centers and Power forwards will shoot 3 foot jumpers and hook shots instead of just dunking the ball. If you manually edit every big in the game, change their standing dunk and dunking to 99 they will play like bigs.

However with these damn schools on here, that will take almost 2 hours to do.

So after upsetting the number 4 team in the nation, I adjust the inside scoring and mid range game of the computer. (i didnt change mine at all)

I proceed to shoot 3/24 from 3pt range and lose to the last place team in the conference.

Started conference play losing 3 straight all by less than 5, then go to #17 New Mexico (19-1) and knock them off 78-76 in OT.

Why not do both? I am running two open lecacies, one as a standard open with Duke that I play along with the "other" college hoops season. Both of us are up to our Final Four, with some sweet NIT action to fill the weekday space.

But I am also running an open career legacy (went with open cuz you can't edit players in the closed one) with Winston-Salem State, that I plan to run over multiple seasons. The former legacy is for "historical" purposes, as I keep track of all the polls, conference standings, conference tourneys, the NIT and the NCAA tourney in an Excel file. The latter is for the challenge of working with next to nothing and trying to climb the ladder to better and better positions. With the former, I pay close attention to the top schools and watch College Hoops every week. With the latter, I don't really care what Kansas and UConn are up to. I have enough worries in my piddly little Mid-Eastern Conference.

It's quite a trick keeping them separated sometimes. I complained about my 70s rated center who couldn't jump (Brian Zoubek), but I would kill to have a 70s player on my WSS Rams! In recruiting, I now concentrate on the two- and three-star players that with Duke I leave alone and let them join the Blue Devils as walk-ons.
