Re: This game owns my soul.
I started a new closed legacy with Western Illinois. Stayed there for 6 sub-par seasons (1 NCAA birth and a NIT birth) then I went to Southern Illinois. I stayed around there for 9 seasons and I had built them up (sad to see them fall back down though) but I couldn't make it past the first weekend. Then I got to Michigan St. and now 10 years later, I just won my second straight NC after 8 years of hard work. The thing that made me be like "that's cold" is after I finished the second NC game, the players from The U fell to the ground in disappointment, which I thought was a nice touch. This game is really like crackLions, Tigers, Pistons, Michigan

Re: This game owns my soul.
This game is so timeless. I've spent about ten hours with this game in the last two weeks and it seems like it's getting better with age. Back at work on my classic roster stuff, hopefully I can bust a buncha stuff out in the next month."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

After playing nba2k9 for so long, and then playing this. You really do notice how awful some animations are but I dont think ill stop playing this for a long time.

That is true that the animations are lacking a bit but it's also nice to go back to a 2K game where you can actually play defense."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: This game owns my soul.
Ummm the controls really aren't like the current nba games, especially NBA 2K9.
1. The controls on here aren't as fluid when doing isomotion moves.
2. Once again if you played NBA 2k9, don't expect to see all the iso moves you use to do, because they aren't on CH2k8.
3. CPU rarely throws alley oops on here and for you to throw one is damn near impossible to do, especially in a half court set.
4. Legacy mode is intense, mainly because you know you get more attached to college kids working they way up to becoming stars.
5. Coach mode is addictive.
6. Maxium passing.....I doubt you will use it and probably, like 98% of people do switch that button over to be dual player control instead.
7. The only downside is that bigs don't play like bigs. You know Centers and Power forwards will shoot 3 foot jumpers and hook shots instead of just dunking the ball. If you manually edit every big in the game, change their standing dunk and dunking to 99 they will play like bigs.
However with these damn schools on here, that will take almost 2 hours to do.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I'm in my 3rd season of my legacy, about to start the NCAA tourney... went 24-7 during the season (I believe 20 of my games were against teams 200+ in the RPI, so not exactly stiff competition) and won the Northeast regular season and conference tournament
ive now made my 2nd straight trip to the big dance, i'm a 12th seed, I could have pulled a better seed but lost 2 out of my last 3 games during the regular season (but got revenge in the conference tourney by beating both the teams that beat me just acouple weeks earlier)
so now because of that mini late season meltdown i'm stuck facing a very tough UCLA team who had a bit of a down year but are still extremely good... not the matchup I was looking for
so I dont have high hopes for the tourney... but the good news is that I've snagged three three star recruits, a PG and 2 SF's (both small forwards are ranked in the top 50 for their position), and i'm not losing anyone of value next year except my starting SF whos prolly my weakest starter... my first year I brought in a 3 star center who was the conference player of the year last year as a rookie (not likely to repeat though), and last year I grabbed two three star PF's who are actually 2 of my top 3 rated players on my team... they havent been studs this year in their rookie campaign, but they've been good enough (plus my team has enough scorers that they may not have great stats, but their presence is felt, especially on defense and on the boards)
so with the addition of 3 more 3 star recruits, next year could be our best chance to steal a few games come NCAA tourney time (i know, looking ahead a little bit too much lol)

This game owns my soul... again.
You know how with most games, once you stop playing for a few weeks or months, you never put the game back in your Xbox 360 ever again? It's the total opposite with me for College Hoops 2k8. I've had this game for a year and a half now, and I've had numerous different legacies. They've all been unique, and they've all been a blast. The funny thing is, I usually do a legacy and take a break for a few months when I get bored or bogged down with work (real life!). Inevitably, College Hoops 2k8 comes back with a vengeance. I start up a legacy and after one game, I'm back.

Re: This game owns my soul.
I too have a been assimilated. This game is incredible. I have an open legacy with the St. Johns Red Storm. I absolutely love playing the ABL games. I found a diamond in the rough. His name is Tron Benton, he is a 3 star shooting guard out of Queens, NY, 6'6", overall rating of 72. He plays exactly like Darrin Williams of the Utah Jazz. I played him against all of the All Americans, 5 and 4 star players, he held his own against them all. He had SJ as his third interested school. I recruited him heavy and got him. This Kid wins NCAA freshman of the year, Big East foy, NCAA freshman all american. He helped lead me to the NIT (prior to that I hadn't even made the big east tournament).
All of the original players that came with the team have graduated. He is now a sophomore on a team full of freshman and sophs (1 senior). I am currently 6-5 and trying to get to the big dance for the first time. This game is so addicting. 2k did a great job with it.Comment
