I can't remember a time when there was a decent fast break system in any 2K basketball game.

Re: This game owns my soul.
call it weird cpu logic, or some animations just not triggering "right" with the speed setting, but I had a few clear path fastbreak instances that I have never seen before. in one of my earlier posts here, like a week or so back, i posted a video about that.
i had to call that out immediately as I had never seen it before. its like a whole new game with this speed editComment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I tried the 75/5 deal, it was just a tad sluggish to me so I turned it up a little bit. Otherwise, I think it makes the game play quite a bit better than it did before. I have a very young team that has a few walk-ons, and the change in speed I think makes it a bit more realistic....I'm gonna need to fine-tune a few sliders but otherwise, this game has me hooked once again!Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I use a 70/70 speed setting. I tried 75/5, but it played too slow for my liking.
The high camera angle helps out of spacing difficulty, IMO. I love the high view.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
lol. I just played 2k8 for the first time in awhile last night, and I do really like the gameplay, but I just like Live's better. I like the AI of 2k better, but I want all of the tools to stop them that Live has.
But anyway, I wanted to talk about how merciless their offense AI is. It's hilarious. There is no time wasted. Some times you can see that it's programmed like 'dribble in a circle' 'do 3 spin moves in a row for no reason.' But then it's like 'back into kill mode.'
They are always backdoor cutting you and their overpowered catching animations really make it hard to stop. The only way I can stop them is to know what they are doing (which is semi-obvious) or to just overpower them with pressure and make them turn it over.
Seriously, though, what basketball genius programmed the AI of this game?

Re: This game owns my soul.
bad idea doing what I just tried.
84 GTown vs 01' Duke.
84 Gtown ratings wise is like a one man show with Ewing. I thought I could compete. but It was over before it even started. The CPU instantly recognized my desire to post up Ewing and had double and triple teams ready. The guys on the Gtown team, aside from two players, were rated terribly in threes so I could not kick out and get the job done there. I ended up losing by 32.
I didnt feel cheated as I was losing. It all came together as a team that was more powerful and potent did what it wanted to do offensively and defensively.. After made baskets on occasion, i set out to have a full court press. that actually proved quite effective as I forced 8 team turnovers. this game doesnt always yield TOs in this fashion so I was happy to see some mistakes by the CPU.
I will try to avenge that loss with a rematch tonight @ Duke.
I love this gameAttached FilesComment

Haha, I've definitely been down that road with '84 Georgetown. Pat is my favorite player of all-time so I used to try to roll with that squad but forget it, they are horrible outside of Ewing. Even Reggie Williams is practically useless. Same thing with the Alcindor UCLA teams, the CPU shuts down the big men so easily with double teams and you have no other options offensively."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
