When I get a recruit I have hope that he plays a a certain way, but no preconceived expectation of how he should perform. When I have a team full of "my" guys I feel much more immersed in the game.

When I play against default roster teams too often I think things like, "Danny Green isn't blocking enough shots or throwing up enough ill advised 3's."

"Fake" players create their Legacy in total.
this is why i feel i have always been way more immersed the college games and winning eleven. with college games 20 to 25% of the players are different even in your second year of franchise. it creates its own life. by the third year it is completely separate because there is no way all the original programmed frosh/soph are going to develop the same as the real life players.

with winning eleven and ncaa mvp 06 i hardly know anything about the real teams and so i am immediately immersed without the "real life" preconceptions of how the should play.

in a lot of the pro sports games, i sometimes sim a lot of the first season because i always enjoy the 2nd and 3rd seasons more.

Re: This game owns my soul.

        I finally did it!

I won the National Championship in Year 3 at Auburn.

        My Tourney went like this...

I was an 89 overall. I beat Kansas like a red headed step child in the 8/9 Matchup by 20, then proceeded to knock off #1 seed Cal in the second round, destroyed Providence in the Sweet Sixteen, and drilled Villanova in the Elite Eight. I faced #1 seed Arizona in the Final Four and it was a 2-4 point game the whole way until my Freshman Power Forward Jonathan Keller popped a big time 3 pointer to spur a 10-0 run by Auburn in the final minute to advance to the National Championship game to face Top seed Duke for all the marbles.

FYI...my first game of the season was at Duke and I got crushed 97-71. It was a totally different story in the title game as I beat them 102-72, shooting 50% for the game, and holding Duke to 4-31 from behind the 3pt arc.

Nic Andrew, my Freshman scoring machine (PG with 91 Free Throw and 89 Three point) won Freshman of the Year, SEC Freshman of the Year, First team Freshman All American and Freshman All SEC averaging 17 points a game.

I just landed the #14 recruiting class in the nation, got both Erkan Anderson (Top 10 SF in the nation out of JUCO) AND Shawan Joseph (Mr. BBall in Georgia) and just fired up game 1 of Season 4 against South Alabama.

I have a very young squad but talented...I'm an 85 overall with only 1 senior on the roster.

On a side note...North Carolina is a 90 with NINE Sophomores and 3 Freshman on the roster.

I just won the national championship also. It was my 5th year in my career legacy and I was with UConn. We were getting destroyed by texas at the beginning of the semifinal and came back. We were down by 10 in the first half of the championship against UNC and came back. We found ourselves, again, down by 10, but with 3 minutes left in the championship game and I was able to win by 4. I only had 1 senior starter, and my best starter was a Junior. I had 2 Juniors, a senior, a sophmore, and a freshman starting.
This game can really get exciting, I was pumping my fists and everyting.

I just lost to Washington in the Final Four with Gonzaga in Year 3 of my closed legacy mode. What a bummer...I just couldn't hit the shots when I needed to.

Ahhh well....taking the 'Zags to the Final Four was an accomplishment in and of itself. I can't be too disappointed. And UW did wind up winning the national title, so at least I can say I got beat by the best.

I lost in the 2nd round my 3rd year to the eventual champs, and in the final four the next year in my closed legacy. 5th year I won one, you'll win eventually.

I'll post when I win a single NCAA Tourney game with the Trojans!

I'm looking good right now but I have a feeling when I get into Pac-10 play I'm going to be overmatched. I've had a Pittsburgh-eque OOC schedule...not good! I'm beating up on all the small Cali schools

I'm shooting like 30% from three point range but my defense is very, very good.

In my legacy the Pac-10 only had 2 teams make the tourney last year, Oregon and UCLA and they were both 1 seeds. That year was 2011/2012.

Here's a suggestion for those who love the experience in the game. Do player lock. You feel like a college player, doing only so much as you can to carry the team. I did one with Jonny Flynn, lost in the sweet 16 to I forgot who in my first year.

You actually feel like the player, making the passes, getting energized, everything. It's so fun and real. Which brings me to a fantastic game I played that year...

Round 2 NCAAs, I'm overall #1 Syracuse against #8 Indiana. I'm leading for most of the first half, then Eric Gordon and Bassett explode and go up 20 on me midway through the second half. Then my guys catch fire, and I come back with three after three, and end up winning by like 6. Best part was I tried so hard to win, losing in the second round as a #1 seed was killing me so much I was so frustrated. Now I really know what it's like to be a #1 seed in real life and lose early on.

Also hit a couple game winners with Flynn, amazing experience.

Right now I'm runnin a Cal legacy, Ryan Anderson is a beast for me. 12-1 and #23 in the nation, beat Memphis as Anderson scored 46.

It's 3:02pm central standard time, April 25th, in the year of our Lord 2008...

And this game is still owning my soul.

I think I'm gonna hang up my Auburn legacy for a bit after Year 4 and start a closed legacy next.

It's so nice to have a sports game that even many many months after release, plays BEAUTIFULLY and has game developers that focus on GAMEPLAY and true ATMOSPHERE to make a game better.

And by no means am I taking a shot at any other particular sports gaming company in that last statement...none at all. [/sarcasm]

Re: This game owns my soul.

I just started a closed legacy with Western Illinois. It's a lot of fun. I'm 2-2 so far and just got blasted by my beloved Mizzou Tigers.

It's cool deciding on what style of play you want to run, figuring out what kind of players you want to recruit. When I was playing my Mizzou legacy, I felt compelled to run Mike Anderson's style of game to make it "realistic." Now I run a very methodical, defense-oriented game. I won my first game 49-45! Of course, that style didn't fair so well against Mizzou... I lost 93-67.

This game is so much fun. I'll definitely be playing this a few years down the road.

Re: This game owns my soul.

So I just fired up my first Career legacy with Charleston Southern and started off with perhaps the most gut wrenching choke job in my history of Hoops 2k.

I was playing Tulane at home and behind the awesome night by SG Chris Moore, who lit up the Green Wave with 31 points on the night, had built an 11 point lead with 3 minutes to go.

I still have a 7 point lead with 21 seconds to go...21 seconds. I inbound the ball, Tulane fouls me, Moore goes to the line.....

Misses the front end of the 1 and 1. Tulane races down court puts up a 3...hits it! I'm up 4 with 14 seconds to go. Tulane fouls again. Again...Moore misses the free throw, Tulane rebounds, drives down the court, hits an open man in the corner..THREE! I'm up 1 freaking point with 6.7 seconds left. Tulane fouls Moore again. He steps to the line for 2 shots. First shot....MISS!! Another GD miss!!! Second shot...good. I'm up 67-65. Tulane inbounds to their PG, I put pressure on the ball handler, he dribbles up to halfcourt where he finds a streaking Eric Vianney racing to the top of the key. He passes, Vianney stops, pops...and as the horn sounds...HITS the three pointer!

Tulane wins 68-67. I literally didn't make a sound. I just dropped the controller and threw my hands on the top of my head...stunned.

I looked like the guys on the bench in the NCAA tourney as they watch their opponent drain a game winning shot to knock them out of the tourney. That's probably the most accurate depiction of my facial expression.

I'm absolutely disgusted right now. Next up..as luck would have it...is my Auburn Tigers.
