Re: This game owns my soul.

This game is incredible. Every year it never fails to get me hooked since 2009. This time, I chose Cornell to begin my career. (Closed Career FTW). Recruiting is one of the most satisfying parts of any game I've ever played in my entire life. Getting that solid 3 star you've worked so hard for, then being able to play his collegiate career out in a really really good sim basketball game? Perfect.

To new CH players that would rather play NCAA 10 because it's newer, please don't be ran off. This game isn't as crisp, and the animations aren't as aesthetically pleasing as you might think at first glance, but once you get into it, I mean, really get into the bread and butter of the gameplay, MOP, CPU giving you everything they have (without you feeling cheated). It's truly a sight to behold.

You're gonna be hard pressed to find a better all-around product, honestly.

Man reading this thread has me jonesing to fire it up again. In my old St. John's/SMU dynasty I played out every game but now I don't have the time to do that. Perhaps I come up with a system is set if house rules to decide which games I actually play throughout the season to make it possible for me to get through multiple seasons.

when I did mine during school I had uconn and I would deselect every game on the schedule and reselect the 15 I wanted to play, either big games, rivalries I wanted, or just a team I wanted to play.. I would still play the conference tourney and ncaa tourney all the way through

If you have ever ventured to the Football Dynasty section, I run a n NCAA dynasty following PocketScout's house rules where the games are randomly selected and I can only play those as well as any championship, playoff or bowl games. Maybe if I develop something like that for this game that could work. If there were an editor for this game to edit the polls and recruiting classes this game would be borderline perfect.

The semester is ending, college basketball season is well underway. Even though I am enjoying Madden more than I ever have enjoyed a football game, and GTA V is out finally, I still am getting ready to let myself get sucked back into a legacy. The furthest I went was 10 years with a friend where we made it an online legacy by uploading it through 2kShare after every single game. We went 4-5 years numerous times, but 10 years was the longest for one lone legacy.

I never was a huge basketball fan until this game. It is so good that I now follow college basketball as much as I follow the NFL, NCAAFB, or the MLB.

Re: This game owns my soul.

I fired back up the legacy about a month ago. Started fresh using Purduefan's awesome Roster & Auburn Alumni's Sliders.

I decided to go with the North Dakota St. Bison. Year 1 - went 17-13 & lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. (Won Conference Tourney). Year 2 - went 13-17 w/no post-season. Year 3 - Had a Sr. Lead team. Every player was ranked 69 or below but had great Chemistry & Experience. That team took me all the way to the final four where I lost to eventual Champion Wisconsin. This year (My 4th) I ran thru the Summit Conference like a buzz saw! I'm currently 30-2 & in the Sweet 16. I'm the 7th seed (team rating 80) and I just upset #2 Arizona (Team rated 95!) It was an epic game. I slowed the tempo way down & My back-up 7'0 Project center had the game of his life! 14 Pts, 9 Rebs, & 5 blocks!

              Up next - #3 Michigan.

After all these years, I still love this game!!

Just repurchased and ready to fire up another dynasty

Talk about a game having stating power. Seven plus years in and in my opinion still the best sports game and deepest dybasty mode of any

I prefer college over pros and enjoy the recruiting aspect of how teams completely change over every few years with graduation. Never gets stale

I own a next generation console, the PS4. I own all the latest an greatest games for it, like NBA 2k15, FIFA 15, Madden 15 and even GTA V.

                  ....

And here I am, having playing a 7 year old game, College Hoops 2k8 for the past 6 hours.

Is this game worth $20? I'm a huge 2k player (on X1) but I definitely miss College Basketball games. The last one I played was 2k7 on PS2... I'm only interested if it's pretty easy to get the updated rosters.

If you're going to just play pickup games, then no. If you're going to dive deep into legacy mode, then definitely.

IMO, the gameplay has definitely aged and I wouldn't play this game just for some pickup basketball (then again, I pretty much never do that, no matter the game), but the legacy mode is what gives this game its longevity.

OK thanks. I definitely only want it to build a program, NBA2K is already good enough for pickups lol

I have an NBA 2k14 association going with specific rules just to give it a college vibe.

                          29 game season
                          1-1-1-1 playoff format
[house rule] Never sign a player beyond his rookie contract. Trade everyone for as many picks as possible, and just use those picks like an incoming draft class. Load up, let 'em ball out for 2-3 years, then trade 'em and reload.

I've always felt like they extremely strip players ratings imo. Also, potential never really properly crosses over, and players never do seem to put up good numbers during their careers.
