Re: This game owns my soul.

After buying an Xbone and trading in my 360 last summer I had been on a CH2K8 dry spell but my brother-in-law just gave me his old 360 and I fired up CH2K8 late last night when I couldn't sleep.

I don't know why I expected anything else but I couldn't shut the stupid game off. I kept wanting to play longer, kept telling myself "I'll go to bed after this last possession", etc. Played an entire 36 minute game with UConn at Providence. No rosters, no sliders, no nothing. The game is visually appalling at this point, there's crazy morphing/sliding and the playbooks stink but the game remains insanely fun somehow.

Re: This game owns my soul.

      Back in the saddle.

I played four games in my UConn legacy yesterday. I opened the season ranked #8. Second game was against Cornell, figured it'd be a cake walk.

I was rusty and they were clicking. You all know the drill - my offense was stagnant and my D was porous. I found myself down 50-34 with five minutes left. I was shooting 31% from the floor. Got a steal and a dunk, followed by a transition three - then Uncle Mo was on my side. I was on fire the rest of regulation and forced OT at 60-60 after Cornell missed a 3PA from the corner at the buzzer. The boys then took care of business in OT and I won 75-69.

Such a thriller, even against a crappy team. Nothing is a given in this game. 2K still hasn't matched the pace and flow of CH2K8 in any of their NBA games IMO. Maybe it's overpowered in this game but there is nothing like going on an 18-2 run to either blow things open or mount a wild comeback. The atmosphere is so well done and the game is so immersive.

Re: This game owns my soul.

I bought this game in 2009. Late to the party, I know. I was a sophomore in college. That's 7 years ago since I wasn't a math major.

I fired up a career legacy starting at little UC Riverside, before moving onto North Texas for about 2 years in real life and 5 years in game, to my home now Wake Forest where I've been for 17 seasons.

I've played every single game, all the way up to 2032 right now. I've won 4 National Championships, yet a tough road conference loss still guts me like I'm a first year head coach trying to prove myself. Even after playing 2K10-16 I still come back to this game bc nothing can match the intensity of a big rivalry game or even an early season matchup vs a ranked non conference opponent.

I started as the little nothing program, then worked my way winning a NC at a mid major, to now building a program like Wake into a national power, and still enjoy this game. It's safe to say that this game owns my soul.

Re: This game owns my soul.

I hit a full court shot the other day.

It wasn't even a buzzer beater either. I rebounded with my center and was going through my outlet options. 'X' was down the court, 'O' was down the court, so I spotted my small forward and hit 'damn I can't make a square with my keyboard' but the passing icons had disappeared already. So my center shot it from underneath my own basket. I switched to my PG down the court to try and get the rebound and I about **** myself when the shot goes in. This was an early round NCAA tournament game.

I've shot countless halfcourt/fullcourt shots in this game at the buzzer and I don't think I've ever made one prior. I'm seriously amazed. Went on to win the NCAA tournament.

I love that in a Career Legacy you get a feel for all levels of players. When you're playing with players in the high 60s and low 70s and you recruit someone that comes in mid to upper 70s it is a game changer. Then there is a big difference between that player and the players in the low 80s. Now I'm at Duke and I'm consistently getting players in their 80s. Players in the mid to upper 80s and even low 90s are special. Difference makers in games filled with difference makers.

2k we need another college basketball game, like yesterday. All these games on tv/cable makes me think of all the possibilities thatr could exist in a new game. still playing the college2k14 mod and college2k8.

Meh. I've played the newer NBA 2ks and I really don't enjoy them very much. The gameplay is so clunky compared to CH2k8 where I have a lot more freedom of movement with my players. The graphics could use a slight boost, and fix a few things (too many giants, new 3 point line, big men tendencies) but the gameplay in 2k8 for me is far more enjoyable than any of the new 2k games.

I had a dream like three nights ago that I was playing a new version of the game.

I was pissed when I woke up.

I remember I really loved this game when it came out. As a sports gamer it will always have a special place in my memories. I remember putting countless hours and days into this game. It was just an amazing game.

With that said I finally went back to it a few days ago and it just feels too outdated for me to ever go back and play this for a long time again. Maybe I'm spoiled by all the great NBA 2K games through the years but I just can't play this I did anymore.

While this game is not as good as it once was, I still really enjoy the career mode. Best in sports with NBA 2k17.

Put in 55 with a player tonight. Playing on 18 minute quarters. 55. Dude was on fire. My greatest single performance in all my time playing this game. This game is every bit as good as it once was.

I hear you man... As much as I crave an NCAA Basketball game with updated rosters, this game looks even worse than a PS2 game. One of the ugliest games I've ever seen put out for the PS3. The game play is still fine but I just can't get past the visuals man.

Seeing as I only have a Wii and Wii U at the moment, and am having a serious College Hoops itch that needs scratching, I think I'm going to start the hunt for CH2k3 on the Gamecube to use in the Wii. Yeah, it's 15 years old, but it still has a Closed Legacy mode...and that's all I need. I remember playing 2k3 back in the day, and while it maybe wasn't the peak of the series, it'll do in a pinch for me!

I'm thinking of getting a 2k7 legacy going on ps2, my ps3 doesn't read discs anymore and I have no idea how to obtain a digital 2k8 copy, probably not possible. I have 2k8 on ps2 but it doesn't like reading the disc for some reason, so that leaves me with 2k7 or MM '06 which was actually pretty fun

Yeah, I'm having no luck finding 2k3 on the Cube (and where I am, I'm not willing to pay the cost). Oh well...

2k7 Was excellent. Small step below 2k8 but still very good. I love the high school camps they have where you can play games like knockout, and 3 on 2 2 on 1.
