Re: This game owns my soul.

There's a guy over on the NCAA that has apparently discovered how to edit uniforms in NCAA 14. He's using the emulator and says it can be done on consoles, anyway, I'm going to wait until he releases the tutorial to see if it can be applied to college hoops. I've looked at choops files before, and they don't have file extensions, so idk if it'd be possible to decrypt them. But maybe it'll be possible one day.

Possibly the only thing right now would be using a cheat engine for any particular use.

back at it with CH2k8. its easy to get immersed with this title.
Im still running the same legacy from Day 1, and that was back in the spring of 08.
Though I dont play as consistently as I once did, butI still go through spurts.

CH2k does so many things right, which Ive mentioned in so many posts, but the one thing I might have failed to mention is,the control that the user feels when playing.
the responsiveness, decision making, do not feel pre-determined at all. there is a proper balance between stick skills, ratings and coaching decisions.

          Bring Back CH2k.
14 years later and it still amazes me with what the developers did with 2k8.

My legacy season and the real life NCAA lined up this year. Its amazing how the selection show in 2k8 is still nearly identical to the real thing.

Yeah, I'm still playing this game. Thank goodness I bought a backup copy years ago for $5.99 at Gamestop.

Nothing in any other sports game can compare to CH2k Legacy Mode.

back to playing another season of CH2k8.
I like the way the game tracks historical and user records. I just looked at my career stats and records, and I have user records that are more than 10 years old, such as most points scored in a game. The most Ive ever scored in a game was 32 with my 5-star recruit back in Feb 2011.

Things like that make me smile.

Still the best sports game ever made IMO. It will be an absolute shame if we do not see another installment of college basketball in a video game. Choops 2K8 is such a complete game and it is 15 years old. WILD

fired up AA's sliders and a roster here for Xbox360, and played my first game right after playing NBA 2k23 on PS5. even without legacy mode, i would argue it stacks up pretty well against what is the best 2K game in 10 years. my xbl tells me i had played approximately 5 games on CH2k8 or something in 2008.... but i had no time for legacy back then and NBA 2K was *the* multiplayer game where i was. i suspect this wasn't nearly as arcadey as we were looking for at the time!

i played all time big ten against all time big east and lost the first half by 20 points. honestly... it was super refreshing. i can pick up any NBA 2k from the last fifteen years, and no matter what the sliders are i can score the exact same way down the baseline any moment. playing with 'house rules' is sort of dull in my opinion, and its easy to rationalize using that baseline trick when the RNG has decided its not your turn for a run. while i am sure i'll find cheesey stuff in this game, i only had success with patient ball movement and (shockingly good) post moves.in 2k, even in the good ones, the scores are kept low with unnatural steals/interceptions.... i got absolutely iced without turning the ball over in CH2k8. even my (very few) points were heavily contested.

once i get a hang of the player controls (i just figured out how to do a step back, working on crossovers) i'm going to start a legacy mode and try to play every game through all 40 years.

Re: This game owns my soul.

I bought this game about a year ago but finally had time to play it over this past winter break.

I started a dynasty with St. Francis of PA. Took a while to get going but we finally broke through in year 5, going 25-10 and making the tournament. The next year we went 32-3 and made the sweet 16, which I thought would be enough to get me a power conference offer, but no. So, I stayed another year, went 25-10 and made the tournament again, and still didn't get any high-major offers. This game really makes you work for it.

I ended up taking a job with Central Michigan. The roster had talent but it was weirdly distributed, we only had 1 SF and 3 guards on the entire roster. We managed to make the tournament in year 3, finishing 25-10. I had hoped that this would finally get me what I wanted, but no. Still no big-time offers. I'm currently at the start of year 4, expecting a regression this year after we lost our best player and only good shooter.

Like everyone else has said, this game is awesome. The recruiting is so deep and actually challenging. The gameplay is not the prettiest but actually feels pretty good. I've really had to embrace the grind of a career legacy though, lol. Hopefully I can have 2-3 more good years at CMU and finally land a big-time offer.
