Funny, I just started a HoopCast career legacy w/ Maryland Eastern Shore on the PS2 version.

Re: This game owns my soul.

Just when I thought my team was looking amazing in year 4 of my Career Legacy at Kansas City, including a road win at Nebraska, they return home to face a mediocre Central Arkansas team. They started the game on an 11-1 run and I never had the lead until 10 minutes were left in the game. I'd go on to pull out an 82-77 win, but it was tough, much tougher than was expected with how much more talented my team was than them on paper.

Then the next game I host Rice. Another mediocre team that I am clearly better than in every aspect on paper. Again, a slow start sees my team down 14-5 in the first 5 minutes of the game. My defense, which is what my coach is tailored towards in this legacy, was nowhere to be found. I'd never really make this a game an I ended up losing 94-74 on my own home court just 2 weeks after going on the road and winning at Nebraska.

I love it. It truly feels like an authentic college basketball experience where some days one team is just on fire no matter what. That was Rice. They shot 63% for the entire game. Deep 3 with a hand in their face? No problem. Driving into 3 defenders? No problem. It was their night and I couldn't stop them. After my team started off the year looking incredible, they were humbled big time by Rice of all teams.

Yeah tell me about it. Started a dynasty with my Heels, started out 5-0. Games were challenging, especially with how the cpu moves the ball and executes plays as well as relearning the controls. Was getting my *** kicked by Davidson in my 6th game. Last few minutes I went on a run to cut their lead from 10 to 3. Got the ball at half court got a three off and hit it with .1 seconds left. Won in OT. Then got destroyed by Fing TOWSON the next game by 17. I could do nothing to stop them. Love the challenge this game brings, keeps you on your toes. Holds up very well even by today’s standards from a gameplay perspective.

I just figured out something pretty damn cool after almost 20 freakin years!!!..............I can play any team game in the NCAA Tournament even in Legacy Mode with 1 team

Its so refreshing to be able to jump into random games and play around the tournament and still control 1 team!!!!!!

Anyone know a reputable or popular set of sliders that you're all using? Haven't really gotten into 2k8 but finding that itch now and would like a good recommendation on sliders after reading OP's post

At this point we have all got some homebrewed set we probably use. There's a bunch shared on the Discord link above. Here are some I used a year ago. I can't remember if I have changed them or not:

Oh, and I go and scout the opponent before every game and change the tendency sliders to best align with their skillset. I also load a custom playbook for them that will run more plays for their star player.

Looking at the EA CFB 25 sales numbers, EA CFB25 has been a commercial success and looks to exceeded expectations. I wonder if that would persuade 2k jump back into the CHoops market. I've been on the fence where I don't think CBB would sell well enough. Both CBB games bowed out before they had to because of sales. But, that was 15+ years ago. With the success of CFB and 2k's reputation, I could see them jumping back into it

I’m biased but it seems like a no brainer. The game doesn’t need to be an annual release and even so, college basketball has less players to license.

I understand it’s more teams, but generic arenas or an ability for users to fill in the arenas with a building tool would be very easy

I do think that CHoops would be more of a commercial success than before. Like with CFB, it's a dormant beloved game and the fan interest seems to be there. I don't think it would sell as well as CFB seem to have sold. But, it should sell well enough to be worth the investment. NBA2K is at the point where it's selling 10M+ copies a year, so the 2k brand alone should boost sales.

I just think College Football is more of a marketable title than CBB. Outside of March Madness, it doesn't pull in the type of viewership in the regular season like CFB does. I feel like CBB viewership is more based on having marketable players, whereas in CFB, the Helmet sells more than the player.
