Thats a flawed view being that the 2 of the top 3 teams in West this year was below .500 last year and didn't make the playoffs and let us not forget that career stat wise the starting 5 and top 2 bench players for the lakers are better when compared to seattle. SO its no excuse

Lakers reconstructed their team. Im pretty sure it may take a while to build a strong chemistry like Seattle when Seattle basically had the same people around them over a couple of years. So what Seattle was below .500? They may have decided to finally redeem themselves and step up. Whereas the Lakers are still trying to find the right chemistry and coach. Seattle and the Lakers are in two different boats. The sentence below is true.

It's funny, threads like these are actually a tribute to Shaq. How many players in the NBA have never been to the NBA Finals? Yeah, that many. And here we are dissing Shaq because he didn't make it to the place that other NBA players have dreamed of making throughout their careers.Comment

Miami was rebuilt, so was HOU, and PHX, and DAL, and so on.
No way they should've went on a 2-19 losing streak.
You see this was just a way of catching you trying to de-value the eastern conference when miami with the same type of team the Lakers have exceeded expectations with a rookie running the show.Comment

Re: How do you feel about Shaq not making it to the finals?
This is my last post on the Lakers vs Shaq thing....
The Lakers have more important things to worry about than the outcome of the Heat's playoffs run.
1. If the Heat do reup and Shaq balls and the Heat are title contenders every year that will make the decision look worse and the Lakers end up merely the Orlando Magic of the West. What will happen then
2. If the magical free agent or draft pick never shows up (the whole reason for letting Shaq go to free up the space by not giving him the big money) no matter what Shaq does it would have destroyed a dynasty for nothing.
3. Lastly if nothing comes of this other than a increase in #8's scoring than the front office will have totally failed its fans.Last edited by BigTigLSU; 06-09-2005, 03:00 PM.Comment

Originally posted by dingdingdongI think rebuilding a team from scratch had something to do with it. Your expecting too much out of these Lakers. Yea Kobe wanted to be the leader, he got it. He failed. It shows no one can do it single-handedly.
And last time I checked, have Kobe, Lamar Odom, Caron Butler and Brian Grant doesn't sound like scratch to me.
And that is not being single-handed. Wade made out fine with those three players.Comment

Tmac + Yao + bench > Kobe + Odom + bench
Im not gonna even mention about Phx. They have a variety of people who can score not to mention having the MVP on their team helping them.
Dallas has a combination of Flopwitzki, JET, Stack, Marq, and a pretty solid bench.
You know damn well these well-rebuilt teams are much deeper then the rebuilt team of the Lakers. They have offensive weapson to go to. So give the damn Lakers a break and stop expecting so much after a horrible offseason-rebuilding they had.

As for Kobe's supporting cast, I wont even talk about Grant who was injured most of the year and has been a contributor for 2. Also, the only reason Wade made out "fine" with those two was because he was in the East. That damn team was only 2 games over 500 and was a fifth seed in the East. That not exactly a great team.Comment
