    Anyone Noticing Summer League

I've seen one thread here, but as a fan of a young team(Bobcats) im interested in how some players do in summer league. Not b/c it means anything, but b/c we get a glimpse of the rookies before the season and the young guys that dont get many minutes during the season.

What are some fans of other teams looking for this summer?? I've noticed for the Bobcats in like 2 games May hasn't let down a bit from the tourney w/ 18 pts, 10 rbds in the first game and 19 pts and 18 rbds in the 2nd game. Felton didnt have a great 1st game 9 pts, 6 assts, and sat out the 2nd game resting a pulled groin. Rookie FA Alan Anderson whom Bickerstaff said they would take if we had a 2nd round pick this year, has done next to nothing.

Another thing i remember reading about the Celtics Gerald Green is that he may take longer than originally everyone thought. Any other observations so far??

Matt Carroll for our Bobcats dropped 24 points in his first summer league game..could possibly be the most improved player next year. He plays really good defense, gets to the line, and has an outside jumpshot.

He has jumpshot, not so sure about his defense, he was toast in the regular season, hope he improves this summer.

Opposing viewpoints, I suppose. I thought his defense and rebounding was pretty good.

I think Nate Robinson has been the most impressive though.

Another thing I forgot to mention Sean May's jumper, just as good as advertised. I had read a couple different places where BB and others were surprised at how well May hits the 17 foot jumper. He was never asked to step out that far at UNC b/c he'd always play center and was their primary rebounder, but they say he can hit that 17 footer with regularity.

Bynum's been solid in the lakers league, surprisingly. 10-14 pts and 7-9 rebs a game. From reports he's still raw, needs conditioning, and has just been relying on his size. Von Wafer's been good too. Ronny has also done well, and got a contract the other day.

i hope vonnie wafer is getting a serious look from mitch and co. scored 29 points saturday. from the game i watched, in warmups he was doing windmills and between the leg dunks. pretty impressive for a guy whos probably no taller than 6'4. he's a shooter, but lack of ballhandling might be his downfall.

Von was a nice pick in the 2nd round. He has to make some teams roster with his atleticism and scoring ability. I wouldnt mind the Bobcats picking him up if the Lakers drop him! Seems like a better player than Alan Anderson.

Wafer will never amount to anything until he gets his head right. He may have it together now because he's in a do or die situation being a 2nd round pikc, but he's a headcase. If all he can do is shoot and score at 6'4", he'll be lucky to make the team.

DJ Mbenga supposively had a impressive outing against the Atlanta Hawks the other night. Had a sequence where he came out of no where to block what looked like a clear dunk attempt by the #2 pick Marvin Williams and sent Williams to the ground on a clena block. Then he also had a block on the slam dunk champion, Josh Smith. He finished with 5 blocks in 16 minutes.

Antoine Wright started the SL off with 2 horrible games, but finished strong with an avg of 16 ppg.

Sam Clancy also looked pretty good in the SL and may have earned a spot on the Nets.

Seems like Ike Diogu and Monta Ellis have been impressive for the Warriors. Diogu ended summer league games with a 37pt 12reb performance and avged 18.4PPG 8.4REB along with 85% FT. Ellis shot 40% beyond the arc (10-25)

                              Re: Anyone Noticing Summer League

I haven't been watching or hearing a lot about summer league games, but I did read about some of the prep to pros jumps from this year's draft. Specifically about Andrew Bynum.

Let's start with the Lakers' Bynum, who is have a solid showing in the Summer Pro League in Long Beach, Calif. Bynum has been solid, averaging 13.0 points and 6.6 rpg for the Lakers. Scouts have been raving about his soft hands, athleticism and court intelligence.

While no one is predicting he's fighting his way into the starting lineup anytime soon, every scout Insider talked to conceded he's further along than they thought.

"It's interesting they're bringing Kwame [Brown] there," one scout told Insider. "Maybe they'll use him as an example of how not to make the jump to the NBA. This kid seems to have his act together both on and off the court. He's got the chance to be really good. On draft night, I thought they really reached. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe he should've gone higher."
                              Makes me a little happier.
