No I think he was selfish.

I dont know, I'd rather make a little less money, still continue to kick ***, and be on a championship contender instead of make more money, kick ***, but play on a sorry excuse for a team.

i know matrix, i was hurt too when he left. Again we don't know his personal situation. Maybe he himself wanted to be the leader of his own team. Not be a role player his whole career. I'm sure he's playing this game so he can be the best basketball player he can be.

He probably thought he could finally have a chance to do it at a prime age. An NBA career is very short and you only have so many chances to do what you want in that league. Plus this his chance to be the main guy on a team.
If i knew i was good and was confident that i could lead a team i would take a chance and do it and make a mark in the league

Again i would have have loved it if he stayed but all things worked out for both teams and i hope for the best for him. He's a hard worker, and very talented and i can't get mad at that.

Whatver......let him go. I'm glad to have "The Frenchie" and guys like Eddie House that we were able to afford because we didnt give in to his ridiculous contract demands.

          I love Monday Morning QB's...

There was a 22 million dollar difference in what the Hawks were offering and in what the Suns maximum was...It's very easy to say on a message board what you would and wouldn't do.

I'm telling you exactly what I would do, bro. At that point, whats the difference between 50 and 70 million? Either way you're set for life if you dont blow it all like a moron.

              I'd rather win, I guess.

I dont even think it was about the money for Joe Johnson. It was about living his dream and becoming the best player he could be in the NBA.

It wasnt going to happen in Phoenix.

You can call him seflish all you want, though that's the furthest thing he is, but the guy made a great decision for himself (I cant stress that enough) and it worked out GREAT for Phoniex. I dont understand why you would have ill will towards him and that's the reason you cant see JJ's perspective IMO.

                  Re: Joe Johnson a Hawk

I've been through this a million times being a sports fan. And to call an athlete "selfish" is like calling a woman "crazy". DUH! What were you expecting?

Money wins 99% of the time. Get used to it.

I felt mad when Alex Rodriguez went to the Rangers (one of the worst teams in baseball) instead of returning to the 90 win Mariners (which then won 116 games the next year).

Apparently 200 million + endorsements isn't enough for some people. 252 million was enough for him. Personally, I would have taken the 200 million to stay on the Mariners, but 50 million is alot of money and I can understand why he did it.

Everyone has different motivations so it's stupid to call someone selfish when they leave. Johnson wanted to be a star and not the 4th guy. More money also, OBVIOUSLY, played into it.

Well besides 20 million, it was also recognition. On the Suns Joe Johnson is at best a 3rd probably 4th best option and maybe he couldn't live with that, maybe he wanted to show his talents else where and thats a decision he made. Plus $20 million is a lot of money. I hated it when he left at first, but now I'm glad because it brough Diaw and gave the Suns a ton of cap space. There is no way they could afford to have 4 players making near max money and I don't think that Joe Johnson is worth his contract though he is a good player.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

Hawks win their 3rd in a row, on a game winning jumper by the $70 million man.. 23 points, 11 assists.. could we be turning a corner?

well, those 3 wins did come against the Bobcats, Knicks, and Magic, but still, good streak for Atlanta. I remember back in December they won 5 of 7 or 8 including a win over the Spurs.

You never know we could but, it all depends if we beat the Wizards.

JJ's been playing that well for a while now.

He got off to a slow start in November...

                              17.3 PPG l 5.0 APG l 4.1 RPG l 1.2 SPG l 40% FGs l 27% 3-Point FGs

But since then, in December and January, he's been doing...

                              21.2 PPG l 6.0 APG l 4.0 RPG l 1.3 SPG l 49% FGs l 41% 3-Point FGs
