Bowen is the dirtiest player in the NBA

Once again, he jumps under a shooter so that the offensive player lands on his foot. Temporarily injuring Wade.

It'll be a happy day when I see someone get mad @ him & send a few of his teeth to the floor.

I want to really say that Bowen didnt do that on purpose...because that is very messed up..but it seems like Bowen "accidently" does that alot...and given the complaints about the way he defends by Ray,AI,Vince,etc....I'm not sure what to think.

No surprise, he has always realied on dirty plays to make up for limited ability.

He's done it a number of times. I'm sorry, but his "accidents" come way too frequently. I'm tired of his act & I'm tired of him getting away w/it.

If something happens once maybe it's an accident, twice maybe but less likely,as much as he does it? No. Where's Rodman when you need him?

Most of the best defensive players are bruisers and if your going to get someone, get them good especially if that someone is a good offensive player. You don't play nice guys with great offensive players otherwise they will find a way to sink the ball even on awkward situations and a possibility of getting a foul at the same time. You guys should probably watch the NY team of the 90's. Now that team meant business in the low post that even MJ learned to respect.

Dude, there is a difference between playing hard defense, tough, etc....vs. playing dirty. Sticking your foot under a player when they are up for a jumper so the player can land on your foot and twist his ankle is down right dirty. Go back and watch those Knicks and tell me if they had a habit of doing anything like that.

His assignment is to get close to the player he is guarding as much as possible, of course the odds are thier foot will get too close for comfort for the person recieving it. It's not like it happened everygame or every month. Also, offensive players can be dangerous too, to the player gurding them by elbowing or pushing them away for space. That or an accidental kick in the nuts, of course nothing compares to the flying kick Bowen landed on Bibby. If I am a player I would be a defensive player and my methods would not be far from Bowen's methods. The idea is to break the concentration of the opponent shooting by letting him worry on his landing at the same time. Chances are, the offensive player will look for another method to avoid the intimidation and usually it will not be something they will be comfortable. The message is clear, take the opponent's offense out from the comfort zone in whatever means necessary. Offensive teams also adopt the concept of score any means necessary (elbow, push, kick, hard screens or whatever).

DET and NY in the past are also knwn to take out star players with thier intimidating dirty defense. Instead of the player attacking in the low post, he will now think twice before he will attack and would sometimes settle for jumpers.

remember though, bibby's not the only time bowen's delivered a flying ninja kick to somebody's face

and when did playing good D mean resorting to stupid little tricks that could cause injury? what happened to just sticking with the guy, putting your hand in his face/blocking his shot/stealing the ball

there's also a difference between giving a hard foul once in a while as opposed to slyly sticking your legs under someone or kicking them in the face

                            1. Your reasoning is dumb. Offensive player is dirty, therefore it gives Bowen the right to be dirty?

                            2. There are plenty of good defensive players who intimidate because the offense is worried about their quick hands or their shot blocking ability.

                            3. Detroit & the Knicks being dirty is not the go ahead, excuse or justification for Bowen's actions.

I have to laugh at this thread... are you guys serious??? or are you joking?

My foot has been landed on tons of times by a jump shooter, doesn't make me dirty... worst of all, they called a foul on him. REDICULOUS!!!...

How come its so hard to call this guy the defensive wizard he is?... cause he's not Wade, or Carmelo, or Lebron??? He isn't a superstar???
