Who are your MVP canidates up to now...

So i guess this could tie in with the other thread a little but i wanted to focus more on What you guys thought of MVP canidates up to this point...

Remember, MVP = MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

    My List is in order.

    1. Chris Paul. Yea I said it, CP3 has come in to the league and absolutly dominated, hes playing, and excelling at the toughest spot to excel in in the league, his numbers and style of play are early indications of a young isaih thomas. This guy is serious. He has a team full of stall worts and reserves currently resting in the #8 spot in the Mighty Western conference. and hes a ROOKIE
#7 in the NBA in Assists
#2 in the NBA in steals
Beleive me, this kid is the truth, and While he may not get the MVP award, he definatly deserves some consideration.

    2. Steve Nash. Is there any explanation needed? I dont think so.

    3. Lebron James. After much critiscm and skeptiscm from critics, with a slightly retooled roster this 21 year old phreak of nature has his Cavs sitting in a nice healthy playoff spot, Lebron james is Top 3 in the nba in scoring all while shooting at almost 50% (48.9)

Ive only listed MY top three here partly because im lazy and partly because i wanted to get the discussion rolling, Ill chime in with more as the discussion rolls along...

Re: Who are your MVP canidates up to now...

amazingly i agree with paul being at the top of the mvp race. a rookie PG as the mvp sounds farfetched.. but this man is a cool headed leader. you listed his assists and steals stats, but the most telling stat is his TO's (nash 3.9, paul 2.3 per game). this is where i have to give the nod to paul, who has a 3.22 ratio to nash's 2.89. i would have to think that nash has a better supporting cast, so what paul's doing in oklahoma is mvpesque.

although like kobe and the lakers, the hornets just don't have the record at this point for him to have the title outright. so while i do agree he should be the leader of the race, if the season ended today, he wouldn't get it.

another thing to think about, is that paul may not make the all star team. it'd be between marion, parker, or carmelo. that is a tough call.

so at this point.. if the season ended today:

    nash
    lebron
    kobe and paul at #3

the hornets are now in #7 spot in the west now with the win over the lakers.

no doubt CP3 should win the ROY, but winning the MVP is whole another story. will see if he can keep it up without hitting the rookie wall.

Steve Nash, even though I hated on him last year for winning it, is the most valuable player. Nobody does more with less on their team.

I dont really know who else I'd give it, though Chris Paul would have to get his Hornets up even higher in th standings to win the MVP in his rookie season, which is nearly impossible.

Just wodnering, but why would he have to get them even higher??

Look at the talent on the team, and put any other rookie PG on that team, matter fact put any other star PG on that team besides steve nash...

Will they even make the playoffs?? I dont tihnk so..

In my eyes, he's an MVP candidate, but to be a real candidate to the people actually crowning that award, they aren't going to give it to the point guard of a team with a 7-8 seed. KG won it the year Spree and Cassell were on the team and they were a top the West...he hasn't been a candidate since.

                agreed.

at this point, I'd say it's Nash's to lose.

what I think: Lebron or Paul (it's VERY hard for a rookie to win MVP honours. Who was the last rookie to do so anyways?)

what the media will pick: Kobe or Lebron

aIf NOK makes the playoffs, you have to consider CP3

Its amazing that there could actually be 3 PGs in the running for MVP in the same year Nash CP(no likely, but maybe) and Billups

If you switch CP3 and Nash teams... I'm willing to bet that their records would be eerily the same.

                              3-Kobe Bryant

Chris Paul....nah. I've been watching this kid play since high school and he's always been the truth. But MVP consideration....nah. He definately makes that team go, but David West, JR Smith, Desmond Mason and Rasual Butler are some talented players that KG, Kobe, or T-Mac would love to trade their supporting casts for. Also Bryan Scott has done a heck of a job coaching these guys up so I really wasn't surprised that the Hornets would jump off to a fast start.

I think they lack the size and experience to make it down the stretch. Paul is the ROY but he will not win MVP.
