The question isn't whether CP3 will WIN the MVP because there is no way that will happen, but he should definitely be a candidate.

He definately makes that team go, but David West, JR Smith, Desmond Mason and Rasual Butler are some talented playersp

Too bad J.R. is in Byron's doghouse and hasn't helped the Hornets at ALL this year. Hell, I hear he's even on the trading block.

Chris Paul....nah. I've been watching this kid play since high school and he's always been the truth. But MVP consideration....nah. He definately makes that team go, but David West, JR Smith, Desmond Mason and Rasual Butler are some talented players that KG, Kobe, or T-Mac would love to trade their supporting casts for. Also Bryan Scott has done a heck of a job coaching these guys up so I really wasn't surprised that the Hornets would jump off to a fast start.

I think they lack the size and experience to make it down the stretch. Paul is the ROY but he will not win MVP.

Mason is alright. But, Smith has been terrible this year, and Butler and West never did anything before they played with Chris Paul. KG, T-Mac, and Kobe have Ricky Davis, Yao, and Odom. Paul doesnt have anyone of that calibur on his team.

Though I still think Nash should win it.

I'd take that seriously, if not coming from someone with the screenname 'Kobeisgod'

Butler and West both averaged less than 20 minutes and 7 points last year. You must have a very loose definition of 'good'. And Butler really isn't doing that much this year either. He's a 3 point shooter, and that's it. PJ Brown and Speedy Claxton are much bigger contributers than he is.

billmatic, i'd agree that houston and minny have better teams than oklahoma, but i sincerely believe that the hornets have better talent than the lakers. they have athletes everywhere. when you get a PG who just wants to distribute.. you can really see what a team full of athletes is capable of.

the lakers have kobe and odom yes, but after those two it's almost not even nbdl material. physically take a look at their roster.. it's amazing that they've stayed in the playoff race. it also looks like my prediction of them 3-5 games over 500 is holding true.

They are athletic as hell, but without Paul, that team was terrible with pretty much the same roster. I agree that after Odom, the Lakers roster is awful though.

I believe David West is averaging more points and rebounds than Odom. I agree that they aren't the same without Paul tho. They do have a mix of good young athletic talent that I think are on par with Ricky Davis, Banks, Hassell, Hudson, and Blount or the Rockets except Yao who has been injured.

LOL your serious???? , come on i beenw atching Chris since his senior year in HS as well, but if you think anyoen on the hornets is more valuable then anyone on kg's team and anyone on kobes team your tripping.

The fact of the matter is Chris is makign them a whole lot better then they really are. and that my friend is what MVP's do

Honestly i used to watch D. West at Xavier and he is a baller, him and Romain Sato... he has always been good, and now coupled with a Pass first pg you see the talent he has.. IT also helps hes the only low post "threat" the team has now...

i am in agreement with your assessment.. kobe and paul are definitely canidates, but neither would win if the season ended today.. however should either of their teams get at least the 5th seed, major debates will spawn.

Im sorry btu we must have different views of what a MVP really is.

I always thought MVP's get theres and bring the most out of there teamtes and team, which is one of the major reasons steve nash won last year.

And im sorry but if youd liek to bring kobes teasm vs chris team comparisons we can take it to the kobe thread....

Once again im not saying hes winning the MVP. I'm just saying consideration has to be given IMO, especially looking at the team (HORRIBLE), and what hes getting them to do.

And please lets try not to forget about Lebron James

Yes, I saw him play at Xavier as well. My point was just that his breakout year just happens to coincide with the arrival of Chris Paul, so saying Paul has such a good supporting cast because of how good West is, is a bit of a circular argument.
