everyone going against the pacers huh? Well, dont be suprised to see them win the first round pretty handedly. When it comes to playoff mode, pacers will be all over the nets like flies on you know what.

        1st round predictions:

        (1) San Antonio Spurs v. (8) Sacramento Kings
        Spurs 4-1

        (2) Phoenix Suns v. (7) Los Angeles Lakers
        Suns 4-3

        (3) Denver Nuggets v. (6) Los Angeles Clippers
        Clippers 4-2

        (4) Dallas Mavericks v. (5) Memphis Grizzlies
        Mavs 4-0

        Eastern Conference:

        (1) Detroit Pistons v. (8) Milwaukee Bucks
        Pistons 4-2

        (2) Miami Heat v. (7) Chicago Bulls
        Heat 4-1

        (3) New Jersey Nets v. (6) Indiana Pacers
        Nets 4-3

        (4) Cleveland Cavaliers v. (5) Washington Wizards
Wizards 4-3 I guess you can call this a "homer" pick but Washington won 3 out the 4 games from the Cavs in the regular season and I think Washington matches up well against them.

To be honest, I dont really know. I don't watch much of the Eastern Conference. I think it's more of me thinking that Indiana is better than what their record suggests. Washington is a good team though, I'm not taking anything away from them, it's just that I feel more confident in the Pacers.

The best series of the first round will be Cavs/Wiz. I really think the Wiz can get past the Cavs. The Clippers will get by Denver easily.

I feel like their rep rode on playoff clutch... and that "playoff clutch" was REGGIE MILLER... now that Miller is retired, the Pacers just aren't the Pacers anymore.

So are the Nuggets the only higher seed that has to play on the road under the new format?

                      Western Conference:

                      (1) San Antonio Spurs v. (8) Sacramento Kings
                      Spurs 4-2

                      Suns 4-2
                      (3) Denver Nuggets v. (6) Los Angeles Clippers

                      (4) Dallas Mavericks v. (5) Memphis Grizzlies
                      Mavs 4-1

                      Eastern Conference:

                      (1) Detroit Pistons v. (8) Milwaukee Bucks
                      Pistons 4-1
                      (2) Miami Heat v. (7) Chicago Bulls
                      Heat 4-2
                      (3) New Jersey Nets v. (6) Indiana Pacers
                      Nets 4-2
                      (4) Cleveland Cavaliers v. (5) Washington Wizards
                      Wizzards 4-2

My only upset is Washington over Cleveland. I just think Washigton has too much fire power and the Cavs defensively are terrible. LBJ will play terrific but but I think Arenas and Jamison will prove to be too much for Cleveland.

Artest is most likely to draw Duncan in the Sactown series and he'll do a repectful job. I think Manu is going to struggle and that's why I see the Kings extending this series to 6 games.

Kobe will hit one game winner in Phoenix most likley game 2 and that will help the Lakers gain some confidence but the end the Suns will wear them down.

I think both Dallas and Detroit will close out their series quicker than everyone else simply because of matchups. I don't think the Bulls have enough inside game to beat Detroit and I Memphis just doesn't have enough offensive firepower to stay with Dallas. The Mavs have won like 14 out of the last 16 matchups or something like that vs Memphis and their overall depth and atheleticism will do in the Grizz's.

My barn burner series is the Clippers and Nugggets. I think the Clippers will win but Denver will be even more motivated after Carmelo took offense to the Clippers basically saying they want Denver more than any other team in round one. I don't see either team winning a road game and that's why it goes 7.

I wonder if the Lakers will put Kobe on Nash for parts of the game. That would be interesting to watch.

BTW, im going to start a commentary thread for each round so this one is for all Round 1 games

                            That's cool, Dre....figured I'd get it started.

And put Kobe on Nash, that's fine. He'll just dish it to a wide open Bell or Jones who's covered by Deavan George? I'll take my chances.

To those of you discounting the Cavaliers, because Washington took the season series, you are forgetting that the first game of the year between the two, both teams were healthy, and the Cavs trounced them 114-99. Lebron and Hughes combined for 59 points.

Next time they met, Larry was out recovering from his surgery, and in the starting position was Sasha Pavlovic. Granted Pavlovic did an admirable job filling in for Hughes for a stretch of games, but he doesn't quite fill Hughes shoes. Lebron has a terrible shooting night, because there is no second option with Z only playing 23 minutes due to foul trouble. Wizards pull away with the win 101-89. It was Lebron against everyone... no support at all for James.

Game 3, the still depleted lineup of the Cavaliers take on the healthy Wizards. Lebron has 25, but misses 11 FT's going 8/19 from the stripe. I guarantee you that this will not happen again. Pavlovic starts, but does not score. This is Flip Murray's debut against the Wizards. Comes in and scores a few points, but has not meshed with the team. If Lebron comes through at the line, then it will not be a 102-94 victory for the Wizards.

Last meeting, was pretty much a no contest. With the Cavs already guaranteed a 4 spot, Brown decided to rest his starters. With James only playing 29 minutes, and the rest of the starters only playing 26 minutes or under, we were still able to stay right with them. The score was 104-92... but only due to a late game surge by the Cavalier bench. It took 44 minutes from Gilbert Arenas, 39 minutes from Jamison, and 41 from Butler to put away our bench. Lebron only went to the line 1 time, and only drove to the hole 3-4 times this game. This was nothing more than a game to get the Cavalier reserves ready for the playoffs.

Now, I know this will be a good series, but I really don't see it going past 6 games. Barring any mental breakdown on the Cavaliers part, I see this going 6 games, and the Cavs advancing 4-2. The only time this year that the teams met (with any significance) the Cavs had their way with them. The last two months, the Cavaliers have gelled, and they are a formidable "team".

Lebron will not lose this first playoff series...

It's really too bad the Bulls have to play Miami. If they were playing the Nets, they could give them a run for their money.
