Is Bonzi having a monster game or what? Also, 2-2 babee! It ain't over but we're close. If the Kings play like this the rest of the series, there's no doubt we can beat the Spurs.Comment

you can't fall back on the "suns arent at full strength" crap, there are more than enough shots of Amare and KT on the bench to remind everyone. Fact is they still got the two seed and were expected to run out the lakers.Comment

I don't think suns should be #2 seed, but that is why nash is regular season mvp.Comment

NO. they did NOT.
so amare being out, and kthomas to a lesser extent, is a MOOT point
they had the 2nd seed without amare, and for the most part, without kurt thomas
so they are basically the same team that got the 2nd seed personel wise.Comment

I too am surprised that the suns aren't living up their expectations against the lakers.Comment

Originally posted by bball_1523amare is still on the suns, shaq has been out of LA for almost 2 years, and he is decaying away as a player anyway. Shaq isn't even close to as good as he was 3-4 years ago. And Amare was freakishly getting better and better. Who knows if Amare would've handled shaq if shaq was in LA today.Comment

Originally posted by EWRMETSMan you keep brining up Amare and it really is moronic. Injuries affect sports every year and it's useless to say what if. Just for your annoying argument's sake and not even considering the fact that the Suns might have a different seed if Amare or Kurt Thomas were healthy, the chances of Boris Diaw or Tim Thomas playing this well would be unlikely.
I am still surprised that the suns got #2 seed w/o Amare. But to lose to the lakers is an embarrassment for them.Comment

they DID get the 2nd seed without amare playing, he played a grand total of 3 games, so basically they went the whole season without amare and got the 2nd seedComment

I don't know if this has been said, but the Lakers must be thanking David Stern for not changing the playoff format because we all know Dallas would be demolishing them at the moment and the Suns would probably be demolishing the Grizz.Comment

Don't forget that Kwame is a very good defender and could probably contain Amare decently. I thnk Diaw and Thomas can expose Kwames weaknesses more than Amare could since Kwame has trouble gaurding guys on the perimeter but strives at gaurding guys on the blocks.Comment

Re: ***Official Running Commentary of Every Single 1st Rd NBA Playoff Game Thread***
Originally posted by EWRMETSThat's an awful argument. The Lakers have had more trouble with the Suns than any other team. I can't believe the excuses some people on this board will try to come up with, instead of just admitting how awesome the Lakers are playing.
I don't recall saying the Lakers aren't doing an awesome job. I am actually quite happy to see what I'm seeing, to see the team finally understanding the concepts of the triangle and finally buying into it, and the role players finally gaining confidence ...
but ...
yeah, Kobe scored 62 on them in 3 quarters in the regular season, but he also scored 45 a game against the Suns in their 4 games and had one win (when Nash didn't play) in the regular season and they're now outplaying the Suns night in and night out. The regular season doesn't really matter is what I'm trying to get at (which the Lakers have proven thus far, right?)
It's just that a Laker/Dallas series would probably lack the post dominance on the Lakers part since Dallas has a lot more bigs (and bigs that block shots at that) and guys more suited to play half court offense than the Suns do. Maybe, Kwame and Lamar have decent series against Dallas too but they would not be dominating Dirk/Diop/Dampier like they are dominating this size deficient Suns team. And since LA is dominating the paint, thus slowing the game down, the Suns can't run and their offense comes to a screeching halt at times. Dallas, on the other hand, is a team that plays particularly well in the half court (under Avery), so the tempo the Lakers are currently setting wouldn't upset the Mavs much at all. Let us also not forget that Dallas has more scorers that can create their own shots than Phoenix has.
I probably shouldn't have said that Dallas would be destroying the Lakers right now, but it's crazy to not admit Phoenix (in terms of postseason play, when the game slows down) was a better matchup for the Lakers than Dallas.
By the by, the Lakers are doing a terrific job and I've been preaching to my friends that I believe they will win a championship in the next 3 to 4 years (and hell, maybe even sooner than that since they finally seem to get it now) but I firmly believe that if they had been playing Dallas right now, we would have a totally different story.Comment
