Uhh, do you care to back that up with anything or are you just gonna make random statements about players who were in their prime when you were 10 years old?

He had 4 years of averaging 14-18 PPG and 7-8 APG.

He wasnt even considered by most to be a top 5 PG in the league when he was in Dallas.

I dont have a problem with the list, though Im curious to see who the next 2-3 players are who are behind Nash. I agree GP should be ahead of him.

          The stats support Payton easily.

          2000 Payton vs 2006 Nash:

          PPG: 24.2 to 18.8
          APG: 8.9 to 10.5
          RPG: 6.5 to 4.2
TO per game: 2.7 to 3.5
          FG%: 44.8 to 50.7
Steals per game: 1.9 to .8

But in terms of numbers, Payton was much more consistant. Nash is all over the place.

          From 1995 to 2003, Payton's worst PPG, APG, RPG, and SPG were 19.2, 7.1, 3.4, and 1.4.

          Nash's worst from 2001 to now are 14.5, 7.3, 2.9, and .6.

I don't really like the list as they ended up voting for it. If I had to take one list it would be Ric Bucher's list. Instead of Nash I would have Jerry West.

The Payton vs. Nash issue is pretty funny. I'll take Payton over nash in a New York minutes based on one huge difference, defense. Payton was one of the best defenders in the leagues for quite a few years. On the other hand, the next time Nash plays defense will be the first time.

You could argue numbers all day long but that doesn't mean much to me when we all agree Payton was the best player on his team, thus creating more chances to score and etc.. while Nash isn't even the best player on his team, some could argue he's the 3rd best on his team.

Here goes to beating a dead horse.

And you were 13. What is your point? I was more into the NBA then, compared to now.

Well my dad can kick your dad's ***.

Payton in his prime would whoop Nash eight ways from Sunday.

i am not going to diss nash as he is the reigning mvp and has had 2 phenomonal years but gp in his prime wouldve had this suns team just as good if not better as nash has.
gp in his prime was a beast, there is no arguing this. check the numbers.
once kemp left and baker became a drunk. he had no help. and had to carry the sonics on his slender back for years.
put this nash on those sonic teams.
put primed payton on the last 2 suns teams.
u know what the outcome would be.

If he's the third best player on his team which isn't even the best team in the league, he's probably not the #10 PG in history.

I'll have to disagree here. GP was easily the best PG in the league for at least 4-6 yrs. Gave my Bulls fits, what was that '93-'94???(somebody correct me) Hell GP taught kidd all he knows, lol. Underated, but the best nonetheless.

You'd be right if the other 2 players on his team played PG.. but they don't.

Scottie actually was pretty decent as a "1".
