There are no more "Superstar" calls in the NBA. The calls are more situational calls if anything. Teams sometimes will get calls because they are at home. Sometimes the coaches "work" the refs to induce certain calls. Other times teams go on runs that seems to affect a refs emotional state, and he/she gets caught up in the moment that cause some mistakes.
If game 5 were played under the old 2-2-1-1-1 format, that game would have been in Dallas. I'd bet a kidney that Wade would not have gotten that call had the game been in Big-D. I've watched the NBA game transform from the Magic/Bird/Jordan calls, to a free for all where any great player on any team can be nuetralized by the officiating. The calls are bad for EVERYONE across the board. In a tight game where the ball always goes to a teams best player, sometimes the best that player can hope for, if a foul is called, is a little "home cookin" from the refs. And that's what Wade got. It might look like a Superstar call. But it is not. Now if it were Jordan, he'd get that call no matter where the game was played. Wade?.... 3 years in the league getting "Jordan calls?". I think not.
