Yep, which were all basically because of Shaq. However, Duncan may get his 4th soon (the Spurs are certainly favored this year).

Is Shaq more like Godzilla or Mothra? And what about Tim Duncan? Who won between Mothra and Godzilla? Therein lies your answer.

Not too familiar with Mothra... but Charles Barkley beat Godzilla. I guess Barkley is better than Shaq?

Shame on you for leaving Rodan and King Ghidora out.

Well actually Godzilla and Mothra was'nt a finished fight. Mothra got his people off the Island and Godzilla...well he was just being an a**hole. They engaged each other with no real winner or loser. Now King Kong and Godzilla is another story. I say Shaq is more along the lines of a king kong than a godzilla.

IMO it's Shaq because he's a once-in-a-lifetime center. His size, strength, and agility, will probably never be matched ever again.

Shaq, no question in my mind.

Tim Duncan's a real nice player. But if he played in the 80's he'd be Brad Daugherty.

Shaq in his prime over Duncan.

Wow, never thought of that comparison....very good....I always said he reminds me of Kevin McHale.

Shaq is probalby the best center to ever play the game imo

but Duncan is top 10 all time also imo.

                          Re: Shaq vs Tim Duncan

I can't stand Shaq so I'm probaly biased.

But in the stretch, in the closing moments that makes champions.....you simply almost never had to worry about Shaq the same way you did Duncan. I remember game 6 in the 2003 NBA Finals where Duncan completely took over in the last 5 minutes. He had something like 1 block away from a quadruple double.

Most of those moments on Shaq's teams belongs to #8 or #3.

                            Re: Shaq vs Tim Duncan

Most of the numbers and accolades are nearly identical...but Shaq edges TD 3-4 in the only one that matters. The hardware.

Couple things to ponder though. TD is a better defender, Duncan has never had a top 5 sidekick...while Shaq never won without one, and their head to head playoff matchups are about even. Since 1999 they've met 25 times in the post-season.

                            TD 26/13/4
                            Shaq 24/14/3

Games won: 14-11 Shaq, Series won, 3-2 Shaq

In those 25 games TD led his team in scoring 19 times and tied for the lead once. Shaq on the other hand has led his team in scoring 5/25 times against Duncan in the playoffs, with 2 ties. One guy had a partner who was putting up 28 per, the other did not.

Bullying guys under the basket for a mean dunk is the same 2 pts as step-faking and nailing a 10-foot banker, so I tend to think the word "dominant" is a little overrated, but in Shaqs favor, TD has had some REALLY bad games against Shaq, scoring 15 or less 4 times including back-to-back stinkers in '01 (9 and 15 pts) wheras Shaq hasn't had many bad games (only 1 game < 16) Shaqs power has shown to be more consistent than TD's finesse, but then again, Shaq hasn't factored into a close finish since he left Orlando.

                            Final analysis...its a tossup.

this is the most idiotic statement i've read on this board. how many times was daugherty all nba? how many rings? how many mvps? how many time first team all defense?

i have no respect for anyone's basketball opinion who says this.

I think talent TD is of course better than Brad D, but playing style was very similar, very fundamental. And before the knee injuries caught up with Brad D he was a beast, plus to boot he played in an era with an abundance of big men....I dont think it's a slight of TD at all.
