I basically agree w. what Kenny Smith said last night on TNT, the analogy about comparing it to spilling a glass of water.
And negative reinforcement is a part of life.

The worst part about that is the officials fall for it again and again.

If I were an official on any level and I saw a player flop for a call, he would not get that call the rest of the game, even if he was decked for real.

That is not...good lol. Should Sheed or anyone else in the league get T'd for arguing? What about Melo when he purposedly threw his headband at a ref? The guy was subbed out. I think there is a line that an individual has to cross, and arguing with a ref is a very thin line IMO...

cmon, the 'zero tolerance' thing is garbage. people pay good money to see them play and they get tossed for arguing a damn call??? just wait until playoff time comes and the emotion level is through the roof, star players will be getting tossed left and right. gee, won't that be fun to watch. hopefully the refs are so strict that we see multiple ejections each game.

Its the players burden and why should it be anyone elses. If a player gets tossed, the fan should be mad at that player. This is all something that is within a players control so all the bellyaching is being done by a bunch of enablers.

Refs getting tech-happy bothers me more than the players complaining about calls. I couldn't care less if a player bitches about a call, that doesn't do anything buy make him look like an ***. It bothers me when refs get over sensitive and kick them out of the game since that actually has an impact.

Come on, if you make a good defensive play and the refs make a questionable call, the first thing your going to due is react. You can't take emotion out of basketball. Players are going to react.
Alot of calls thats been made have been extremely petty.

The reason they will react that way is because they have been allowed to do so. BF Skinner teaches you that you can shape behavior through negative reinforcement. But perhaps NBA players are less able to learn than rats.

Never thought BF Skinner's name would be used on OS!

Anyways onto the topic at hand, I'm all for ejections as long as they continue to enforce the rules and such that they're employing now. If the NBA is truly set on improving its image then this can't be a "few weeks and done" kinda deal. It has to be for the full season.

Of course i'm skeptical, but who knows the NBA may surprise just like the NHL did.

Time will tell. BTW, what makes it questionable? Just because a player overreacts doesnt mean its a questionable call so Im not sure if youre even making a point here.

I really like the refs not putting up with anything. I can't stand when it's the same players every game, every call that bitch and moan to the referees. I can understand players having an emotional reaction to a call every once in a while but it's really been bad in the NBA for a while so I'm glad they're trying to fix it. I'm still kind of anxious to see what happens when someone like Kobe or Shaq says something to the officials, if they'll get the typical superstar treatment or if they'll get the same treatment as the lesser players.
