Re: YAO MING.........
You try to not be slow and clumsy when you are 7'6".
The guy isn't like Shaq, he isn't a bulky guy. He's skinny and his style is more of a turnaround jump shot/hook shot kind of guy. It's effective and I think it's nice to have a big man who does something besides use his fat *** to dunk all day like Shaq does.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: YAO MING.........
Ming has always been more of a jump shooting center then a power center and that doesnt make him soft or a girl as some have pointed out. There have been plenty of centers who are good but dont dunk on everyone and play a power game, Olajuwon shot fade aways along the baseline all game long and he wasnt accused of being soft because of it, Kareem shot hooks all day and wasnt considered soft, Im not sure why Yao takes such a beating for doing the same thing.Comment

Re: YAO MING.........
Whats so sad about it? What makes it soft exactly? I cant imagine that someone can be called soft because they take fade away shots while other centers always got away with it, and as long as Yao is putting up the numbers then why does it matter how he does it?Comment

Re: YAO MING.........
Hes not comfortable doing that so there is no guarantee that his percentage would go up, and as we've seen, unless he gets really deep position he should never try and put it on the floor, it just leads to turnovers. I think Yao is still improving but I stand by what I said, I still dont see why he catches so much flack for taking jumpers, how many centers play a power game anyways, Shaq? Big Z takes jumpers all day or that god awful looking hook and considering there is a lack of true centers there arent very many other centers to even use for comparison purposes.Comment

Re: YAO MING.........
IMO what makes him soft is his inability to back get deep position in the paint to get better shots than a fadeaway.
Also the fact taht he can't seem to back people down at all. I understand Yao is a jump shooter type center, but he should be able to back people im for more dunks and layups.Comment

Re: YAO MING.........
Let's be fair here fellas...he was almost an MVP and DOMINATING pre injury.
He was the best big in the NBA by a mile and playing like it.
Since he's come back, he looks weak and not able to play hard. Maybe he came back too quick?Comment

You might be right. I did not get to see any Yao games pre-injury.Comment

Re: YAO MING.........
He definitely seems a step slower, and while he'll never be a great jumper, it seems like he's having trouble getting off the floor at all. In addition, I think he's taking a lot of those fadeaways because Utah's hammering him every single play inside and he's not getting any calls. If he tries to do anything physical, chances are he hits someone too high (his height often works against him) and gets nailed with an offensive foul.Comment
