before yao got injured, he was just the same...taking turnaround jumpers most of the time but he was shooting much better though

I concur. Whenever he does go to the basket, he gets hacked to **** and its a no call. Might as well saver your body and shoot jumpers.

Plus he broke his leg earlier this year. BROKE...HIS...LEG...

He is soft, he has a tremendous weapon that all star centers don't have, a good free throw. If he's a lot more aggressive, he'll score 30+ every game and most of it will be free throws.

You'd think JVG wouuld call some high post plays for him, but he's too short sighted and stubborn so he doesn't call other plays or make adjustments no matter if its working or not.

Why do you want Yao at the high post?

Remember those times where Yao would make amazing passes to teammates cutting to the basket as well as other stuff? Yeah. Doesn't help that the rest of the Rockets (excluding T-Mac) come and go.

Yao was definitely MVP-worthy before the injury but he's definitely not acting like himself in this series.

Bill Laimbeer was only a outside shooting center. The guy posted maybe once a game. And he was a tough and rugged player. And probably the best outside shooting center of his or any era.

Yao Ming is soft, but he is still a very good player. but he would be killed playing against the bigs of the 80's and 90's

In todays game he is one of the best, if not the best center in the league. And I dont necessarily think thats a good thing

If Yao is soft because he shots jumpshots then can we label Patrick Ewing soft? I don't remember Ewing backing down his guys like Shaq. Mind you, he's had his moments BUT majority of Ewing shots were jumpshots.

Well, the center position is being revolutionized by players like Amare, Dwight etc. So I would easily put both of them infront of Yao as far talent. Yes Yao is talented, but he has put himself in a center category that doesn't seem to be effective.

Amare's not even really a center. He's more of a power forward.

That will not last too long. By the time they hit thier prime at somewhere 29 or 30, they will slow down. They can't keep the speed for too long, even Garnett has lost a lot of step but his power game is improve compared on his first 5 years where he can play 3 positions from SF to C. Now he is limited to PF or C position because he does not possess the speed or quickness of a SF anymore. But he used to. I also noticed a small drop of speed on Amare but that could have something to do with his surgeries in the past, but his post game is a lot better now. 6 foot 6 guys and below tend to retain thier speed even after 30 but 6 foot 8 and above tend to loss them. Dwight is still very young so he has not lost anything yet.

Im sry but i have to agree yao ming is soft. Yeah Patrick, Hakeem, and kareem do take jumpshots but they also dominate the paint. yao doesnt dominate the paint. He is afraid of the paint. Carlos boozer was killing yao at the paint at both ends. FOr godsake carlos was just posting on yao and just killing the man. Yao is overrated and soft as ice-cream. I feel bad for mcgrady wont be suprise if he retired early.

T-mac better win a series in the playoffs otherwise he will become the greatest player in the NBA history that never won a playoff series. T-mac must have been wishing he is still in ORL right now with Dwight and Grant Hill. Would have been a playoff contender lineup.

i agree! plus it seems that when he does try to make a power move or something, he gets called for offensive foul. hopefully he'll work on some better moves during the offseason and also doing more drop-step would help. he did look slower than usual though in the playoff and for some reason, his shooting touch wasnt as consistent as it was during the season.

hopefully he can work with hakeem more during the offseason and show him some new post moves
